Okay, so here it is. This is what happens when mummy drives to local chemist to get teething powder. Can you see Daniel amongsth everything else on the table!

Oh yeah,as much as I complain we're way out of town, we do have some shops only 3 mins drive from us, but they're things like chemist, bakery, hardware store, not nice clothes shops or anything I'd go for a stroll around.

And should I mention this? Daniel's been asleep now for 2hours 50 mins. I keep checking on him. I think this teething powder has worked a treat! He obviously really needed it. He's way past his next official feed time, but I'd given him a top up at 9am to make sure he wasn't hungry and not sleeping, so I guess as that's now 3 1/2 hours ago, he hasn't gone too long. He even slept thru the midday air siren.

Ankie, I love the chopsticks idea. But I'm trying to picture sloppy pumpkin with chopsticks... mmmmm. My DH encourages us to use chopsticks when we have meals that suit them, I"m not so good on the rice at the end though. I get frustrated. Haven't quite got the knack.

Enough from me. Happy days!

girls...remember what we posted at the start of this thread.  don't feel obligated to read and respond to everyone.  I admit that I try to as well, but we certainly don't want this becoming a burden, do we?

I forgot to comment on tv watching.  when i first found BW I thought Cole was way overstimulated so didn't turn on the tv for about 4 weeks other than his Einstein video.  I used to have him watch it every day while i puttered in the kitchen for a bit.  Now that he's mobile I will put it on and let him choose if he wants to watch it.

My DH likes to have it on all the time.  he can't be home without the tv on...so Cole watches it with him sometimes.  most times when it's on he just plays with his toys.

I just read in Tracy's book somewhere to be careful what they watch...at some age images can remain in their head and if they are scary cause nightmares.  FYI. Not that any of us are watching Seven or something with our los.  I don't remember the age....

Oh Hayley that is the cutest picture!!

Hi everyone - I am still here, just lurking at the moment.  I will come back and post when I am feeling a little more up to it...  Like when I've got something good to say.

Oh, I would love to chat (probably) - Monday is one of my office days but I can sometimes sneak on and chat a bit, just have to see how the day is going.  One of you time zone gurus just needs to let me know what time to be there - I am on the east coast of Australia, in Brisbane.

Cheers all
Jo

Hannah--My Olivia just went through the same thing last week--sleeping all night, then only taking 4 oz in the morning. She wouldn't be very interested at the 11:00 bottle either...maybe 3 oz then. But she would make up for it in the evenings, and sometimes wake to eat during the night (she typically doesn't). This week she has snapped out of it, though and it eating us out of house and home it seems! I think it might have been related to her teeth. Is Sophie teething?

Andrea--I wouldn't worry too much about being off routine. I try to get out and about a couple days a week, which usually throws us off routine somewhat. I figure the point of having a routine is to have something to come back to, not something to dictate your life by.

Bec--I don't rememer if you said...are you taking your LO camping with you? WE are supposed to go camping next weekend and leave Liv with ILs. I'm still not convinced I can do it...even though they live 10 minutes from where we'll be camping!

Holly--hang in there...it takes time. PU/PD did not work for us either...it stimulated too much. But Pat/SHHHH works great still. I say stick with PU/PD long enough to try to make it work, but if it just doesn't, you might try something else like Pat/SHHHH.

Ankie--I hear you on the snacks! I suppose I could cut back, too. But I seem to be hungry all the time as well. I thought it would subside when I stopped nursing. It has gotten better, but I still feel like I'm always hungry. Speaking of nursing...everyone said how much weight you lose breastfeeding. Well, I gained 7 pounds while I was breastfeeding!! I felt like some kind of freak!! I've lost it before, I suppose I can do it again. I just have to resolve myself I'll have to do it all over again after each child.

OK, girls...I win the Worst Spouse Award this year. Tomorrow is our anniversary and I haven't even THOUGHT of what to do for DH. We agreed on no gifts this year, just cards. And I do have a card, but that's all. He went to "do some things" after work tonight that I know are related to our anniversary, so now I'm thinking I should plan something a little more. I better go get started on that...YIKES!!

Don't know if I'll be checking much the rest of the week. DH is off and we're doing fun stuff around town with Liv...it's our little "family vacation together." Our anniversary celebration is SAturday night...complete with babysitter.

Hayley, here's the post I put about my discover of the celiac.

http://babywhisperer.com/forum/celiac-disease-anyone-else-vt43633.html

OK, chat times, Naomi, I'm not sure of your times in relation to us but if you chat the normal time that you usually would with the big organised one - Monday for me is fine, that fits in well with me as it's around 2pm and both kids are sleeping.  Aussies, are you guys still 3hrs behind us (Bris/Syd etc) or maybe it's 2hrs now - anyway around 11am-12pm for you unless you're up north.  Hayley, in your profile you can change the GMT to +12hrs (although it's an hour out because of daylight savings).  But in saying that, I can't get into my profile today.

I have Baby Einstein DVD's on in the afternoon for Nathan for an hour or so and sometimes I put Danielle in the lounge too to watch it, often she's in the jolly jumper for 15mins or so as well.

Re TV, I think the main concern with current research is the moving images and flicking between scenes being too fast for children under 2 and it can lead to ADHD (they actually recommend no TV for children under 2).  But I feel fine letting D watch Einstein or we have a Play School DVD with the presenters singing nursery rhymes in a low-key kind of way.

Richelle, Nathan's off to doc in a few hours so will let you all know what the outcome is.

Ok, off for a cuppa and a wee read (or maybe I'd better read my study material....).

Riley looks so beautiful! You guys must have so much fun dressing your LO's up. I'm off to get portraits done of Daniel tomorrow, they give you one free, so I'm thinking I might have to do one or two in normal clothes, plus a couple dressed up - just for fun!

Interesting about the celiac Nikki, I never realised it was such a widely spread and undiagnosed condition. Hopefully your and Nathan's life will soon get a lot easier. THnaks for the GMT info. I've set it for +13 hours as I think that would be right with DLSavings.

As for Baby Mozart, it's on right now as Daniel has some lying on the floor time. The only way I can get him to lie down happily instead of sitting up - and I can be on here at the same time.

Nancy ok as the new mom to your dh's child I think you should stick to the 'no gifts this year' agreed upon policy AND I think dh should get you something anyway!! :)  As it should be!!  Would never happen around here though.  And just as well - I bought a new vacuum recently and dh commented that I got a good deal - much cheaper than what he was looking at for me for Christmas last year.   A vacuum? for Christmas? So sorry you didn't find one!  HAA!

Hannah household chores... nothing set anywhere.  I do most of the cleaning.  Dh puts laundry in the washer and dryer often and I fold and put away.  He does dishes and kitchen most nights.  Will vacuum if I ask.  No 'trades' or 'barters' though .  If anything I'll say something like "do you want to change this diaper or fold the towels?"  He'll usually go for diaper but sometimes gives me a 'neither'.

As for tv.  Don't put anything on for K&H.  Never have tv on for us when the older girls are awake - unless it's food network but even that is rare.  They do watch Dora many days and there have been days I've let them watch an hour in our bed while I napped (zoboomafoo, caillou).  Sometimes in the late afternoon I'll put on Clifford if it's on and they are looking like they are about to fall asleep and I'm feeding.  It keeps them awake till I'm done with K&H and then I can work to keep them up.  But, as you've seen - they can drop on a moments notice too.

Erin What a cute Octopus!!!

Naomi Riley looks so cute as a butterfly!!

Love ALL the halloween pics.  Gee and I didn't get anything for K&H this year.  Was going to buy them some cute pumpkin outfits at Children's Place but dh looked at me crazy when I told him of the price.  Oh well...

Ankie we have the same rocking chairs and today Kaia was leaning so far forward she had her head stuck on the front side of the bar that goes overtop and holds the toys!!  HA!!

Jo hey don't just lurk girl - post away, vent, moan, that's what we're here for!

Haley LOVE that pic!!  That box sure comes in handy.  I had dh look at it... he doesn't know much of this site other than it's on the computer a lot.  Anyway, he says "what is there something wrong with that?  maybe it's a doll in the box. no?" "oh! what's it say on the box?" what a guy.  I love it!!

I better stop here and scoot.  Sarah fell alseep on me twice today at 5.30pm  Got her up once and carried her with me to put Hannah to bed but she walked away and went BACK to sleep so I put her to bed hoping she'd stay there the night.  Well she got up at about 7.30pm.  GREAT time of day for a 2 hour nap eh??  So now it's 10.15pm and she's plyaing beside me - think I'll take her to my bed and snuggle with her.

Oh yeah - on taking your kids to your bed.  I've given up trying to avoid that... but I tell ya if anything is motivating to NOT do it - it's being slammed in the head with another head multiple times.  OR having your preschool so close to you that everytime she rolls/moves she puts an elbow down on your overused nursing nipples.     I just don't have the energy to argue with them in the night anymore.  Good thing we have a king size bed.

Hayley, DH and I had a good laugh over the pic again.  It doesn't look real.  Looks like something off MAD tv or something.  Not sure you've ever heard of that.

Well, likely no Halloween party for me saturday.  Cole flat out refused the bottle just now.  I can't wait for him to start sleeping all night so I can have a life again.  DH is going to start doing breakfast/first nap tomorrow.  I think he feels bad that he hasn't had time to give Cole the bottle and that's why he's not taking it.  Maybe if he gets used to DH spending more time then he'll take it again.  He'll have to start taking something once the boobie magic gets taken away in a couple of months!

good night ladies.

Naomi... Cute, cute butterfly!! I can't wait to get Arwyn into her costume. A few of my drop-in friends are getting together on Sunday for a Halloween Brunch. I'll make sure I post pictures! (Nancy, you are not the only one married to an IT guy who feels she should have better computer skills  )

Hayley...  DHs, eh? But that is one cute picture. I see you are preserving that box for future feedings.  I've been using chopsticks since I was two (or so says my mother) and I have already purchased a mini pair for Arwyn. She loves it when I feed her Cheerios from them... she will grab the chopstics and guide them toward her mouth. I really have to hold on so she doesn't hurt herself! Yeah... I don't know how I would fair with smooshie pumpkin either.

Nancy... I lost so much blood (5 of my 11 units) during delivery that my body burned alot of my fat stores that were supposed to be for making milk and I ended up almost at my prepregnancy weight. I was told to EAT so that I would recover my blood and start making milk. Once I gained about 8 pounds back, I felt WAY better and sure enough, was making milk. Since then, I have put on a few more and keep hoping for a small miracle to take it off. I just feel lazy when it comes to exercise. I am good about most other things, I just can't seem to get out and move... not the "go for a stroll with Arwyn" kind of move but the "I need to lose weight" kind of move, KWIM? Part of me wishes I never gained those pounds back but I guess it was for the best... Have a great anniversary celebration!

Judy...  Arwyn also got her head stuck in front of the bar!!! Gotta wonder how they managed to get past the bar in the first place.  Guess they are more flexible going one way than the other???

Judy your posts always make me laugh.  I guess it pays to have a sense of humor with your brood

Traci thanks for the reminder about not needing to respond to everyone.  I hate to not sometimes because I want everyone to know that I am listening and I usually do have something to say...surprise surprise.. but still, it's good to be reminded.  Sorry no good ideas for haloween costumes.  Did you come up with something?

Hayley, that box pic is too funny.  I keep going back to look at it for a laugh.  I think it does almost trump the half naked Sara on the coffee table. Although that one still makes me lol.  BTW what are the tooth powders that you are using? I wonder if we can get them here?

Thanks to everyone for the tv watching input.  dh is a tv on all the time kinda guy and I am not at all.  Sophie seems to want to watch it if it is on...I have tried toys, turning her away etc.  I usually end up sitting with my back to the tv and her sitting between my legs with some toys to keep her from watching.  I guess I am just a bit of a worrier...especially about the troubling images. We can be watching the most innocent show..like the world series and all of a sudden a preview for a movie comes on and people are being hacked to death with a saw!  NOT something I want her to see now or ever.  She does absolutely love the baby einstein...so we will continue with that.  had a good talk with dh about it tonight.  When I mentioned the "scary images" stuff, he could really understand...he doesn't want his little tiny girlfriend to see that stuff either.

OK, I just pumped and the bottles are sitting here along with my tea and I keep reaching for the bottle when I want my tea!! Yuck!

And yes, yuck to the egg concoction.  It is cracking me up how different all of the food stuff is.  I can't wait, I am going to buy cheerios etc...all because you guys say it's ok.

Nikki- I have a couple of friends with babes who have celiac (sp?)  I think they told me that there are support websites dedicated to this topic alone.  I can find out if you're interested.

I think Sophie is teething..Olivia's mommy (I forgot your name! ) I do think it must be teeth.  She already has the bottom front two but it looks like she has some pretty big bumps on either side of those....She didn't really make up for it tonight.  She only drank about 17oz all day!!!  I will do a df for sure tonight, as always although I have been wanting to drop it, but perhaps now is not the time....anyhow, hopefully she'll take at least 6-8.
Does anyone know the ideal intake amount for ebm at this age? or formula?  Is there even a way to fgure it out...EEeesh.   That is one thing that has always confused me abou the bw book, when she talks about dropping the df, she says that you just add oz to the other bottles and decrease oz from the df...well what to do if your lo won't take more oz at other feedings??
OK, enough from me.
Riley is way too cute.

OK, I know I said I wouldn't be able to post for awhile, but you people are addictive! LOL Actually, DH is fast asleep and I'm waiting to do DF at 11:00, so thought I'd see what's going on.

Judy--a vacuum for Christmas?!?!? I'm so sorry!!! Did you let him know you expect something a little better this year?

Ankie--so sorry to hear about your trouble in delivery. I'm glad you were able to recover well and still BF your precious girl. I've found the only way I can get the weight to come off is through exercise, specifically jogging or running. I've tried everything else...weight watchers, South Beach, high protein, pilates, tae bo. I do OK for a few weeks, but then I get bored with it and that's the end of it. I've found that jogging is good "me" time. The only problem is, I don't have the time anymore. I've been trying to do it during her first nap. It seems to work pretty well; I've just settled on the fact that the house won't get cleaned and laundry won't get done during that time. I wish I could get up and do it early in the morning...but that just won't happen. We are not a morning-person household. I wish we were!!!

Hannah-I know what you mean about TV. I think Olivia got very overstimulated by it in the beginning. (I didn't find BW until she was 6 weeks, and she had TERRIBLE screaming fits in the evenings before that. Then I realized I was feeding her, etc. in front of the TV most of the time.) Now we usually don't have it on when she's awake. Occasionally I'll flip it on for a little bit during the day with her. But I don't like to do it often. As for Baby Einstein. We tried it a few months ago and she wasn't all that interested, we'll probably try it again soon. But I also want to keep that to a minimum.

Well, it's almost time for DF...have a great night ladies. May all your LOs sleep well for you (and mine too!)  :D
