Green expressed milk
« on: October 26, 2005, 15:31:21 pm »
Has anyone's breast milk ever been green?  I know that skim milk can have a greenish hue but my milk seems to be more green than that!  And trust me, if anything I eat too much fat so she should be getting lots of fat in the milk.  It's not old and rotting because it looks that way as soon as it is pumped.  Anybody have any ideas?

Tracey,
I read online that it shouldn't be a concern. Do you eat or drink anything green?

I had that happen and my lacation lady said that it could be from my vitamins.   I took two a day and one of them was green.  I had just taken it an hour before I pumped.  She said it was perfectly fine to give to ds.

I was hoping it was fine because if it pumps that colour I'm sure it's going straight from the breast into her mouth that colour! :D   I can't think of anything particularily green that I consume but if it's not a worry than I just won't!  Thanks!

I made a green minestrone soup a few months ago (green beans, spinach, celery, zucchini...) and my milk had a green tint to it too! Maybe you ate something green?

Hi

I've seen pale blue and green milk as well as some that looks so watery that it looks almost like water!  All were FINE!

I've always wondered what it makes it slightly blue.  Does anyone know that answer?

I've wondered the same thing about slightly blue milk... I've just noticed mine that color twice after pumping, but who knows how often it's blue when she nurses!  I have no idea why it would be that color!
