4 hour+ EASY when start solids?
« on: October 31, 2005, 01:54:19 am »
Hello--

I just read somewhere in the napping thread that when a baby starts solids, they have a bottle first thing in the AM and then solids an hour later....is this true?  If so, how does this affect the rest of the day/mealtimes?  could someone post an example of a schedule for 5 month baby starting solids?  Is this somewhere in Tracy's book??

Thanks for any help!

There are lots of different ways to intro solids...the most common is what you described, bottle first thing in the AM then solids about 1 hr later. This is the method Tracy recommends, as it ensures your LO fills up on bottle/breast and gives you the whole day to watch for reactions to new foods. There are different methods, like giving them one after the other or solids first then bottle 1 hr later.

As for a sample schedule, your best bet is to check around in the EASY forum. I don't know if Tracy gives a sample routine in her first book, but in The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems, she doesn't give a sample solids routine until 6-9 mo because she doesn't typically advise giving solids before 6 mo. Hope that answers your question!
