night feedings
« on: October 26, 2005, 17:25:26 pm »
My DS is 12 weeks and is currently going down very well at night.  However, there is absolutely no pattern to when he wakes for his feedings.  Sometimes he'll go 6-7 hours, sometimes only 4-5.  It's hard to plan for when he might wake.  Is this normal at this age?
Thanks!

night feedings

Hi there,

Erratic night wakings are a classic sign of hunger - and he has probably just hit on the three month growth spurt so will be looking for more calories - If possible try to 'tank him up' during the day and perhaps implement a dreamfeed to really get some more calories into him so that him (and you!) can sleep longer at night!

Hope that helps

Dee

Thanks!
So what is considered average for sleeping in one block of time for a 12-week old?  I don't want to expect too much, but I don't want to get him up unneccessarily.  My DD slept through very young, so I've never been through this!
