Why does he keep waking up?!

He's one month old and I started "shh/pat" today. Worked great in the morning, and since then he's been waking up every time I put him down, after 5-15 minutes. I've spent the day putting him to sleep, and he's woken up within a few minutes almost every time. He's been tired all day! (good sleeping leads to more good sleep, and the opposite.) what am I doing wrong? HELP!

you're probably not doing much of anything wrong - it just takes awhile for them to learn it!!!

what happens is that you have helped him into deep sleep, and then 15-20 minutes later he is in light sleep & doesn't know how to go back down again.

The sleep interview tips really helped me.  Hang in there, it eventually works.  After a few weeks of consistency (and many hours by his crib), my little one eventually got the hang of it.
