How long can we go without the nap?!?

For the past week and a half my girls have not napped.  My 22mo is on the "I don't need a nap" kick.  I put her down, she tells me "night-night," and starts playing as soon as the door is shut.  She only stays in there because it has a child lock on the doorknob.

I think my 3-1/2 yo would sleep if it were quiet in the room next door, but Shelby is in there screaming because she's through playing and she's bored.

But... for Grandma or my husband they smile, roll over, and go to sleep for two hours.   :x  I have had it with two tired, whiny kids.  Early bedtime works great, but the next day we go through it all over again.  Someone tell me it will get better.   :shock:

Actually I'm having the same problem with Emily.The last 2 days I have resorted to taking her out in the car then putting her to bed for a couple of hours.If she doesn't get her nap then she will not sleep at night and is up for about 4 hours.

i did get my trusty BW book out again and I know the only thing to do is to stay with her until she sleeps,which in Emily's case could be an hour or more,she doesn't play in the cot though,she screams whether I'm there or not.
The only other problem is Jessica.If she's at school it's not too bad,but then when Emily finally gets to sleep,I have to wake her to collect Jess,if it's weekend or school holiday (like now) Jessica keeps coming upstairs all the time.

I will keep reading to see if there's anything else I can do and will watch this post.If you come up with any other ideas will you let me know? and vise versa.
