Sleeping through - feeding amounts
« on: October 31, 2005, 17:30:05 pm »
Hello there.

We're nearly there...

My son is nine weeks old, and we think he could sleep through if he didn;t get hungry in the night. He goes to bed about 7ish (although daylight saving time has just knackered that!), dream feeds (6oz) at about half ten.

Then, he wakes up hungry at about 4am for another dreamfeed (usually restricted to a couple of ounces so he'll wake up properly at 7am.)

My question is: would giving him a heavier feed at 11pm keep him down for longer? He's currently on Aptamil no.2 (from birth for hungrier babies they say.)

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I'd try adding a bit more to each of the day time bottles, but if he is taking a full feed (stops when he is finished. even if the bottle isn't) at each of them, he probably isn't ready to go the full 11-7am stretch... nine weeks is still fairly young & doing 5 hours is considered sleeping through at that age (when they skip a feed on a 3hour feeing routine).
