A change in eating habits
« on: October 25, 2005, 19:51:04 pm »
Hi,  At about 3 1/2 months my daughter put herself on a 4hour feeding schedule. She would take between 5 and 6 ozs. per feeding for a total of 34-36 ounces pre day. At her 4months check up the doctor told us to start introducing cereals. She took the cereal fine for a few days but has refused it ever since. I figure that is fine. Perhaps she just is not ready to eat solids. The problem is now she wants a bottle ever 2 1/2 to 3 hours all day and night. She will take between 3 and 4 ozs until about 4pm than she will take a 6 oz bottles. Over a 24 hour period, she is getting around 30 ounces. I have tried stretching out the time between feedings, and tried feeding her more per feeding with no success. She is teething... Could that be the reason?

I am fairly new to the BW rountine, but the routine we were following was very similiar, minus the sleeping through the night. Could tweaking with her daily routine be causing this? Or is it normal for a baby's feeding routine to shift at about 4 1/2 months?

Than you,

Cheryl

How's it going cheryl?  It is normal for babies to shift their routine...but they usually space their feedings out, not get closer???  Growth spurt maybe?  Teething can throw a wrench in things. Zoe didn't take anybottles except her 6:30pn one for a couple days once

As far as the cereal, if she is refusing it I would take a break for a couple of weeks and try introducing it again then.
