One Way Roller - is this normal??
« on: November 01, 2005, 14:21:31 pm »
Hi all. Not sure where else to post this but figure it ties in to Molly's million times a night wakings so here goes.
She started rolling over about a month ago, around 5 months old, but will still only roll from back to front! I want to start to wean her off the swaddle because we are up a few times a night rebinding her anyways, but when she gets out, she rolls to her front and can't get back over. She then screams her fool head off until we come and turn her over again!
I give her tons of practice time during the day, assisting her with rolling or just putting a toy out of reach but she won't bother to even try to roll from front to back.
Is this "normal" or should I have it checked out? Has anyone had success taking their LO to a chiropractor for this sort of thing?
Help?!

Don't know if it is normal, but Caeden only rolls back to front as well and shows no interest in trying the other direction. He loves to roll, but doesn't like being on his tummy long so you would think he would try to get back over!

Someone told my mom that "he couldn't be rolling front to back yet cause he wasn't sitting up and they can't do that till then" - she kindly informed her that he was doing it and though they typically roll front to back first he did the opposite. We think it may have something to do with babies being more on their backs now and it was more tummies when we were all little.

I am not too worried personally - he seems happy and fine and I figure he will move when he wants to! He has good head control and is working on sitting too.

olivia started rolling front to back at 7 weeks but not front to back until 7 months.  i was constantly reassured by midwives that she would do it in time and they were right... not sure why it was so hard for her - she tried for months and would only get half way and give up....

for front to back rolling tummy time is your best bet as they need to build up those muscles top push up and over..
