Hi girls

Welcome Jody!

Judy, stick with it, it sounds like you're doing a fab job.

Hayley, solids here just happen to work out about an hour after milk - breakfast because I get up and have a shower between BFing and getting breakfast, lunch and dinner are just timed in with Nathan's mealtimes at 12 and 5pm.

Karen, re ttc, I really wanted to ttc about 9mths but still hadn't had my period and it didn't return until Nathan was 12mths old when he was down to one feed a day (even though he hadn't fed in teh night since 3mths).  You could get ovulation predictor tests though, since you could be ovulating anyway and just not now it?

Well Danielle's been sleeping through the night for the last week, so I'm hoping this time it is for real and not going to revert back after teasing me for a week!   :)

Welcome to the Group Jody!  Lucky girl with the twins being angels, and they are sleeping so well. Congrats :D

Great Pic Naomi

Yah!!!Kate for the 13 hours sleep...I can only hope and wish!

Traci - I'm not sure if Brady's reflux is improving or not, when they increase his meds, he decided not to take his medication for almost a week, so we have just found that mixing it with Pear juice and he will take it, so now I need to try and keep it into him before I know if he is going to get better yet.  We also have a GI Dr appt this week for a check up.  OK, so I got the "word" now...I'm with you I have been using that as an excuse for Brady's wake ups too, along with maybe reflux....but it may be just that, an excuse....he is chewing a lot, drooling a lot etc, but no rash, no fever, so I don't know.
Hey, and you have time to read??? Good for you, you go girl.....

Roz - I'm having trouble  dropping the DF as well, so I don't have any great advice yet....

OMG Hannah, what an adorbable pic....just love it!!!!!

Ankie...sorry you had a bad nite last nite...I agree 2hours of pu/pd is too long, I've been there, and I think its soooo exhausting.  Hope tonite is better for you.

Well after Brady's 45 minute nap today, he managed to have 1.5 hours this afternoon, which I then took the time to have an hour nap as well, boy did I need it.  We didn't get our walk in today though... :(

He's getting quite cranky right now, so I'm off to see if we can do an cat nap....he's in need of it I think.

Welcome Jody.  Your girls are sooo cute!  I love the avatar pic with the matching bumbos and sunglasses.  So fun, and lucky for you they are angels and sleep!  Jody and Judy both with twins...now that could be tough for some of the more sleep deprived moms :)

Ankie, hang in there.  You are a champ for going through that last night.  Dh sounds so much like my dh.  It's so easy to get frustrated when you are tired  and your child is screaming in your ear, as I am sure you know only too well.  I just wanted to say really try to take it one day/night at a time.  Don't think about school or anything else except helping her sleep right now.  Have you ever heard the expression "Don't borrow trouble?"  I have to repeat that like a mantra to myself every day.  To only deal with the situation at hand is hard enough.  You are doing so well.  It will get better.   Someone said I hope you're sleeping when she does...everything else can wait.  Get what sleep you can to help you stay on track for the night ahead.  Same plan for tonight? Or anything new?  Wish I had a great tip to share.  Hopefully Jo has helped.

Hayley such a cute picture of you and Daniel.  He looks so shiny and perfect :)!  How do you keep him looking so clean ...lol.  Sophie always has a smear of something on her face or a great big booger hanging out of her nose.  Sh still all out cries if I try to clean her off.  It figures, as neat freak as I am I'd end up with Pigpen for a child :)

Traci, yes I was afraid she would fall off, but I had to take the pictures (only two) before I moved her...it was just too funny.  She always has been long, 95th-100th percentile since birth.
I am sending hugs to you too for your nightime struggles.  Glad you are enjoying some peaceful reading time when you can...tel me more about these books??
And you too Holly and Judy!!! Gosh, lots of support here for moms doing pu/pd...
Kate...you are a brave woman for posting the too much sleep question on this thread at this moment...

I am going in for a haircut myself tomorrow.  I just don't know if I can handle growing it out..it's just so short...way too many ugly duckling stages to go through before anything nice starts to happen.  I tried to grow it last year while pg...now THAT was really smart..here I was huge/bloated and with bad hair...:) Maybe I'll post a pic of that...sure to make even the sleep deprived moms laugh.
Take care ladies,
BTW loving the creative acronyms :)

Hi everyone,

Nikki - great to hear Nathan's diet going well and Danielle is sleeping all night !! Halle slept overnight for 3 weeks but now it seems she is having the odd waking. It's not hard to put her back to sleep though so I am pretty happy with that. Haven't tried many finger foods yet but we went to IL's for tea the other day and MIL gave her a piece of rockmelon and she went very well with it. I am going to try steamed veges cut into the shape of chips this week.

Mel - we are going over to Margaret River next April - can't wait to see it !!! We have friends in the area who are getting married so we decided to do a trip over (looooonnnggg drive  )

Hayley - we made the exact macaroni toy the other day at IL's because i forgot to take toys with me. DD loved it !! It was so funny when I read your post!

Jody - welcome  :) your dd's are so cute in those little glasses !!

Hello to everyone else and big hugs to everyone doing pu/pd i know it is so hard. I actually had more success not picking up. Just patting dd in the cot and stopping as soon as she stopped crying etc etc seemed to work quicker and cause less crying. She is spirited so I suppose the pu/pd just mad her very mad.

I think that is all.....

Cheers

This thread sure does move fast!  I was here earleir today and there are already 3 new pages!!!  That's so great!

Karen:  One of my best friends just got pregnant while still breast feeding 4 times a day.  Her DD was 9 months when she got pregnant.  They tried for 2 months and then used an ovulation kit for a month and voila!!!

Traci:  Carter's awake time was always 2 hours until about 2 weeks ago when he started having shorter naps (1.5 hrs to 1hr 10mins to 1 hr).  I moved it to 2.5 hours of awake time and he seemed fine until he got sick last week.  Even now when I go to put him down after 2.5 hrs he seems so wide awake.  He rolls around in his crib, tries to play with me, claps his hands etc  It takes forever to just settle him enough to stop flailing his arms.  We just stopped swaddling last week as well because out of nowhere he started freaking out if his one arm was trapped.

I was reading an article today that said babies should double their birth weight by the age of 6 months!??  Did any of you actually have that happen??  Carter was 8lbs 13oz, 21.5in long at birth and at 6 months he was 16lbs, 25 3/4 in long which is not double his weight!   He is now 18lbs and 28in long!!!  Out of curiosity, how big are all of our March/April 05 babies???

I just wanted to say that I am impressed with all the pu/pd that is going on!  I am glad that there is someone who I can ask about it if needed!!!   With the way things are going, I am sure I will need it soon!!!!

Hi again, a few hours and a few pages later. Crikey.

Thanks for the nice comments about Daniel, I am lucky as he's a very smiley laughy baby, so much so I always get comments from other mums.

Jody, welcome to our madness......

Birth weight versus now? Daniel was born 9lb 3oz and at 7 months he weighed ... oh, not sure, the books in his room and I don't want to disturb, that'll have to wait. Sorry.

We've had an appliance death in our family today, not an appliance I really want to live without. THE MICROWAVE!!! You don't realise how often you use it until it doesn't go. It went POOFFFF about 2 hours ago and already I've gone to use it 4 times, including wanting to reheat my coffee which inevitably goes cold before I finish drinking. And now we're on bottles I'm going to have to resort to boiling the jug and warming the bottle in that. Daniel likes it really warm too, so I guess it's going to take a while. We can't afford to go and buy another one, so we're going to borrow my MIL really old one about the size of a small TV! We won't be seeing them until the weekend though, so we'll have a few days without.

I gave Daniel his solids before his lunch bottle today and he gobbled up 3 cubes of food. Yay! That's more like it. Then he still managed a 200ml bottle about 30 mins later, and we were at a friends house, so he drank 'in public'. Things are definitely on the up and up.

Anyway, must go and finish making Daniel's food parcels.

Hannah was 5lbs 15 oz at birth and 13lbs at 6months

Zoe was 6lbs 2oz at birth and 16lbs ??oz at 6months

Sarah was 7lbs 11oz at birth and about the same as Zoe at 6months so 16ish lbs.

Cole was 7lb 13oz at birth and 16.25 lbs at 6 months.  He doesn't go for another check up until 1 year. Maybe i'll take him in just to get weighed though...

Hello Jody and welcome... I am familiar with your twins as I see their cute little beings on the Photo Gallery all the time. Thanks so much for sharing!

Arwyn was 8lbs 9oz at birth and 17lbs 6oz at 6 months. She didn't double her birth weight but I am not worried. She is currently in the 95-100th percentile in both length and weight according to the charts and they are based on formula babies. Arwyn is EBF.

Okay... Hayley... I truly tried to sleep when Arwyn slept but she slept a grand total of 60 min between the two naps today. As a result, we put her to bed at 5:40 pm. I started nursing then... fell asleep... woke up to one phone call, then another, then another... at the 3rd phone call, Arwyn woke up (off my breast which is unusual) and started screaming. And that, folks, has been the kind of day we've endured.

Okay... new plan... pu/pd until 10 pm... feed between 10 & 11... pu/pd until 4 hrs from last feed... feed if necessary and then pu/pd until morning. I realized yesterday that DH and I made her cry for 2 hours basically until I nursed her at 4 am. I am not so comfortable with that so... I am reverting back to the 4 hour time frame.

Oh... and I do expect a rough night. Arwyn crawled using a proper cross-pattern today  :D but of course, that means more development and more night wakings  .

Will update tomorrow!

Well don't know what Danielle was at 6mths since her last well-visit was at 5mths and we don't have another one until 9mths.

She was 4kg (8lb13oz) at birth and at 5mths was 6.6kg.  She was still on the chart on the 50% line though, just a minimal weight gainer, so no worries.  She's chubby and content.  Will be interested to see what she is though.

Dh is working late again tonight so here I am again.

Ankie..good luck tonight.

I have a feeling we are going to be in the same boat with you soon...I can just feel it coming with the way things have been today and last night.

We had big happenings here today...Sophie clapped!  :) She seemed so proud and just couldn't stop doing it all day long.  We had lots of visitors today so she got to show off for everyone.  She's such a ham.

She had a lot of trouble going down so we'll see what happens.

My taggie blanket finally came today!  I wanted to elt her sleep with it but I figured I'd wait another day or two.  She has been chewing on the blanket she sleeps under and it gets so gross...I am sure the taggie will too.
OK, Sophie was 8lbs 9oz or something...bad mom, I can't remember!  She was 16lbs even at her 6mo. check up.

Bec...so glad I can make someone laugh!  My friend's 3 year old son was over today and your post was on the computer screen and he was like "Look Mommy it's baby Sophia"  I thought that was funny.  I guess all babies pretty much look the same to a 3 year old :)

Wishing you all good nights tonight and a wink or two of sleep. (and days to others)
