Good Afternoon all!

Hello and thanks for the welcome -Andrea, Ankie, Lisa, Nikki, Hayley, and Erin.

I appreciate you posting your schedules as well. Helpful to look at.
Ok so went out this morning and got both books, - secrets of the baby whisperer and the baby whisperer, solves all your problems.  The problem remains, which one to read first,  and when to find the time with a fussy one??????

Traci - thanks for the page information.  and btw yes I am one of the ladies that was at the pickering town centre that day, if I remember correctly your mil was babysitting right?  Wow small world, and as you can see I took your advice and came on board here at the BW....got the books today as well.  And....yes my son is the one with reflux.  We just had a dr's appt this morning, the increased his medication.  I don't think his reflux helps with the sleeping either, its painful sometimes, and wakes him up constantly.........

Well, off now to see if I can put Brady down for a nap, wish me luck pls

Holly,

that's great!  I thought it might be you.  You didn't mention the reflux in your original post and that's why I was unsure.  And your son was mostly turned away in the stroller so I didn't recognize his pic...which is totally cute by the way.  I am sending you a PM with my phone number.  Feel free to call if you think talking over some stuff might help first.

As for which book to read first.  There is a temperment quiz in the first book which might be helpful...but other than that you may want to start with the EASY, Sleep and PUPD chapters in the other book.  It's more specific than the first book.  I read the first book before Cole was born and found it somewhat vague I think.  Of course pregnancy brain could have been contributing.

okay, i'll discuss more over PM.

Hi Ladies,

Well it has been awhile...we have lost our networks throughout the caribbean (damn wilma) so the internet ect... have been on and off and I have finally caught up on all the new posts!!

Good question  as to where are all the new ladies???

Holly welcome and these ladies seem to have it covered but by all means come here for all the support you need and PS, it is a great place to vent  !!

Andrea - what great pic's, Taylor looks adorable.  I wish it was cooler here so Sophie could wear tights!!

Traci - Well done on the shopping spree, bet you look fab!!

Hayley - Sophie had a weird week last week and was sort of ambivalent towards her solids but she is back to her hungry as a horse self, so maybe it is just a phase?

Bec LOL about the head tilt!!  I feel the same way about Sophie always having her mouth hanging open   !

Kate - OMG soooooooo cute and weel done on no cry baby!!

Naomi glad to hear J is feeling better and would love a chat sometime.

In a another 5 weeks I will not have stinky work to contend with so I will want plenty of chats!!!!  Although I will stick with some consulting (maybe)!

It is Sophie's 6 months today!!  She is now doing laps of her crib throughout the night and has started flipping onto her stomach to sleep half the time.  Nothing has dissrupted her sleep yet though (knock on wood)!!  I am anxiously waiting for the crawling to begin in earnest as Sophie is a bit of a whacko I am scared for her to become truly mobile  !

I am also worried well not worried but am questioning Sophie sleeping through the night - b/c she does go fully from 7 or 730PM to 6 or 630AM without waking or eating (we do not do a df), I wonder if she is getting enough food?  I know stupid thing to worry about and I should be thankful but I guess we always have tofret about something, any other of your LO's going that long without eating?

HI Guys,

we jsut got back from Taylor's 6 month check up and it went very well...def. getting better at taking the shots! :D   She only cried for a few minutes.  She is 27.5 inches and is in the 100th percentile!  she is going to be tall like her momma.

Thanks for all the compliments on the pics!  It was the first time all 3 of us were dressed up together since she was born, so wanted to share the special occasion    Eveyone elses pics are super cute too!  Kate I think you have the cutest monkey ever, and Becca, love the avatar!  And Micky, what  a cute punkin!

Naomi, I hope you get the job!  I'm sure you were brilliant at your interview.  You know  they usually don't keep you that long if they are not interested.  I agree, we should have our own chat sometime!

Holly, I agree with Traci on reading more of the 2nd one.  I thought it was much more thourough, but the 1st one had good background info. too.  Traci will be great help to you (both Tracy's that is!)

So I don't have an actual pic of T in her Holloween get up yet, BUT, I do have a really funny pic of her naked with just her Minnie Mouse ears on!  While DH was getting her bath ready I undressed her and brought her out with just the ears.  We were crackign up for quite a while!

I'm back.      Well, I WAS going to dye my hair...got all ready and no hair dye.   :?   Oh, well...will have to touch up later.

So, scariest moment so far.  We were going to an Open House since my il's are thinking about moving closer to us.  (They are currently about 30 mins. away.  Would be much nicer for me since mil does our day care when I work 2 mornings/week).  Anyway, we were looking at the basement.  Dh had Ryan and was the last one coming down.  All of the sudden I hear, "Whoa!" and I whip around to see my husband FALLING DOWN THE STAIRS WITH RYAN IN HIS ARMS!!!!      Holy cats!  Dh was wonderful.  Totally sacrificed his own body to protect Ryan.  He rolled Ryan into his body, then rolled his body to land on the side that wasn't holding the baby (if that makes sense).  Ryan was fine and seemed confused when everyone came rushing over and why sil and mil were screaming.  I was unusually calm.  Just felt like I knew they'd be okay, even when they were falling.  I got freaked afterwards, but during the time it was not scary for me.  Not sure why.  Dh is all banged up.   :(   Really hurt his ankle, knee, ribs, and something else (can't remember).  Like I said, totally sacrificed his body for my baby.  What a guy...if only he wasn't so sore I'd let him know how much I appreciated it.      We kept saying, "I can't believe Ryan hasn't fallen off the bed or the changing table or gotten hurt yet."  I guess this will count for our near death experience!

Holly, I think BWSAYP would be better for your situation, BUT I remember reading it thinking, "If I hadn't read the first book, I'd be really confused."  So, read the BWSAYP, but go back to the first book if you are lost.  You CAN do it!!!!!

I want to have this worry!!!  :D  :D  :D   Richelle honestly I wouldn't worry at all.  My older girls were both sleeping like that at 12weeks every night and I never worried about it.  Sophie's body knows what she needs.  Man what I'd pay to get my girls doing that!!!  The last two nights around here have been crazy and it isn't just baby sleep that's insane.  It's also toddler/preschooler bedtime.  Last night I told dh I was ready to walk out the door and take off for a while at about 8.30pm.   I swear by 5pm I'm stressing already about dinner hour and bedtime for Kaia and Hannah.   They're overtired and cranky come 5.15pm.  Catnap is almost impossible to get out of them and it all goes downhill from there!  Ugh.... so when I do finally get them to fall asleep (well hannah that is as kaia goes off to sleep on her own just fine) Zoe honestly purposely starts being loud in order to upset me or wake them.      I finally went to my room and closed the door and left it all for dh to deal with as I was honestly too frustrated.  It took me 1.5hours to get Hannah to sleep, and was ready and offering to read books to the older two when Zoe decided to just holler.  Nothing specific just whatever she could think of to make as much noise as possible and the more we asked/suggested she quiet down the louder she got.  UGH!!!   Same thing the night before and she succeeded in waking them up!!  Oh - the dark side of me emerged I was so ticked!

So - they go to bed LATE (I'm mean like 10pm!!!!!!) and then wake up by 7am and are exhausted - then fall asleep during the next day and aren't tried at bedtime again... and again and again.  Day after day after day.

Anyway gotta scoot.  I'm trying to keep Zoe awake with the tv while I feed - it's that time of day she can sneak in a nap because I'm busy feeding.  Sarah - I already lost that fight and just hoping that an hour nap at 1.30pm won't affect bedtime toooo bad.

DH is going to Italy for 10days the end of November - please bedtime has got to be better by then!  He's gone for 3days this week too.

Holly Great to have you here!!  Hope you can get Brady's sleep worked out.  Too cool that you actually met Traci!!

Welcome HOLLY! Sounds like the other girls have got you sorted. Great advice from Ankie, to take it one nap at a time. It will be a tough few weeks but pop in and vent if you need to!
Cute pics of all the costumes!
KATE-the mokey costume was just precious! OMG, how scary was the fall! I keep dreading the day Sam falls. Your dh, what a guy!
MICKY-what a hoot, your little pumpkin looked good enough to eat!
RICHELLE-Sam goes 6-6 or 6.30 before his next feed so I would not worry. I was really worried at first but Judy put my mind at ease. I only do 4 milk feeds during the day plus 3 solid meals. When I was teaching him to sleep during the night and not wake for a feed, I would cluster him in the evenings but I have since stopped doing that as he is now having solids.
ANDREA-would love to see the whole costume so do post it when you take one.
NAOMI-good luck and do let us know about the job.
NIKKI-what sheet do you mean? Is it the plunket/Watties sheet or do you have a separate one? The Plunket one is so short and there is stuff I would like to know about, like strawberries. Also, does the nitrates in carrots apply here in NZ?
Great idea about organising a chat for our thread!
I go back to work on Monday the 31st of October
Part of me is really looking forward to it, I need a bit of a challenge but I will miss Sam soooo much.
Another great day here so must make the most of it.

wow, things are busy for all of us today.

Judy-sorry DH is gone so much this week and in November...gotta get that Hannah on board with BW

Kate- that is by far the scariest moment  so glad ryan is okay.  I'm sure DH will recover, hopefully ALL of his parts

Richelle- hope things get back to normal soon for you.  watching the news is so scary.  I can't believe you experienced it first hand
Happy 6 months to Sophie :)   And I wouldn't go fretting over the full nights sleep.  if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Naomi-great news about the interview.  It's always good when they keep you a long time.  good luck! Happy Jayson is feeling better too.

Andrea-Minney is way cute, can't wait to see the full costume

Cole did end up having a short AM nap. Think he was fussy because he's teething, not tired.  Tons of drool today.  he had a 1.5 hour second nap though so we're back on track.  Down for catnap now...not sure how long to let him go because of his good second nap.  hmmmm.
I picked up Heinz carrots at the store and fresh avocado, sweet potato, butternut squash, potato, pears and apples.  I'm going to busy the next few days boiling, pureeing and freezing!
