okay, I thought I would end the suspense.  Just didn't have time to post today.  two 30 minute naps followed a great 1.5 hour morning one :?

Cole hasn't been eating well lately from the boob.  He's only been taking one side.  Last night after catnap I BF first instead of solids, with the intention of topping him up before bed.  So his last milk feed was at 4:30.  Ate both sides (YAY) and had a good dinner.  After bath and our diaper/dressing wrestling match he wasn't interested in eating so off he went to sleep at 5:45.  I had a feeling I would pay for the very early BF.

He woke briefly at one point around 7:15 or so but settled himself back.  Then he woke at 8:30.  HMMM, do I do pupd or do I feed.  It had been 4 hours after all.  Given I was relaxing with DH (yes, JUST relaxing) I figured I'd feed him.  So, here I am thinking, there is just NO way he'll make it til 5:30 or 6:00 in the morning. And I was right.

He only made it til 3:50 am.  But do you realize what a huge success that is!!!???  He finally made it past his 2am wake up.  Hoooorayyy.

Of course, I woke at 3:20 and with all my sleep couldn't get back to sleep until after I fed him.  He then woke at 5:40 for the day.  Yahooooo!

I am trying as hard as I can to stretch him until 6.  I would do anything for him to go 6-6 instead of being up before 6am.  For now though I will be grateful for my little miracle.  Expecting a regression at some point.

okay, gotta run.  He's in the saucer again and is absolutely joyous in it bouncing up and down which means he's in overdrive and I must calm him for a little bit.

back later girls!

Hi everyone,  you really cannot turn your computer off can you - this forum moves too fast

We are going really well, we now have four teeth and feeding and sleeping are going well.  We have found a new "favourite" food - turkish bread toasted with hommus on it.  Thinks this is great! :D

Is anyone have the 5am wake up?   This has jsut started for us and although I don't mind as I am up already (Dh leaves for work at 5:30am) get a bit confused as to how to do morning routine.  At the moment it goes:

5am awake
5:30am get out of bed
6am:  bottle
6:15am-7am play
7am breakfast (ceral/toast)
7:30am shower/wash
8am:  nap

does this sound like the routine of everyone else, or would you put them down for a nap before breakfast?  It works so might continue, just curious.  also, does it end?  he goes to bed at 6:30pm and wakes at 5am.  Not complaining as he only wakes at night if he gets caught in cot.  We jsut fix him up and a few pats and he is off again.  My heart goes out to everyone having sleeping problems. :(

Developmentally, we are now cruising around the lounge (holding on and walking around) so I don;t think walking is too far away.  Is everyone looking forward to christmas?  I have decided since it is James' first Christmas to decorate the tree in silver, blue and a little purple for me.  I stood my ground last christmas and said my lo was having his first christmas at home (we always drive everywhere   :x ) so christmas is here this year :D

Hope everyone has a lovely day.  is aussie/kiwi chat on tonight?  i will definitely be on tonight if anyone is interested.

talk soon

whoops, wanted to share a photo of James having a real "grown up" breakfast - scrambled eggs and baked beans last Sunday.  Do you think he enjoyed it

Hi Ladies,

Not as busy as yesterday!!  Thanks to me... !

Thanks for the stress pep talks, I honestly don;t know why I get so worked up?

Andrea - I am an area manger for a group of restaurants owned by a company on island.  Basically I oversee the day to day operations of 3 restaurants but also run the floor and back of house for the 2 larger ones .  It is difficult, time consuming and I used to love it and love the pace but now with Sophie I can't kid myself, I just can't do it.  I feel like I am failing everywhere and thought to myself "what exactly am I trying to prove?"  I figure Sophie is most important and if I go crazy I am a very clever girl so I am sure I will figure something out!!   By the way, is this moderator thing new?  Or have i really been out to lunch?  I also am excited to see your website any timelines yet?

Traci - WAYTOGO!!!!  I am so happy for you and just think that it can only get better - he went 8 HOURS!!!!!

MIcky - Do you and Jack enjoy the class?  I wish we had something like that here but then I had a friend in Canada that said she didn't like the music class for infants.

Lisa - good to see you again.  Hummus huh?  I should try Sophie on it.  We tried watermelon today and she HATED it.  I thought I had this great little eater but I think she is turning into a fuss put...

Hannah - I know that my nanny has a small heart attack every time she comes over and sees how dirty Sophie is.  I know that as soon as I am out the door she runs and changes her and gives her a quick wash!  SHe said something in filipino under her breath the other day when Sophie was rolling around on the tile and sucking on a corner of the area rug, what can I say...

I forget who asked about the pooping but I can hear from another room when Sophie is 'pulling a Ryan'.  MY DH laughs his arse off everytime he sees her poo - he said it is the upside of having to change the reaking mess!

Kate - Cute website!

Ok I am working at the moment could anyone tell?       at least we are not having a repeat of my house cleaning/posting cycle yesterday.  If I did do that at work they would probably be counting their lucky stars that I have resigned.

Ok really gotta run......

Hannah, cleaning the girls.... hmmm I am probably too nuts about it. I whipe them down between bites sometimes. I guess I just think that I wouldn't like to have food al over my face while Im eating so why would they? But then again they have no clue and I am too fussy. The thing is, is I'm not a neat freak, I just hate mess... and having twins sure puts a damper on the cleanliness of my abode. My parents got us a house cleaner every two weeks as a "hold crap you have twins" present. I guess while I was on bedrest my mother (who lived with me and DH for the 6 weeks to help out) got sick of me saying "mom there is a speck of dust on the floor could you get it.. Mom there is a spot on the window could you clean it?".... Don't blame her.

Lisa- When did you start giving James eggs? I would love to give the girls them, and just like you did let them eat it themselves. They want everything we eat but I just didn't know when (or how) to introduce eggs to them. I am afraid they will gag. They don't like any baby food that isn't completely mushy. I tried 8 month heinz "chicken casserole" and on the first nite they both BARFED-huge projectile (TMI sorry). Did James have that problem?

Micky- Sometime next week I am sure to be going to the mall... The dreadful Christmas shopping has kicked me in the butt again and I have gotten maybe 2 ppl gifts... leave it to me to leave it to the last minute.

Seeing as it will be our babies first christmas this question is for all of you...

What are you going to get you lo for Christmas??
Dh and I are building a house so we will be moving in a few months, so we don't want to get them anything really ( they don't even know what Christmas is right?) So any $ we think about spending on them we are putting into their RESP's.... do you guys have any ideas or suggestions though??

okay, i'm all caught up now.  I had dinner while I read.  I'm sick of waiting for DH to get home.  Sometimes it's 8 or 9 before we eat.

CathyI was a Supervisor at a mutual fund accounting and custody firm.  Yawn.  We calculate the Net Asset Value for funds on a daily basis.  I HATE it.  Since we are tied to the stock markets 4-6pm is our busiest time.  I must get something new because it will be very hard to get home for daycare.

Micky Love the pic if I didn't already mention it.  I also pictured you differently.  Light brown hair for some reason...

Ankie Hang in there girl.  Have you considered there might be something else going on?  Have you had her ears checked or anything like that???  Maybe something worth considering.

Kate What are you lubing him up with if not baby lotion?

Andrea Yo girl.  When did you become Super Mod.  I didn't even notice until someone else mentioned it!  As for babies sleeping past 7:30 am that just made me LOL.

Hannah- I use the same stuff I used to to clean.  I try to use them less frequently and open windows and stuff when I do.  Since I've been FLYing things don't get as grimey so a thorough clean isn't needed as often.  My kitchen is shining!  Now, as for the cleanliness of Cole.  Hmmmm.  Do i want to admit that when he was teeney tiny I would roll up a tissue and stick it up his nose to get the snot out.  Snot bugs me.  I try as hard as I can to leave it alone but it's hard.  I think I need therapy for it in fact.  As for his clothes.  DH often laughs at me because Cole might be in the same stained outfit for two days if it's not bath day.  It's such a struggle to dress him that I just can't be bothered.  We went to the mall in his pyjamas today.  Who cares anyway?  Now, while feeding I also wipe in between bites like Jody    I just can't stand the thought of food getting all over the place.  Yes, I know this is something I have to get over for when he starts feeding himself.

Lisa- It's good that you leave James in the crib until 5:30.  Try not to start his day too early or it might just get earlier and earlier.  Did his bedtime change?  Cole wakes at 5 when he's overtired/went to bed late.  Maybe it's because he just started cruising??  LOL at the pic by the way.  I took one of Cole today because I did let him take the spoon and he ended up with squash all over himself.

Jody- Not really buying Cole much.  Probably just one item and we don't even know what it is yet.  He is the first grandson on DHs side and MIL buys US way too much stuff.  I can't imagine how much she'll get Cole.  We've asked for Leap Frog Phonics Bus and the Phonics Fridge Magnet.  I think I'm going to ask for a good Potty too.  Maybe baby bjorn?  I want to start Cole a la BWSAYP at 9 months.  Also, Baby Bjorn makes a cool bowl which is Clover shaped.  It's supposed to be easy for los to feed themselves with it...so I may ask for that.  Bowl and spoon are something like $30    Like you said, they don't know it's christmas so I'm just trying to think of practical things that I'll need in the near future.

phew.  I think that's all.  Not sure I'll be at chat.  I'm pretty pooped and I'm going to try to make felt baby booties for my girlfriends shower this weekend.  Found them in an old issue of Martha Stewart baby.  I'll post a pic if they turn out.

OK Traci totally laughing my head off at what you said about Cole and cleanliness...I think I need therapy for the booger/snot thing too....I  often wonder if that's why she hates it soo much because she has traumatic memories of mom "going in deep" with the sucker thingy to get the boogies out.

Love the part about the clothes too...lol!!!!

Took Sophie to the mall today with carrot leftovers on her nostrils (she's a very messy eater...and if I tried to wipe as we go I'm afraid I'd put her off solids for good :? ) and the usual boogers in her nose.  She still got lots of smiles etc. from the older lady shoppers

I might chat tonight/might TRY not to.  Dh needs a little attention.  So I'm gonna cook dinner etc.  Hopefully I can sneak on for a minute at least.
Have fun!
Hannah

Whew .. what a day!  At last I have some mommy computer time as DH is doing bath and bottle.  That leaves me about 10 mins until bf time!!

It was sooo cold here today and we had snow!!  I was very excited, love the snow!

Kate:  Carter has eczema on his forearms and one spot on his cheek due to his egg/milk allergies.  My Dr said the same thing as yours, I think his exact words were "lube him up like a turkey"!!  I mainly use Lubriderm in addition to his baby lotion.  The Dr also gave me a presc for a steroid cream that works wonderfully to take the itch away.  I try to use it as little as possible though.

Hannah:  Due to Carter's cold (that has been here for 2 weeks and counting) every time he sees a kleenex he has a meltdown!!  Poor baby!  DH is crazy about wiping Carter's nose.  He also wipes Carter's face repeatedly throughout meals.  I usually give him a good wipe at the end of the meal, which he hates.  Funny thing is he doesn't mind having his face washed in the tub??!!

Richelle:  Whereabouts in Canada are you going? Is that where your family lives?  How long of a flight will it be?  I hope you have a good flight.  Actually I will be in Toronto that weekend too (we are heading home to visit the family as well, I lived my whole life in Orangeville until 2 years ago... if anyone knows where that is)

Jod:  We aren't going crazy for Xmas either.  Carter has a lot of aunts and uncles that will most likely spoil him anyway.  We will give him some clothes, but he needs those regardless.  He could use some new toys, we never really bought him any to begin with.  I might just make the milk jug/macaroni thing though ... I think he will love it.

Lisa:  Great picture of James!!!  He looks to be enjoying himself immensely!!

I can't believe how many of these Mar/Apr babies are crawling/cruising etc!  Carter barely even rolls over!!!     He will push himself backwards on his belly and yesterday he grabbed DH's shirt and just pulled himself up.  We were shocked.  He really likes to stand.  And, of course the only jibbering that comes out of his mouth these days is Ah vvvouuu DaDaDa Da which to DH sounds exactly like "I love you Da Da"  Ya RIGHT!! Give me a break!!

We just found out that a close friend of ours is preggo again.  Her DD is 9 months old.  I knew they had been trying since DD was 4 months old      We had been pregnant together so DH assumes that we are going to be pregnant again together.  He wants them close in age and I do as well but realistically I couldn't handle it.  I had a really hard time with Carter and his newborn sleeping habits (and he was even sleeping 8 hours a night by 6 weeks of age).  Is anyone else TTC yet?  I know a few of you mentioned you were.  I would love to (I love being pregnant) but I don't know if I could handle two!  My job isn't very pregnant-friendly either with all of the x-rays, anaesthetics, heavy lifting/dog wrestling etc.
What do you all think is the ideal age between lo's?  My Dr said to not even start trying until lo #1 was 1 yr.  I have another friend who gave birth to #2, 3 weeks before #1 turned 1    AND her DH has never changed a diaper, given a bottle or done a night waking AND  lo #1 still gets up TWICE a night!!!  Poor girl!  I convinced her to buy the BW books and even lent her the video but she hasn't watched/read them ...

Anyway, my mommy time is up.  Sorry for the long, jumbled post!

Hope everyone has a great night!

I would love to write a childrens books for twins- Judy what do you think?

I think it's a great idea.  My girlfriend and I have talked about writing a book together for hmmm, 3yrs now   just haven't found the time somehow.

As for a book on twins - there really isn't a whole lot out there - so - go for it :)

Judy, did you ever figure out what the problem with Hannah (or was it Kaia) and her pooping?

No - it only happened those two times?  I wondered if it was the well water as she may get some in her mouth during bath - but if that were the case I don't think it would have just gone away.  In any case dh is going to put in a system so we don't have to worry about the water anymore - it's not fit for drinking and I'm getting tired of harping on Z&S not to drink the bath water.  They do it simply because I tell them not too.    In fact right now  Sarah is busy rubbing her hands all over the toilet as she sits on it - just because dh keeps telling her she shouldn't because it's dirty.

My other thought was that I'd given her a homeopathic remedy earlier that day - doesn't make sense really but the remedy was human milk and I wondered if maybe she had/has a slight intolerance to milk protien and that remedy put her over the edge.  I mentioned it to the homeopath and he was pretty emphatic that there was no relation.  I skipped all dairy for a week or so and didn't see any difference so...

Just glad it's gone away. :)

As for the eczema (how DO you spell that?) thanks for the tip on baby lotion.  Hannah has it a bit on her back - or just dry skin? especially after a bath.  I remember Sarah had it for the longest time too.

Sleep - last night was awesome.  They woke for a bit at 4am - talked to each other and then went back to sleep.  It was SO windy here though and their window isn't sealed so good so it HOWLED all night.  I'm actually surprised they went back to sleep.  It had woken me earlier in the night and I had a hard time going back to sleep.  In fact I got up to check the internet for tornado warnings.  We live in the country with no real shelter around so the wind is really strong here.  DH didn't sleep much either worrying about it too.

Cathy:  Ideal age between children?  Hmmm - Zoe and Sarah are 16months apart which was tough at first but would be so manageable now if I just had them.  I love that all our girls are so close - I think it will make family activities great.. but I also think that twins 19months after that was a bit much.  It's just a tad too hectic right now and I'm being more crabby than I'd like these days - ok that sounds silly because I like to not be crabby at all - so I guess that means I'm a 100% crabbier than I'd like :)

Off to see what Martha Stewart has to say.  Sarah's still holding the toilet hostage claiming to have to poop - she's been on there 15min at least now.  Dh just got out of the shower to find her still sitting there.  The minute you touch her to move her along she SCREAMS!! :)  I'm going to try to sneak past them down the hall and crawl in to bed with my hot tea and watch tv! :)

Hi All

Well we didn't do very well on naps here today. We had two 45 min naps and a 35 minute nap.  I was planning on putting Brady to be by 7pm tonight, but at 6:30 while he was having his bottle, he fell asleep half way through....bad I know, I tried to wake him...and suceeded only to have a very cranky angry baby, who didn't want the rest of his milk. Sooo, we were off to bed, and yet again he only slept for 45 minutes. Then 20 minutes of trying to shush/rub him etc...and finally back to sleep. Now has been asleep for 30 minutes and hoping he'll make it past 45, keeping my fingers crossed....

Ankie, so sorry to hear about your nite, hope tonite is better for you hon.

As for feeding and cleaning Brady's face...I wipe between spoonfuls, so does dh....but cleaning his face is a HUGE chore, you'd think we had committed the ultimate sin....the looks and crys we get for trying to clean his face....

Traci...we eat at the same time here at nites as you do....LATE :x

Going to have to check out this milf.com... :?  :?:
