Starting to Wean

Hi All,

I am wanting to start to wean my lo next week and wondered how one would go about it, what foods to give, when to give it and how to fit it into our schedule.

Our feeding schedule is as follows:-

7am - 8oz bottle
11am - 8oz bottle
3pm - 8oz bottle
7pm - 9oz bottle

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

I have given my lo a few teaspoons of baby rice occassionally, but he has been very constipated what with the change over from his 1st stage milk to his 2nd stage, so don't want to give the rice to him to aggrivate this.  I have since switched back to the 1st stage formula on my HV's advice.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Paula

Hello.  With Lindsey I started with pears since I did not want the rice cereal to get her constipated.  I gave her a couple teaspoons to start with twice a day.  About an hour after her am breastfeed and about an hour after her afternoon breastfeed.  So looking at your schedule you could offer solids at 8 am and 4 pm if these times do not interfere with your lo sleeping.  After a few days I started ading some rice cereal to the pears.
