What is an adequate time for a nap?
« on: November 08, 2005, 22:26:27 pm »
Just wondering what amount of time is an adequate nap? Eg is 1 hour enough and then they can get up or should we be aiming for 1.5-2 hour naps.

I have read the BW books but i don't think I have come across the minimum nap time.

My DD is 5 months old.

I think it depends on your LO, so...
-what is his mood when he wakes?  Happy not crying
-can he make it easily to the next nap w/o much fuss?

We never got 2hr naps after 3mos...okay maybe a few days.  Most were 1 to 1.5hrs.

How is your LO after napping?

My DD was napping 1 x 2.5 hr, 1 x 2 hr and then about an hour catnap in the late afternoon.

However this week she is waking at around 1 - 1.5 hrs. Just a total change. Her morning awake time is still only about 1.5 hr, middle of the day is 2 hrs, then about 1.5-2 hrs, then usually 1.5hr before bed.

I think I may need to increase the morning awake time but it is so hard - she is so grumpy in the morning.

I agree increase A time at her age she should be able to do approx 2hr-2.5 A time.  The morning one is usually shorter then the rest of the day.

Try 15min and see if that helps.
