Oh and I meant to send a shout out to Naomi to brace yourself hon...130 km winds headed your way.

Also, Naomi, Ankie and I chatted last night and we thought Sunday or Monday would be a good day for our chat.  Sunday because then our DHs could watch the babes.  Anyway, put in your votes.  Once we've got the date then we'll work on time or maybe post your suggested time with your preferred day.

We're all over the map for time zones so hopefully we can find something that works...another reason sunday might be good.

LOL Hayley - feeding in the box, very cute and hey whatever works!

Traci I just read your post and looked over and Sophie has grown enought to be flat footed in her exersaucer!  I wonder too why that is?

richelle-can you raise the supports?  Cole is on the second notch and there is one more to go.  maybe it has something to do with their leg development?  i suspect it has more to do with them being able to get out easier if that's the case.

Hayley--too funny about the picture! I guess if it works, go for it! LOL

Richelle--I was the one asking about losing weight. I have struggled with my weight since jr. high. I lost 40 pounds after college, then got sick and put about 15 back on. I was hoping to lose it before I got pregnant, but that didn't happen. I still have about 12 pounds too lose of my pregnancy weight, plus the 15 I wanted to lose before. Even though I've done it before, it seems to be so much harder now!! I don't know if it's the fact that I'm getting older (now in my 30s as opposed to 20s when I lost it before) or what my body went through with pregnancy.

Well, still working on the Avatar thing, ladies...sometimes I'm a little slow. And I haven't had a chance to ask DH for help yet. So bear with me!

Judy - I was reading my post just now and real;ized I sounded a bit bossy or insensitive.  I was not trying to say you should leave your girls to cry with strangers or that anything is wrong with them being shy  , I think it is sweet!  Just telling a story of Sophie with strangers......

Traci hmmm - I wonder why they have that warning on your exersaucer.  I looked at the info that came with mine (Leap Pad Learn & Groove) and it doesn't say anything about adjusting the height.  AND there's a picture of a boy playing in it and his feet are both flat. ???

Both K&H are able to have their feet flat... Kaia really jumps in it too!   :D

Richelle I didn't think your post sounded bossy at all - just telling how things go for you.  I think it's great that Sophie calms down and has a hoot with everyone!! :)  I'm a real protective mama bear I guess - if my girls cry for me then I never refuse that - I know my mom and MIL try to leave the room hoping to distract them... I give them the chance but if it doesn't work I go right over within minutes and get them - mom and MIL don't like it but tough.  I just say "oh are you looking for a bit of mom time?"  Maybe I am making them more cautious - not sure.

hi all!!

Hayley!!  That picture cracked me up!! :D    Very inovative! :)

Bec: I'm impressed that you are going camping!!  Are you going to be in a tent or a trailer??  I'm very curious because DH and I love to camp but I am too chicken (Jack being ulta touchy!!)

I realized this morning that Jackson had never seen his bedroom from the floor point of view so I thought that I would plop him down while I got a diaper ready.  Well, he started getting the bottom lip quiver going until he saw where I was standing then he just looked completely concerned!!  Like "Where the heck am I" look!

Andrea: YOUCH!!  I hope you are feeling better soon!

My vote for the chat is Sunday.  None of my closet shows are on that night!   :D

Hi everyone - lots to say!
Bec - Yay for the night sleep  :D  and enjoy your camping.  We left Katie for one night with my parents in the beginning of September to go to a wedding.  It was probably way more traumatic for me than her, but she did fine.  It was very hard for me (especially as the night wore on and I continued drinking with my college friends...) but eventually my mom said -- she's fine, don't worry about it, don't call us until tomorrow, have fun -- she could probably tell I was "enjoying" myself   - nine months of pregnancy + 7 months of breastfeeding = very little alcohol!

Andrea - Hope those feet feel better!

Naomi - fingers crossed for the job!

Micky - Hooray for getting out - and I hate seeing little ones crying too when I'm out - when we flew back from Puerto Rico, there was a tiny baby in the front of the plane who cried for the first 45 min or so - poor LO, probably had no idea what was going on, poor parents too!

Hayley - LOVE the pic!

Judy - I was reading your posts about how touchy your girls are and thinking about how great it is that they'll always have each other to related to - I bet that will help them in the long run.  Wow, do you have your hands full though.

Karen - good luck going back to work!...we'll be here for support.

Richelle - Congrats on not going back to smoking - DH is working on that too, not an easy thing.  It seems to be much harder to find time to exercise now - I used to just go to the gym every day and now I've got Katie to contend with.

Traci - My Exersaucer has the same warning - I think it has to do with them launching themselves out or climbing out - however, Katie is already somewhat flat footed and we're on the last notch and I don't see any signs of her flying out, so I'm not going to worry about it.  I wonder if that's the kind of thing that one kid did once and now they have to put the warning on all of them...

As for us, we're having a strange morning.  DH got up early and accidentally work Katie up (his clothes are in her room, so there's not much to do about that), so he brought her back to our room and put her in bed with me   and she and I fell asleep...until 9:30    she must have been tired!  And the she went down for a nap again at 11:15.  Maybe she's finally catching up on her sleep from our vacation.  I think she just likes to snuggle in bed though.  I won't bring her there unless it's technically "morning" - as in after about 6:30 or so and she's upset and still needs to sleep, but wow is it tempting to do it whenever she's up in the middle of the night - I know I'd regret it later though...
Anyway, enough rambling from me - here's our Halloween preview.  Sunday is better for me than Monday for chat, but either should be ok as long as it's after 8 on the east coast.

erin: totally cute octopus!!  LOL!

Is anyone else having issues with their skin??  My skin is so out of whack!  Even when I was a teenager I didn't have zits like I've got now! GROSS!

I feel like a total geek but I'm all excited that I made friends with my neighbor.  She's got a new LO (5 weeks old).  I'm the "experienced" mom now!!     LOL!!  Isn't that a joke!  It's going to be nice here today so I've made a "date" with her to go for a walk to a coffee shop near by.  YEAH!  How exciting!  How can you tell I need more adult interaction??     :?

Wow you girls move fast on this board...lol

So I read a bit of Tracy's new book, and found out what all of you probably already know of me when I posted my story, (Ive been accidental parenting) I guess.  We had the worst night ever last night, I'm at my wits end.  Near Breakdown.  We tried our first night of a routine, Brady went to bed at 7pm, but fell asleep while feeding....so one mistake there i guess, then he work at 10pm....I did p/c-p/d for about 2 hours, wow so tiring, that's for sure....he'd cry, I'd try and soothe him, p/u p/d, he'd cry again....over and over.  At about midnight, I thought maybe he was hungry, cause he didn't have a df, so I nursed him.....he fell asleep at the breast.....another mistake I did., and then in a nut shell, our night was the same.  He was up most all night, and crying.  When I picked Brady up, he's arch his back or fight me and in the book it says to put them back down, so I kept doing this.   Needless to say, really bad night.  I need help so badly......Nervous breakdown coming....sorry for the long vent...I'm feeling usless as a Mom right now.

Help :?

Holly,

You probably just need to fine tune your technique.  I'll be calling you in a few minutes...just gotta eat my sandwich.  I'm hoping I can help...it's been a while since I've had to do full blown PU/PD.

OMG micky, I can totally understand the interaction needs...why do you think I'm here all the time...now if one of you fine ladies could join me for a walk today and some coffee??

Hayley-I love the box picture.  Funny.

Erin- I have done the very same thing. dh loves to snuggle with Sophie in our bed.  Ironice since I always thought I would be the one who would want her in bed with us....anyhow, once in awhile I am sure it's fine, depending on the child of course...it doesn't seem to effect Sophie's ability to go back to her crib for sleeps.
The octopus is adorable!!!

Holly, hang in there, it WILL get easier.  Just keep trying.  I know how hard it is.  One thing I suggest is making a plan...like, what would you like for your nights to look like...and of course make it attainable, not the ultimate.  This way when you are up all night, you can look at your plan to help you remember what you wanted to do...if you stray, OK, no problem, but at least his eliminates the need to constantly be making decisions at odd hours of the morning/night.  HTH.  And remember one nap at a time, one night at a time, one feeding at a time.  This too shall pass.

I am impressed with you moms and your overnights away.  I have to try that.  I am so chicken.

OK, a few questions. For those of you who are bottle feeding, how many oz/ml do your lo's typically eat now adays (with solids)...I just do not know what is up with Sophie.  She went all night, 10-7 (after 10 df) with no feeds...thought she would be hungry as usual at 7, but only took 2oz!!
Yesterday we only did 4 feeds, dropped the 11o'clock because she just wasn't interested.  Any ideas???

Also, how much baby einstein do you let your lo's watch?  We have a few, baby monet is her fav...I have been letting her watch it like every day, but feeling a little guilty.  And other TV, do you, or you and dh watch tv when lo is in the room playing? Just curious.  I know I should probably really get a life and get over it, but I guess I just need some opinions...

Thanks for the puking support BTW
 I swear our carpet looks like a leopard's coat...white spots everywhere....not to mention all of my clothes etc.  I like the term "spiller" instead of puker.  I don't know tho...if she continues to not want to eat much, maybe we should try the meds???

Finally, what DO you do about the cleaning issues? We sort of work on the barter system here...cleaning/chores for sexual favors...as sick as that sounds...it kinda works.  But sure would like other suggestions.

Feel better Andrea.
Sunday is good for me for a chat...anytime really, I am so much earlier than most of you...whatever works. Monday works too, but later like around 7.
Hannah

Hey Guys, thanks for the well wishes with my toes.  yes, Traci, hard to imagine me being glamorous with cut up toes!   So I was in some pain last night and took Tylenol PM to help me sleep, but still was up from 3-5:30 in some discomfort.  Finally fell back asleep only to be woken by Taylor at 6 am and she was HUNGRY!!!  So fed her and she fell right back to sleep, and then I completely slept through my alarm (remember I said I was setting my alarm to get her back on a consistent wake up time?).  SO I went in at 8:30 and she was happily playing in her crib, so who knows how long she had been up.  WHICH LEADS ME TO MY POINT...

I FEEL LIKE SUCH A LOSER LATELY!!!
It seems like every other day for the last 2 weeks I have been doing something selfishly to get her off her routine.  For instance joining 2 different mommy and me groups, meeting up with the BW moms, taking her on the car trip a couple of weeks ago, etc.  The list goes on.

Luckily she is so adaptable that she still is doing awesome at night, but could her naps be better, YES, and I know it is my fault.  And we have a play date scheduled with me nephews tomorrow, then another class on Thur.  So she will be going on and off routine for almost 3 weeks!!!  I guess I'm not really looking for any answers, just some reassurance that after this week I will be able to get her back into the swing of things and she won't be harmed too much.  Anyone else ever feel like this?  I guess it is the one drawback of being on a routine, you will break it at times and will beat yourself up about it.

She is such a good little girl though...this morning after I got her up at 8:30, I wanted her to try to get a nap in before our class and keep with her nap biorythym so I put her down for a nap at 9:30 (normally 9), and she went down with minimal fussing.  She had only been up for an hour!  She'll probably only nap for 45 min., but at least we will sort of be on schedule, right?

Thanks for listening!
