Always Falls Asleep
« on: November 06, 2005, 05:02:35 am »
I can get her thru a full feed - I guess, approx 10-20 minutes, and she passes out in between and I wake her up "walk the plank" up and down her back or rub her palms, but she always falls asleep.  I can even try to burp her but she'll be fast out and I can't get a burp out of her!  Then she gets gassy later in the day and cries - otherwise she doesn't make much noise...

Any suggestions?  What do I do?

So the problem is getting a good burp in, right?  I found it really helped to do a little jiggle on my lap first, then pat the back firmly.  The jiggle is almost like you're playing horsey but really small movements, supporting the head.  Gets the bubbles moving up and then they're easier to pat out, even if baby is asleep.  But are you also feeling that she's not eating enough per feed?  I honestly had to get out a cold washcloth with Megan... Are you also making sure you're both as stripped down as you can be for the feed?
