Well Asher slept in again, if you can believe it!  The stinker.  And his naps were on the short side.  I think the pm nap would have been long but he woke and couldn't breathe (and couldn't suck the thumb).     So who knows anymore!

Tarri, I have over two hours of DL video, but alas, none was on my little digital camera (the one I use for dropshots).  I haven't figured out how to capture the digital video from the camcorder yet.  I'll have to ask DH.  Really, it wasn't very entertaining.  Most of it was Asher's blank stare of amazement/confusion/indifference.

Branwen, sorry about the sickness!  It sounds terrible!  We were battling that all month as well.  No fun when you're sick too!!  Eirwen's fine motor skills sound incredible!  Especially the eating!  I also saw the video of her cleaning her tray.  She's so smart for such a young age.

AZ vs. UK time: Well, I think I'm about 8-10 hours behind.  I remember one of my old clients in the UK would call me around 8-9 in the morning and he was just getting ready to head home.  Always loved talking to him cuz he called me "mu Luv."  And that accent...swoon!

Heather, the push walkers do take a bit for them to get used to, so she may take a couple falls.  But I'm sure she'll get the hang of it quickly.  They're usually so entranced by the new toy that they don't care if they take a couple spills while learning.  And the big smiles you'll get!  They're SO proud once they figure out how to walk along with it.  It's a new found freedom and mobility of walking like a "big kid."  :D

Deborah - woo hoo!!!  yay Maya!!!  that's awesome!  and i love the story about the duck - what a great thing to tell her about how she got her first ornament!  :D

Heather - wouldn't have known otherwise, except i've driven to TN a bunch of times.  the easternmost parts are in the Eastern time zone, but the line is around the mountains in Knoxville.  seems to me you were closer to Nashville, which is definately Central.

Heather - The front wheels of the walker have brakes on them so that when they push it they don't go flying. When Hannah first got it she would pull it over on herself, now she has a lot more strength in her legs so she can pull up on it easily. She really likes it and gets very excited when she walking with it.

So I'm an hour ahead of Julieb and Branwen and I think an hour behind Jaime? Would that make me the same as Heather and Tammy? Not sure! How about this: Right now it is 10:26 am my time!  :D And Leah is taking her morning nap.  :D  :D And I am off of school for a week and a half!  :D  :D  :D (that one deserves three smiles!  )

Jaime - Leah has decided she wants to share her food!  She will put a peach chunk in her mouth, then take it out and try and give it to me!  I'll try to get a video of that sometime for dropshots.

Jaime, I am in Knoxville, Eastern time, and Central time does cut over around Nashville.  So I think Christine is 2 hours behind me (your post said 12:26 on the screen and you said it was 10:26).  I think this is too much for our mommy brains!

Dh is cooking a meal tonight and we're having a few friends over.  Hopefully Kelsey will be good rather than the pill she's been the past few evenings.  Oh, by the way, I nevered answered the "what's your dh's name" question.  Mine is Kevin.
We actually had my mom watch Kelsey for a bit this morning and we went and shopped together.  Haven't done that in AGES!  It wasn't terribly exciting, but I love to shop regardless  .  He insisted on getting Kelsey a few more things, and the dog something.
Gotta run and help prepare the feast!

A funny Hannah story quickly before I head to bed.........Hannah still has a mobile hanging over her crib, though we don't wind it up anymore at nap time. I decided to leave it there since we are selling our house and it looks so cute hanging there......anyway. I hear her awake over the monitor so I go in to her room to pick her up and what do you suppose??She was hanging from the mobile like a monkey on a chandelier!! It was so funny. I put 2 and 2 together and figured that was the reason that the mobile was tipped over every time I looked at it.

Also, her new thing this week is to sign more :) I was so excited to see her do it, but she has caught on that I get a kick out of it and will sign more when she wants to get my attention. She's such a hoot.

Merry Christmas to everyone tomorrow! I can't wait to see pictures of the LO's as they open their gifts. Here's hoping for a wonderful Christmas time - and hoping that our LO's are well behaved!

Merry Christmas to you all and happy Chanukah if anyone besides me celebrates it - we hav just had christmas morning and tonight have Xmas dinner (and overnight stay) at our best friends' house (with their 3 little boys) and then Chanukah starts tonight too.  as it lasts 8 nights and i put aside 8 presents for each of the girls i think our house is insane with wrapping paper

before you think i am insane we have pressies from friends and family too and i bought some second hand books and puzzles for the girsl too since i knew it was going to be 8 days + Xmas (last year alex did not know too much so we did not do the full holiday..) This is the first time in over 50 years that mas and Chanukah have fallen on the same day :D

Christmas was insane.

Things I learned this Christmas:

1. Everything takes much longer with a baby.
2. Only open presents when baby is in a good mood (preferably after a nap and after eating).
3. Only open a few presents at a time, wait, then open a few more later.
4. Open all boxes, assemble all toys, insert all batteries, THEN wrap presents so toys are ready to go immediately.
5. Always have wire cutters handy.
6. Caffine Free Pepsi still appears to have some caffine.  I'm wired.

I will do things differently for Asher's birthday.  He was mildly interested in opening presents, but was quickly bored when he realized the pretty shiney play thing was behind plastic and it's gonna take a stick of dynamite to get it out.      He was more interested in eating the paper and bows (note photo).  We will put away most of the new toys tomorrow and start the rotation with just a few so its not so overwhelming.  The FP Drop N Roar Dinosaur was a big hit though, even though I was a afraid it might be too young for him.  He's just starting to get into cause/effect stuff and shape sorters/ball droppers.  He never sat still longer enough before!

Overall, it was good.  He got some good stuff and some not so good stuff (some people just have NO clue about buying toys!  ).  And he got several long sleeved shirts and sweaters -- even though it was 80 degrees today!    And these people have lived here for 20+ years!

Well, Christmas was great!  We had such a great day.  Reading Julie's post made me smile.  I definitely agree with your first point learnt - things take longer with a baby!  Daniel enjoyed all the present opening but he did get a little overwhelmed towards the end and started making a new whinge noise we'd not heard before.

He did so well though and surprisingly followed my plan / timetable for the day     He stayed awake from 7am til 11.30am.  Then had a good nap.  Then ate Christmas dinner with us (he loves turkey!).  Then played happily.  Then slept for about 1.25 hours til about 5.30pm.  Then we all went to my SIL (not the one with the newborn :!: ) for the evening (15 of us altogether).  Daniel stayed up (happily) til 9pm playing.  Then he slept on the floor between 2 pillows (  ) straight through til we went home at about 12.30.  Talk about angel baby.  He made us soooo proud.  His cousin was using his travel cot so Daniel got the floor (well on a sleeping bag to add a bit of comfort).  But he didn't seem to mind at all.

Christmas dinner was a laugh.  Having recently had all these problems with daniel not wanting to eat any finger foods he decided turkey was not worth wasting.  Oh and daddy's chocolate mouse was worth eating too.  After the meal we let Daniel get really messy.  We squirted cream on to his tray and let him explore (see photo attached).  Needless to say we had to bath him straight after!

We're off out for a brisk walk now to burn off all the extra calories.  (Diet will have to start again in the new year  )

Hope everyone survived the day well.  Look forward to hearing all the fun stories soon.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas/Chanukah. We too learned many things like Julieb. Although I have to admit that Leah did great! Our festivities started Friday night and we still have another one this afternoon.  Somehow Leah managed to get herself on a 8 to 8 schedule, which has helped us greatly. Now I have to move it back to a 7 to 7 when I go back to school (I may just enjoy it for a few days more!  :D ) Sat night and last night she went to sleep at different peoples houses and we picked her up and took her home around 11, then she went right back to sleep at home. I was amazed at how adaptable she was. She got WAY too many toys and was a bit overwhelmed. She did get her push walker though and boy she really moves! I have vidoes and pics I will post on dropshots sometime this week. Will post more later. Love the pictures and stories ladies! Keep them coming!
