Night wakings due to teething - what to do
« on: October 19, 2005, 18:50:38 pm »
Hi,

My 8-month-old dd has been waking the past 2 nights several times crying - we're pretty sure it's because her top 2 front teeth are popping through. My husband and I have been been taking turns going to her room to comfort her, but when we leave, she starts crying again even worse and hysterically. Last night, because of this, I tried rocking her to sleep in the rocking chair with the lights very low, but she didn't fall asleep. I then put her in her crib and put a music CD on low and just stood by her crib til she fell asleep.

Does anyone have any advice on what else we can do to soothe her and get her to go back to sleep on her own? I need to get some sleep!!

Thanks...
Melanie

Have you tried any pain relievers.Over here we have calpol or ibruprofen which also helps them to sleep.
Also we have ANBESOL teething liquid with anaestetic which numbs the pain.If you have something similar it may help.

Sometimes only a couple of nights meds seem to get them back into that routine and helps with the pain.

Hi,

Thanks for replying. Yes, we've been giving her ibuprofen, and we put orajel on her gums when she wakes up. She seems to be in a better mood today, so I'm hoping that extends into tonight  :).

Wish me luck!
