Problem with Pigeon Peristaltic nipple
« on: October 16, 2005, 10:37:14 am »
I have been having a weird problem with the Pigeon peristaltic nipples going flat when my 10 month old daughter sucks! It's only just started happening in the last 3 or 4 weeks. I am using the Y cut nipple so theoretically it shouldn't be a flow problem ':?'. I tried loosening the collar a bit which helps but the nipple ends up coming out of the collar. I even bought a new nipple to see if it was a wear and tear issue but that one does it too. Anyone know what's going on?

Problem with Pigeon Peristaltic nipple

Just thought I would post my findings on this subject in case anyone has the same problem.

Turns out the self proclaimed "Pigeon Expert" at the chemist where I bought the new nipple was totally wrong. The Y cut nipple isn't fast enough if it is going flat and restircting flow and my daughter actually needs the Oral Development Nipple. But of course, no one has it in stock and it has to be ordered ''. Time to try the Avent nipple again I think!

hi - i use the Pigeon regular teats (did for both girls_) and have been told by a speech pathologist that they really are the best for baby...

do you have Babies Galore in WA?? they always have Pigeon teats in stock.  SP said Avent were the worst for most babies and is amazed at how many people persevere with them in spite of problems.

maybe ring around - some supermarkets also carry Pigeon brand.

Thanks Debra. I had heard that about the Avent nipples but I wasn't sure if it was bogus or not. I guess that's why my daughter's paediatrician won't let you use anything else other than the peristaltic nipple while in hospital. Anyway, she won't take the Avent one '' so I will have to order the Pigeon one (my fingers are sick of doing the walking!). It's not peristaltic but the real Pigeon expert said it has the same properties. Let's hope so!
