short naps but sleeping 12 hours a night
« on: November 04, 2005, 17:06:31 pm »
my 5 month old takes 3 naps usually 45 min each. some are 30 min but that just started lately. she goes to sleep at 6-6:30 pm and sleeps until 6 ish am. does she take short naps because she sleeps so much at night? I tried the wake to sleep method and it dod not do much for her. she is in good spirits all day long. will her naps lengthen as she gets older? and should I lengthen her wake time. she is up for 2 housr then takes a nap except for evenigh up for longer. thanks for your help

Somewhere around six months babies transition to two naps.  Perhaps wait until then and slowly lengthen her awake time.  See if the transition to two naps helps her to consolidate daytime sleep and gets her past the 45 minute naps.

In the past have you ever had luck in getting her back to sleep?  Is she tired when she wakes?  Cranky?  Or does she wake happy?

At 5mos, 2.25hr was the magic A time for us...2hr was just not enough to stop the 45min nap monster.
