How to deal with night wakings due to turning over
« on: October 16, 2005, 18:32:55 pm »
My DS still wakes once in the night for food but since learning how to roll over it can be anything from 2 to 5 - once hes awake its then very hard to settle.  I bought a bumper of sorts, you lay them inbetween these two foam rolls but as he shifts about allot he works himself free and turns over - sometimes hes still asleep when he does this but coz he cant turn back he soon wakes up and crys out for help.
Any advice?

How old is DS?

When dd started rolling in her crib, instead of trying to keep her on her back by rolling her back or using bumpers, we comforted her when she rolled.  That way, she wouldn't be afraid of the tummy sleeping...since we figured it would have to happen eventually.   We did pat/shh when she rolled over and pu/pd if necessary.  But every time she woke crying we just shh'd her back to sleep on her tummy.  And we may be lucky, but it only took one night and about 3-4 wakes for it to be done.

Good luck!
