Is 40 min enough for a morning nap?
« on: October 27, 2005, 12:08:24 pm »
Well at last I sorted out my password and dont have to disturb MatthewsMummy with my emails :) Anyway my LO who is 5 1/2 months today, had suffered from usual 40 min short naps for such a long time. After trying to extend her afternoon naps to 1.5-2 hrs she still suffers from 40 min nap trouble in her morning nap. She usually wakes up happy from her morning nap and maybe that's why I have been unable to insist to extend  her morning nap. However when it comes to lunch time she screams to whole place down and I think it is because of tiredness. She is usually OK for other mealtimes. Below is a typical day
7-7.30 Wake up, Breastfeed
8.00 Breakfast
9-9.40  or 9.30-10.10 1 nap
11.30-12.00 Lunch (This is the time she is almost crying for her second nap)
12.00- or 12.15 2nd nap 1.5-2 hrs. Usually I have to help herr to o back after 30 or 40 min
3.00 Snack
4.00 3rd nap (30 min)
6.30-7.00 Tea
7.30-8.00 Bedtime

Is there anything I need to adjust/change. It was pretty hard to extend her lunch naps however it was worthwhile. If I have to change her morning nap as well I'll do my best.

Many thanks in advance

Hi There,
My dd always did a short 45 minute nap in the morning and eventually extended her lunch nap to about 2 hours, she dropped the catnap in the afternoon about 5 months.

Hi Osen, I found that when Molly dropped her evening catnap (only about 2 weeks ago) after a few days she lengthened her morning naps.
She still sometimes does the 45 minutes but will do 1.25 or 1.5 hours.
I find as well that she wakes up happy after 45 minutes so I don't worry too much, just let her have that short nap. Then I try to lengthen her activity time so that her 4 hour EASY is not totally off track.
