Looks heavenly Bec - where is it?  (You are in Newcastle right??)  I am SO not a camper but I could imagine going there for a picnic

So everyone - I know this is a bizarre question but I feel like I would like to get to know you all better.  I will start with a question, which was prompted through some of the posts:

How tall are you and how tall is your DH?

I noticed that Nikki and Ankie are little 'uns, and Andrea, I recall you saying you were tall.  It's a bizzare question but I am just wondering...
(OK, so I wanted to post but not about the baby...)

I am 5'9" and DH is 6'5".  I'm guessing Fraser will be tall!  :D

Reply if you feel like (or call me a weirdo interested in bizarre stuff and tell me to mind my own business if you prefer   :D )

Bye for now

hi guys!

I am 5'4" and DH is 5'11" (but he was only 5'6" until grade 11~ 17 years old) so I'm hoping Jackson is taking after him because right now he is barely on the growth charts.  Little stunted shrimp!

Some of you were talking about 'spills'.  Well Jack doesn't normally but today we had a scene out of the exorcist!!!  He had just downed a full 8 oz. bottle then I picked him up with my arm wraped around his belly and out came the full 8 oz.!!!    The dogs were in 7th heaven! GROSS!!!

good night all/or good morning for those of you on the other side of the globe.

Hi ladies. First of all LOL Micky about the exorcist scene and the dogs. eewwww!!!

Hayley I am so glad Daniel is OK.  We gave Sophie some tooth gel tonight and it started a major melt down of crying.  DH said he'd rather just hear her little fussing than try to make it better and cause that.  We'll have to try the powder.  And, I totally know what you mean about napping instead of me time! I hate it when i have to do that...it completely sets me off for the whole day and then some.  Good luck without dh around for the new few days.

Thanks for the compliments Traci.  I really needed that.

Andrea, I did actually miss you.  And I am actually glad you're back.  Looking forward to chatting on Sunday.

Bec- the camp site is amazing!  I am sooo jealous.  Dh and I surf too, or did surf...we haven't been since baby.. but it's always cold and wetsuits here in the pacific northwest.  I hope you have a great time!

OK, I am 5'8"  Dh is about 5'8 and 1/2"  I had a REALLY hard time with this when we were first dating.  I liked to have my men tower over me.  It's just, when that's the only thing holding you back from being with a wonderful person...it just seems a little silly.  I wear a lot of flat shoes now :)

Hugs to Ankie for the yucky day.

OK, here's a little story for ya.  I finally got up the nerve to give Sophie a biter biscuit today.  I gave her one at bfast and dh and I were like oohhh it's so cute, our little baby is growing up yadda, yadda, yadda...so then I decided to give her another one at lunch to hold her off until I had her lunch ready.  She breaks it into a million pieces, eventually after gumming it to death....then I committ the mommy cardinal sin of all and "turn my back for a second"  When I turn around again, she has every piece of biscuit in her mouth and is semi-choking on them!!!  So I had to reach in, grab the mashed up biscuit pieces out of her mouth and do a little baby heimlich-type move to make sure nothing was stuck in there.  She was fine, it was just that her mouth was too full, nothing in her windpipe.  Ach, I was more panicked than she was...but I kept thinking back to first aid class when you are supposed the ask the person "Are you ok? Are you Ok?" And I kept thinking, she can't talk, how will I know if she's truly choking or not??
Alls well that ends well.
Have a good night
Hannah

Must go to bed...but had to check in with my girlies!!!

I am 5'7" and dh is 6'5".  I think Ryan is following his papa b/c he's been 97% the last few times and was 90% from birth.  Yikes!

Hannah...the same thing happened with Ryan and the Biter Biscuits.      Evil!!!  At least for now....they'll probably be fine once they can handle more solid foods.  It's the texture I think.  We're doing the Gerber melt in your mouth things and it's much better.  Even if he starts to "choke" it melts before I start to freak.  It is so scary, though, isn't it?

Thanks, Traci, for the compliments...right back at you.  It made me smile when you said that Cole is such an easy baby...made me remember your first few posts and how much trouble you were having.  You've come a long way, baby!      Thank God for Tracy Hogg and my "imaginary friends!"  (Whoever's dh said that, it is now how I keep thinking of you.  I must come up with something else!)

Okay, off to dreamland! Have a great day!!!

Hannah - I know just how you felt. It must have been a 24hour baby choking/spluttering 'bug'. LOL. I found out from a friend today that she uses the weleda teething powder but commits a cardinal sin (in fussy people's eyes) and licks her clean finger then dips that into the powder and rubs that on baby's gums. So I tried that and it was a lot easier. Just did it 2-3 times to get enough in there. Daniel didn't like it at first but then next minute he was sucking my finger to get the stuff off.   :D

As for my measurements.... well, height anyway, I'm 5ft 4.75inch and I totally agree with Traci, every little bit of height counts when you want to be taller.  DH is 6ft so I'm sure Daniel will take after him. He's in the top 80% for his age and height.

Yay, finally after 2 x 50 min naps today Daniel just slept 1.5hours again. I managed to do some jobs AND have a 30 min nap. A little longer for me would have been better, but I spent too long talking to my friend about her daughters 1st b/day party next week. She had been to some 1 yr old parties recently where they played games and gave our little gifts to all the kids when they left. We decided that at 1yr old they don't need either, the party is more for the adults, bubbly and nice food! But at 2years, that's a different story. Now I hope I haven't offended any mums who have done that for a 1st b/day party, but it just wasn't for her.

Bec - that place looks like heaven. How wonderful. Enjoy

Well, I'm 5"1 and dh is about 6".0.  James is already 71cm long (he was 51cm at birth) so not sure who he will take after.  James looks like his dad but with my colouring.

Hope everyone north of the border has a lovely (?) Halloween.

My height 5'7" DH 6'6"
Nikki-thanks for the info on the barfing and coughing
Micky-Cooper, our dog, enjoys vomit tremendously.  Today he had it all over his face!  I just can't get it cleaned up fast enough and every time he hears even the slightest barfing sound he is right in his face. :?
Hayley-so glad everything is better.
Traci-you deserve a huge relaxation and break from everything, hoping you can have a mini break from things
Bec-great to hear that you are going camping
Here is my choking story.  I made green beans and thought I pureed them enough.  Well... I assumed that Ben was just having problems with the texture.  After red eyes, tears, an open mouth and more open mouth I took him out of the high chair, tossed the beans and looked up the hemlich remover.  I took infant CPR but I can't remember a thing.
Happy weekend to all of you.

Ooooh, feeling for you gals with the choking.  I had to do the heimlich with Nathan at this age, and even Danielle a few weeks back was choking on her cracker too - fortunately it was just in the back of her throat and was freaking her out a bit.

Hayley I always wondered that about the teething powder (I use individual remedies instead) a friend of mine had the same problem, and it reminds of when we were kids and there was that sherbert that you could buy in paper bags and suck up through straws - used to scare me to bits!  Glad that Daniel is ok.

Nikki - what's an individual remedy? Where's it from and does it last a while or just for a few hours?

Incase any of you kiwi's were watching Cambell Live tonight (Friday) and saw the part about childrens art, the little boy (with the gold head band?!?) who they spoke to mostly was my cousin's son! The one who said about painting circles for his mum and dad. What a surprise I got to see him on tv. He's a star!  :D

Hayley, the teething powder is made up of about 4-5 remedies if I remember rightly - so it's basically going to get lucky with one of them.  But what I prefer to do is prescribe a remedy based on the specific symptoms at the time.  Chamomilla is probably the #1 teething remedy and when kids are likely to have (but not necessarily all of) one red cheek, they're oversensitive, unbearable pain, green poo, kids are clingy and only quiet when held.  Pulsatilla, aconite and belladonna are good too but with slightly different symptoms.  I just have a little first aid kit which has about 24 remedies in it that I use for acute (first aid type) things without needing to visit the homeopath.  Health shops stock the remedies individually as well, you can repeat it for as long as the pain is there (perhaps every 15mins if you like - similar to the instructions on the powder bottle).

I didn't see Campbell Live, how neat to have your little cousin's son on there.

Hi Ladies,

I have finally caught up (at work  ) I came in early this am to read all the latest posts and hopefully reply!!

I am 5'6 & DH is 6'2, dh is also what i would classify as 'willowy', he would throttle me if he knew I used that term to describe him.  Anyway I am hoping Sophie is long and willowy (like her dad heehee)!

I also have given sophie the biter biscuits and like Ankie she noe already knows the term 'cookie'!  I usually only give them to her when we go out.  We plunk her in a high chair and give her a cookie, although it is very messy and I have also had to pull chunks out of her mouth and give her a good clap on the back a few times, she loves them(gerber biter biscuits).  I forgot who said but she also likes the melt in your mouth puffs.

I had a scary choking moment when I gave her a slice of melon thinking she would just suck/gum it, well 1st thing, she  bites a huge hunk off the end and swallows:shock:  I also seemed to stay calm, picked her up flipped her upside down and clapped her on the back!  My DH had never understood truely how baby heimlich worked so good thing he got a demo!!  I had to hand her to DH, I was shaking so badly afterwards!

Micky - I second the ewwwww, dogs will be dogs!

Kate - Sophie too is seeming frustrated being confined and she does laps of her crib before falling asleep but we have yet to experience a meltdown, so no advice here.

Traci - Right back at you babe!!  Get some rest!

I too now refer to you as my imaginary friends, who's DH said that, it seems to have stuck.  My god, I had better get back to work!

Good Morning Ladies

Sorry I haven't been back in a day or so....we were having some computer problems,  I still have to go back and get caught up on all of you and how you are doing.  I will post again later.

Brady's day yesterday was up at 5:00, bf at 5:30, cereal at 6:00, starting to show sighns of sleepiness, a little after 7am, so  quiet time and in bed by 7:30. Wake at 9:30, bottle, 10am cereal, play time, floor time etc, started nap time at 12pm. didn't fall asleep until 12:30, slept for 30 minutes. Wouldn't go back down until almost 4pm, I was so stressed about missing his nap window, and he only slept for 40mins.

We then had our supper, bottle etc. Wind down time, story time, etc
put to bed at 7pm, but wouldn't fall asleep until 8m.  Slept through till 11pm, and from there he was up every hour on the hour.  I can't seem to stop the df, and if I do at 10-11, he's up at around 3am for sure for bf,

We slept today from 3am till 7:30, now going by his schedule, he should have got up at 6:30, but I was tired and fell asleep too, so we got of schedule,   Ive come to the realization that p/u p/d makes Brady's reflux worse, so that is not an option for us.  Going to try the pat/shh and hopefully it will work.  Trying so hard to maintain a routine.  I know its one nap at a time though.

Hope you are all doing well, and I'll go back and get caught up soon.
