7.5 Months - Now What?
« on: October 24, 2005, 03:21:12 am »
My DD is 7.5 months and she's been eating solids since 5.5 months.  Current schedule:

7:00 AM Breastfed
8:00 or 8:30 cereal with fruit (though she rarely eats much)
11:00 Breastfed and veggies
3:00 Breastfed
5:00 Breastfed (a cluster feed to compensate for dropping dream feed)
6:30 or 7:00 Breastfed and cereal with fruit and veggies

What's next? Finger foods at around 8 months? When do I drop another breastfeed?  How do I get her "lunch" and "dinner meals to be closer to to actual lunch and dinner times?

Thanks!

My son is 8 months old, and our schedule is:

7am BF
8am Breakfast (cereal and fruit)
10am BF (used to be 11am but he didnt eat at lunch)
12noon lunch (fruit, or egg or whatever)
3/4pm BF (juice or water before then)
6pm Supper
7pm BF

I don't bf and give solids at the same time. And in the long stretch from lunch till the next bf, I offer juice or water or a snack of toast or something.

You can begin with fingerfoods now too.

My daughter is 6.5 months and our schedule is:

8am BF
9am cereal and fruit
12pm BF
1pm meat and veggies
4pm BF or bottle
5pm meat and veggies
8pm BF

She won't eat the meat alone so I have to pair it with the veggies.  We are still on the single flavor stage 2 foods.  Should I worry about having her try all of the stage 2 foods available before moving to stage 3?  I tend to give her only those foods that I would eat.

Mine is six and half months old;
8- Breakfast- cereal, fruit and 7oz of milk
9:30- Milk ( around 3oz)
12- Lunch (Protein) In response ofcourse you mix it with veg, no baby would eat meat on its own
1:30- Milk (3-4oz)
4- Tea ( veg and carbs, fruit)
5:30- Snack ( youghurt, milk.......)
7- Bedtime bottle (8oz)

As for the questions; yes I would def. start introducing finger foods around now and if you want to drop a feed it tend to be the lunchtime BF as they tend to loose interest in that first, judge on your own baby.
With the stage 2 foods, there is now reason you have to introduce all the veg if you do not want to before moving onto to stage threee, I never wanted to limit her coices though; everyones tastes are different and Gigi really enjoys food I hate e.g papaya, you would never know this if you only stick to food you like.
