OMG, you ladies are busy!!!  Well, 45 minutes later I have caught up...and I didn't even go anywhere!  But, I agree with Hannah (I think) totally like a favorite show.  Let's see how Arwyn/Cole/Brady/everyone else did last night.  I am cheering for you pu/pd'ers!  Btw, I totally have jinxed myself with my silly sleep stress.  Lot of shorter naps and less night sleep in the last 48 hours or so.  Serves me right!

Richelle:  Loved the pic.  Sophie looks just like her cute mama!   8)

Traci:  Such a cool nursery!  Mil did something similar in her nursery, but (shhhh) I like yours better.

Jody: So glad to have you...I love checking out the Twinsicles in the photo gallery, too.  My friend is pg with twins and now I always think of them as the Twinsicles, too.  Too cute!

Ryan was 9 lbs. at birth and about 20 at 6 months. I wouldn't worry, Roz.  I know Ryan was over that, but since they're so long and their feet hang over the side of the scale, I think he weighed even more.  Now that he can sit up, it'll be more accurate, I'm sure.

What else?  With all those pages, I'm sure I forgot something.  Sorry!!!

Got Ryan's first Christmas presents today.  I ordered them from a toy fair at mil's preschool...10% off and all proceeds go to charity.  Can't beat that!  But, now I have to wait so long to give them to him.   :?   I'll hide them from myself and then I'll probaby forget all about it!

We made 4 bottle things a few weeks ago, after someone suggested it:  rice, popcorn (unpopped), pull tabs from soda cans, and bells and pom poms.  They all sound so different...Ryan likes to move one around, then another, and back to the first, etc.  They are good motivators for crawling, too.   :)

That's it for now...I'll have to check back tonight so I don't get so behind again!
Kate,

Oh here are all of us Kiwi's loggin in for the day LOL!

Andrea, a few pages back - no, noone got kicked off the website.  But maybe people are referring to Teddy?  She just requested to be deregistered from the site.

I also haven't burped Danielle for quite a few months, she just lets it out as soon as I sit her up, if there's one there is, if not she's not bothered by it.

I got my hair cut the other day, a bit shorter than what I was planning on, but it'll give it a few months to grow out and not need cutting.  It's not horrible, just a bit of a short bob.

Loving all the pics everyone!  And all the milfs (Naomi  ).

Karen, no teeth here either and no signs of them.  Nathan only popped his first two around 7-8mths, so who knows.

Hayley, I hate the gritty feeling on my kitchen floor too, only I'm pretty slack about sweeping it up (prop needs doing daily). Especially when Nathan's been doing science experiments with pantry items.

Right, better go get myself sorted out and we're off for a playdate.

Good morning everyone,

I wasn't going to check until tonight - lucky I did because I had three pages to read

Love the pictures everyone they are so great ! I will have to get some on myself when i work out how to do it - I am so techno-challenged

Judy - just wondering - are you putting the girls back to bed early in the morning and then waking them later? Halle is waking up at 5.30 so I am not sure what to do because I want her wake up time to be around 6.30. This morning she was up at 5.30 - yawning, rubbing eyes at 7.50 back to bed -now it's 8.40 and she is awake again

Naomi - LOL at milf !!! I don't think you will offend anyone on this thread - everyone is pretty cool 8)

Jo - How was your night out and where did you go?

I am freaking out at the infant seat thing - I have a convertable one that is suitable from newborn to about 4yrs (i think) It is rear facing until they weigh more than 8kg so I have had it forward facing for a while now.  :?

Ok everyone, can you make this sound?

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

now try to make the sound with the back of your throat instead of your lips - kwim?

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

now - can you do that for 20mins??????????????

HALLE CAN !!! several times per night

Richelle - yup, it was Katie who went from 2 teeth to 6 teeth in about a week and a half a little bit ago (I just couldn't figure out what was wrong with her either before they all appeared!).

Naomi - LOL about the milfs (and yes, I too had to have DH explain that one to me a few months ago as well).

Traci - love the nursery - very creative.

Bec - I know what you mean about the sounds - Katie is now grinding her teeth together (the two that are actually long enough to grind) - nasty noise it makes!

2 questions for everyone:
1) What CDs/music do you like to play for your LOs?  We have a few Dan Zanes CDs that I LOVE (if you haven't heard of him, he's great - so enjoyable to listen to for Mom and Dad as well as Katie).  I also just bought a bunch of Baby Einsteins that I like, but I'm always looking for more.

2) On a serious note, what kind of car seats do you have (not the infant base, but the one they are growing into (or have already grown into)?  I have a Cosco/Eddie Bauer one and I'm having these horrible guilt pangs that I didn't buy the top of the line $300 Britax one that I didn't know existed when I registered.  Some background - I've been in 5(!) car accidents in the past 5 years - none were my fault, wasn't even driving for 3 of them (those weren't the drivers' faults either), was seriously hurt in one, mildly injured in one, and came out of the others fine (I do consider myself very lucky in that).  So, am I being neurotic?  Do I have a point worrying about this?  How much do all of you think about this?  I think I just need to hear from other people.

Thanks ladies!

Erin-I have the Britax Marathon as mentioned above.  The salesperson explained to me that although some of the other seats go higher in weight restrictions the kids often outgrow them in height.  I justified the extra expense in that Cole will be in the seat until he is 3 or 4 years old.

If you are happy with how your seat works then I'd say stick with it.  Some complain that Eddie Bauer/Cosco straps are difficult to fasten, twist a lot etc.  Like I said to Hannah above, no car seat is worthy of any value if not installed properly and the child is not buckled in.  One complaint of the Britax is that the lever to undo the straps in hidden under a measely velcroed piece of fabric.  If you look at consumer reviews people comment their children can reach it, pull on it and loosen their straps.  I mentioned this where I bought our seat and the women simply said "if they are strapped in as tight as they should be then they wouldn't be able to reach it"  Brilliant!

For those that may not know, there should only be 1 fingers worth of space at the chest.  You are essentially making your child "one" with the seat.  If there is too much give they will get whiplash or other such injuries in the event of a crash.

Do any of you move your seat from car to car?  I have a girlfriend who doesn't own a car, so she has to install her seat in cabs, friends cars etc.  I explained this at the store and the women looked at me like I had two heads.  A good installation should take an experienced person at least 10 minutes.  I can't imagine someone doing that hopping in and out of a cab.  I can post a pic of my installation tomorrow if anyone is curious.

what I'm trying to get at is that you could have a $1000 seat and it won't help your baby one bit if not installed well.

FYI, we installed our infant seat ourselves.  I took it out before she could see how it had been done.  She simply commented that it couldn't have been in tight enough because there should have been a huge indent in the leather.

i'll get off my soapbox now. I hope I haven't scared anyone.  After learning about this it is something I feel very strongly about.

I wanted to leave that post separate

I have a couple of things.  First, I am going to have to move bath to the morning.  I can't believe he just went to sleep after the wrestling match we just had.  I am exhausted!  I had to diaper him standing up.  If I want him lying down now I'd have to forcefully pin his arms down with my feet.  I change him on the floor in between my legs otherwise there is just no restraining him.

Also, I've wanted to post this for a while. Do any of you "hear" your babies when they aren't making any noise.  Like when you're in the shower, down in the basement doing laundry and forgot the monitor, doing dishes?  I think I'm going completely mental because I swear I hear Cole crying when I'm doing these things.

On a positive note, he had three good naps today, all one hour long.  I really want to get rid of the catnap, but this is working so i'll leave it alone.

don't be surprised if i'm back here later girls :P

hi girls!!

it's been a couple of days since i posted and i think about 10 pages later....i think i got mostly caught up.  I don't get to be on here nearly as much as when DH isn't home!   I miss my little addiction!!

Erin-we also have the same convertible carseat as you and I don't think you need the most expensive one to be the safest.  As long as they are fitted properly and strapped in properly.  Up here you can go to you fire dept. on scheduled days to get it checked out.

My question: does teething cause diarrhea???  Jack has gone from being completely bunged up to having diarrhea!   He has been pulling "ryans" left and right!  He just had a major poopy blow-out that went all the way up his back to his neck and down his legs!   I think I got the better job of cleaning Jack off vs. DH having to rinse out his poopy clothes!  GROSS!!!  Jack is starting to cut his top front teeth-they are bugging him way more then the bottom ones did.

Traci how do you use photobucket again to post pics??  I've been trying to post one of myself and I can't figure it out anymore.  I love your nursery...so colorful

Hayley-Jackson eats probably 25 oz of formula in a day-not sure what that is in mls sorry.  He eats 4 bottles and 3 solid meals.

i gotta try and stay caught up...it's too hard to read so many pages and then remember all that is going on.

traci-i totally agree with what you said about the carseat--it took DH and I about an hour to get installed properly with me sitting on top of it.  I was having issues with tightening our Cosco carseat straps but have finally figured it out so that I can tighten it properly.

Hi Everyone,

Well, we had our night out last night.  I probably made it sound like a big deal (well, it kind of was because I haven't been out an night with Fraser since he was about 6 weeks old).  We went to DH's cousin's house (CIL??  ).  He and his wife have a DS 1 month older than Fraser.  We are very close and we catch up with them regularly.  We go there during the day, or they come here days and evenings.  So they invited us for dinner and I decided that we would try it.

So we drove through peak hour to get there and it took about an hour.  Fraser napped in the car for about 20 minutes after crying most of the trip (his new trick  ).  When we got there he ate his evening solids and then the boys had they bath together (so cute!!)  I gave Fraser his final feed and, although he was drowsy, he wouldn't go off to sleep in the porta-cot (pack-n-play).  I was with him almost an hour before I got him down (held him to sleep), he then woke after 10 minutes or so and DH went and held him for a couple more minutes and then put him back down.

He was ok from there on until we left, cried a bit when I transitioned him into the car but slept, was fine again when I transistioned him into his cot and he fell asleep.

He was then awake at 1.30 (I fed), 3.30 (I fed at 4) and 6.  So I would have to say not the most successful outing.  I am in no hurry to do that again (and now I dread Christmas even more).  Anyway, that's my sob.

Ankie - I am so sorry last night was no improvement.  Keep working on those plans but remember to try and keep consistent as much as possible.

Holly - Hugs.  Take inspiration from the mums who have had success

Nikki - I am SO SAD to hear that Teddy has asked to be de-registered.  I loved reading Teddy's perspective on things, I thought she made a lot of sense.  I know you are friendly with Teddy so if you are still in contact with her please tell her that, although I never "spoke" to her, I will miss her opinions very much.  I hope her departure is not permanent.

Right-o.  Fraser is down having an early nap, was very hard to settle.  I am working from home today so I should go and attend to some of that (although it's a little like Richelle and the housework, you can be guaranteed that I will be lurking for most of the day!!)

Bye all!

boy, it's a good thing i have nothing to do LOL

Micky-add a picture to your album by clicking on the Browse button and selecting a pic off your pc.  Hit Submit.  The pic will show up and you copy/paste the image code into the main body of your post (don't use the attachment feature).  At least that's how I do it.  I like to resize my photo before importing into photobucket.

Hi Ladies,

Sorry Hayley about the confusion, great idea on the toy - Sophie loves it!

I went and bought the Britax Marathon chair - the really pretty yellow one with dark pink flowers!!  Pretty over practical is what I always say!  I did buy the Denim cover if it gets too dirty and if we have a boy, he won't have a complex from sitting in a girlie chair.  Also the chair cost 380USD here - one of the down sides of island living.

I am going to install the chair tomorrow and take it back so the guy can have a look to see if i did it right.

Traci   about your friend with no car - I would be a basketcase by now.  I thought it was a production with one to get places with Sophie!

Erin - Sophie & I listen to whatever mommy is listening to  !  She loves the Moulin Rouge soundtrack and Jack Johnsdon - I am most likely scarring her for llife!  I should maybe consider getting some baby music.....

Naomi - I keep meaning to say I ROTFLMAO at the MILF thing!!  Classic and I can't imagine that offending anyone!

Must run - it is bedtime bottle/cuddle time!

You guys have been very busy...

Micky - good to see you, literally!  I was just wondering how you guys were doing

So glad I asked you ladies about the car seat.  I'm going to do my homework but now know I better get out, buy one and make sure its installed properly.  We got the PegPrego as a gift.  Do the convertible ones make it easy to get LO in and out?  What are your complaints about them?  Thanks for all the info Traci.

Richelle - LOL about DH's 7 phone calls.  You look smashing by the way!

Holly - Sol hated peaches as well until I mixed them with rice cereal and banana.  I even sneak a bite while feeding him.

Bec -  :D  :D  :D  I sometimes think there are dogs growling in Ds's room at night.

Hannah - I don't need to encourage burps with Sol.  Between all the gas and his daily hiccups (started in the womb)  he could start a one man band.

I can't remember anything else but I hope you all have a good evening.  The ILs are coming over to visit, AGAIN.  :(  I really have to get over this.  It's not them either, I know its me.
Oh well...
