When to feed?
« on: October 20, 2005, 06:47:24 am »
Hi,

I was wondering if you could help me, my ds is 9 1/2 months, his day starts about 7am. I usually give him a bottle and his breakfast, but reading other people's posts should i be giving him just a bottle then he has his nap then when he wakes up give him breakfast about 9. But then when do i give him his bottle again would it be 10am and then lunch at 12. if so do i offer more milk with his food cause he's not a big fan of water.

Oh it's so confussing.

Hope you can help

Sharon

He goes back down about an hour or just over for his nap, i tried it the other way this morning, i just gave his bottle at 7.15 and when he went for his nap he slept for 2 hours, so when he woke i had to give a bottle and his breakfast together anyway. So that didn't work.

was there a problem with the way you were doing it?  i think most people do milk and breakfast in whatever order works for them and then nap later on (not milk, nap, breakfast)

No not really but if he see's the bowl with his solids in it he doesn't drink all his milk and books and stuff say he's meant to have about a pint a day but i don't think he's having that. I suppose i could hide the solids until he had his milk.

I just wondered what other mothers done.

if you give him cereal with milk/formula in it that amount is counted as well, plus cheese, yogurt, custard, etc so if you add it all up an offer him some extra milk with his meals like you mentioned will that be enough milk?? it does add up.

you can grate cheese for him to try and also make pasta dishes soon enough and melt cheese into the sauce...
