How to do EASY / Growth spurts....sorry it's a bit long!!
« on: November 01, 2005, 15:22:06 pm »
Don't know if anyone can help, but 13 week Immy usually has naps of one hour then sleeps for an hour then naps for an hour then sleeps for an hour.

At night she was sleeping from 7.30 - 4.30/5am then feed then sleeping til 7/8am.

The last few nights she has been waking first at 3am, then 1.30 then last night at 12.30. Also during the day she seems to be napping for approx 50 mins & only staying awake for 40 /45 mins before getting tired.

I have tried not to make her overtired or tire too quickly, by calming down playtime & having a realax time before naps.

Does this sound like a growth spurt or a problem with sleeping?

Also....I keep reading about the 3/4 hour easy...is this possible to do when baby can only stay awake for an hour at a time...or am I better to be patient until she can stay awake longer?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

er yep sorry!!

guess that's what motherhood is doing to my brain!!!

What I mean is that she is awake for an hour then naps for an hour, then awake, then naps!!

hi,

your lo is likely still too small for a 4-hour EASY, but i think you can start to play with her awake times a bit.

maybe instead of an hour, try extending her for an hour & fifteen minutes for a few days.  then try adding a little more.  it kinda sounds like your in a bit of a cycle - she's only awake for a little while, so she's only a little tired, so she only sleeps for a little while - and so on.

that 3-5 month age range is a delicate line between A time and overtired, but it is when things really start to extend.

good luck!  :D

Great....I will try to extend the play time, was thinking of doing that but was worried about over tiring her.

More LO time for me then!!!
