Afternoon without naps:help!
« on: October 27, 2005, 02:31:39 am »
My 5.5 month old has been refusing to take a nap at all after her first 2 naps. Her first nap will be within 2 hours after wake time and last mostly 45 minutes, but sometimes 1-1.5 hours. Her next nap will be within 2 hours after waking up from her first nap and she will only sleep for 45 minutes. She mostly wakes up before 1 pm in the afternoon and has been refusing any naps after that for a couple of days now. I've been trying pu/pd, but I can't do it anymore. When we go for our afternoon walk, she'll sometimes sleep in the stroller for a little bit. On rainy days though; no walk - no nap.
I believe she is too young to already be okay with 2 naps (she was 4 weeks early) plus, she is very cranky in the afternoon!
She sleeps great at night and falls asleep on her own with her first 2 naps. What to do? I keep asking myself wether I am not reading her cues right - they've changed (no yawning or rubbing eyes anymore.) But I think I am - she rubs her face on my chest.
Please help!
Ankie

Have you tried Wake to Sleep method?  Do you have Tracy's latest book?

Yes, I have Tracy's latest book.
I have tried the wake to sleep a couple of times. But my baby would just open up her eyes and she would start crying, playing and then crying again.

How about even getting her into bed in the afternoon? Any suggestions on how to handle her fight to go to bed at that time?
