JulieG, I feel just the opposite.  I feel bad taking Emily out on errands.  With dh still looking for work, I always leave Emily home with him while I go shopping.  I feel better this way so that she doesn't catch colds and doesn't get too overstimulated.

JulieB, I don't know the name of the movie yet except that Jodie Foster is in it.  Only 2 more hours and I'm free..... :D

Debra, it's so nice to see a picture with you and dh :D  :D .

Also welcome to everyone else, and if I haven't responded to you it's just cause I can't think of any good suggestions  .

Deb - you do exist!!  i was starting to think you weren't posting pictures on purpose!    boy, olivia looks a lot like her daddy.

maybe one of these days we'll pull off a family photo.

JulieG - go as many places as you want, and if you'd rather stay home, that works too.  :D  it gets easier to move about once that morning nap is gone.

Hi all!  I feel like this is a fresh start for us Jan/Feb moms!  Thanks for the new thread.

Me:  I'm Tammy, and I'm 29 (will be 30 in less than a month  ).  I'm a SAHM.  Dh works out of town during the week Mon thru Thurs, so I call myself a single mom those days!  We've been married 6.5 years.  We live outside Dallas, TX.

Ethan:  Will be 8 months old this coming Monday!  He is mostly textbook, with some touchy thrown in with regards to sleep.  He is crawling now, pulling up in his crib, and now trying to pull up on the furniture in the rest of the house!

JulieG - I wouldn't worry one bit about not taking Matty out of the house that much on errands!  I only do after his afternoon nap, and sometimes, honestly, that is to kill some time between end of afternoon nap and bedtime!  We go on a walk every evening around 6 pm because Ethan's a happy guy when outside, not so much inside at that time of day.

JulieB - We're all jealous of the movie taking!  I haven't seen a movie since I was pregnant with Ethan, and I don't even remember what that is.  However, we do have a home theater, so we have seen some movies, but not many.  Now that I'm getting rid of the df, I think we might be able to watch some more soon!   :D   Anything on DVD anyway.

I have zippo pictures to post of Ethan and I.  I'm always the one taking all the pictures!  However, I want dh to take some pictures soon of Ethan and I.  I want to give one to my dad for his upcoming birthday.  But I'll post a couple of Ethan!

Julie G- in the first 5 months thanks to short A time and the dramas of trying to manage 2 kids Olivia so rarely left the house (including me not even taking her down to our garden or on the deck too much) that when i started doing this more around 4-5 months old she reacted with such awe at the trees and wind blowing on her that i felt SO BAD - i was forcing her to be house bound because of MY anxiety... and you know what? she is fine.  my child nurse reassured me that food, sleep and love were the most important things and do what you can with the rest - the love is what will help them thrive and they certainly won't feel bad because they had too little or too much errand time, etc.  you do whatever works for you and Matty and all is OK. since he does do well, then you do take him on weekends, but since it is easier in the week to leave him at home, that is the right choice too (just think then you get home faster and get to do FUN things with him and cuddle rather than get him in and out of the car etc = BORING)

Vidya - my only thought about your situation is that with 6 breastfeeds i think she is too full to increase her solids.  Personally i woudl not add in formula, your body will certainly be making enlough milk as it is based on demand and with 6 BF a day i imagine your supply is good right?  if it were me i woudl take the plunge and cut back the BF a little and give it a few days for her and you to adjust , which YES could mean she might wake in the night once or twice or NOT at all.  but just like any other change they need to adjust and i really don't think she will initiate it if she is happily feeding that much.  i woudl definitely at 8 mo be pushing to 4 hr feeds and getting her settled into a new food routine gradually.  start with one breast and solid combo and work your way up until all feed cycles are better. HTH

Us - we are starting to wean off Df as of tonight using the plan in Tracy's latest book. i too am terrified of losing the sleeping through or nightwakings waking alex up, but if we don't get rid of DF i don't think she will ever eat well at Bkfst ... and we are hoping she will take more calories in the day over the course of the 2 week weaning plan.  I am still extremely stressed about food and Olivia but will write about that later - i want to think some more before i ask for more help and want to be calm (cried about it in bed last night and i know i am putting too much pressure on myself  )

1 more thing - since i have received quite a few PMs (and people also wrote on the old thread) that so many people felt similarly to me about how the other thread wasn't working anymore I hope everyone can really let go of the feeling that they "should" respond to every little thing people mention. it should be just like a normal chat where you can listen as well - the person you chat with in real ife is not offended if you don't comment on everything they say - if they ask for advice or commiseration that is when they want to hear you speak up... if you want.

that's the last from me - i am defnitely giving this another chance and am glad to see so many of you from the old thread and some new faces too.

Vidya: I read your dilemma on the BF board aswell, but I have no suggestions. I've been thinking about it, but can't come up with anything.

JulieG: I personally think it's good for them to go out once in a while, but it isn't good to go out too much. Balance. I try to take Luka out once or twice a week, he really enjoys it. Even if it's just to the mall to walk around for an hour. It also helps me, I'd go insane if I stayed home all the time. :)

Jaime: How do you pronounce Jaina's name? I've been wondering for ages, and keep forgetting to ask you.

Deb: Please be gentle with yourself...things will get easier with Olivia. That's what I keep telling myself.

Us: We still have the nightwakings and now we have a 6am wake up. It used to be 7/7.30am, don't know what's happening now :? And it's throwing our schedule off completely because he won't go down for a 3rd nap despite being tired.

He's also taken to refusing to eat breakfast AND lunch  :?

We've had a runny nose for about two weeks, last Friday the snot turned yellow/green and we went to see the paed. Paed claims Luka has an infection and needs antibiotics. I'm not so keen on AB. I ask for alternatives, he says there are none  He also warns me that if we don't do the AB the infection will spread. I notice that the runny nose is only when we're at home. If we're running errands then his nose is clear. Makes me think that this is more allergy related, the paed disagrees.
I'm going for a 2nd opinion on Monday (earliest appt I could get).
What do you ladies think?

Now how's that for a novel?  :D

Debra,

I'd say about 4 days a week that Emily will only drink 2-3oz before bed and maybe only 2 oz for dreamfeed.  And she still has no problem waiting till 6:45-7:00 am for her first bottle :o .   Her eating seems to have gone down over the past few days and she's also eating a couple ounces less solids at lunch.  But no night wakings and she's still a happy, chubby baby :D .  She just doesn't seem to need as much food as other babies.  It sounds like Olivia is the same way.  Is she waking hungry at night?  If not and she still looks chubby (from your photo) don't worry.  Don't even try to get extra ounces in her if she protests.  You know she'll eat well when she's hungry cause of how well she ate during her last growth spurt.

Good Luck, Tarri

Schae,

Emily also wakes early.  I would suggest, not even trying for the third nap and just putting him to bed maybe a half hour earlier.  Also, I'm sure his stuffy nose isn't helping matters.  Good luck at your next doctor's appointment.

Schae:

Is Luka running a fever?  Quite honestly, I recommend homeopathy, but you would need to find someone qualified near you.  If he truly has an infection, the antibiotics are the right thing to do, but it makes me wonder if he does because as you say, his nose isnt runny much of the time.

Are there pets at home? Dust, mold or mildew?

Tarri: Thanks. Earlier bedtime ... will try that.

JulieG, I'm actually looking for a homeopath. It's my next call after the doc on Monday. Luka doesn't have a fever, he is his usual happy self. His lunch and breakfast appetite has decreased though, he more than makes up for it at supper time though.
We have a dog. And it has been extremely dusty here, no rain and lots of wind and dust.

thank you for letting me air out my thoughts with you...

Hi everyone

I must say I am thrilled with this new thread, I posted a few times on the old one but felt a bit lost as couldn't keep up with everyone...

A bit about us:

I'll be 29 at the end of the month, been with DH 10 1/2 years and have  been married 5 years at the end of the month. I work part-time as an administration contractor.
Crystal is the first of hopefuly three (another girl & boy i've decided   ).
Crystal is 9 1/2 months old, born 2 Jan 05. She's mostly textbook with a little bit of angel thrown in. She has two teeth, is sitting, rolling, and almost crawling.
We live in New Zealand, in a beachside suburb called Titahi Bay.

I'll try & attach a photo (haven't done this before so hopefully it works )

Anyway, I look forward to chatting to you all in the future  :D

Schae - Jaina's name is pronounced JAY-na, with the emphasis on the first syllable.  from what i can tell, it's a (much prettier) derivative of Jane.

her middle name is Kourtney, so her name(s) mean gracious & courteous.
