Still ssh patting too ...
« on: October 27, 2005, 00:20:59 am »
Reading your message made me wonder too. I've been ssh/patting my 12 week old literally since birth, and I too still have to do  it for every sleep.  He has just started to do the 45 min nap thing, so after the initial 20 min, I have to go back in 25 min later to start again!  He is now sleeping through the night though, so I'm counting my blessings, but I would love to just be able to put him in his cot and let him fall asleep.

Hopefully there is hope, and things will get better.  I wish you the best of luck!

How many naps total in a day?

How is nighttime sleep?

Use a pacifier?

Hi Laura,

He has 3 naps per day, plus a night time cat nap.  He is sleeping from about 730pm - about 6am.  I use a dummy which is becoming an issue as he doesn't seem to be able to settle himself.  I have just posted another message in this section with a bit more info.  Let me know if you need anything more.  Your advice will be really appreciated.

Sounds like things are going quite well with the nighttime sleep.  Pacifier's likely the culprit.  How a baby falls asleep will often dictate how they stay asleep.  Have you tried pat/shh without the pacifier?  My son started getting hooked so I ditched it.  It meant more work with the pat/shh, but he found his thumb around 17 weeks and it was wonderful!!
