7th Month Old Won't Drink More than 20 oz formula
« on: November 09, 2005, 18:39:25 pm »
My 7th month old simply refuses to drink more than 4.5 or 5 oz. of formula at each feeding and consumes only about 20 oz of formula during the daytime hours. She is on solids twice a day (morning and afternoon).

Schedule:
7 a.m.    4-5 oz formula
11 a.m.  2 oz formula with 4 T dry cereal & 1/2 large jar fruit
3 p.m.    4-5 oz formula
5:00       2 oz formula with 4 T dry cereal & 1/2 large jar veggie
7:30       4-5 oz formula
1-2 a.m.!!  4-5 oz formula

My problem is that she is waking in the middle of the night for a feed and appears hungry.  If I can't get her to consume more during the day, how can I get her to stop waking in the middle of night hungry?

Maybe try adding to the solids?  Does she wake the same time everynight?  If so, it could just be out of habit... :D

Hi There,
My dd was the same and gave up bottles completely at about 6.5 months. I too would say try adding more solids, I did a small breakfast of cereal with milk, lunch about 12.30 of veg, tiny snack at 3-3.30pm and tea which at that age was cereal with milk or rusks with milk at 6pm, this way I made sure she got her milk intake and food intake at night before bed, bed time was 7.30pm,

Agree with all the above posts; the minimum your baby should be taking at this age is 16oz as long as he is getting the solids.
