LO wakes during DF - is this creating a problem?
« on: November 09, 2005, 19:46:17 pm »
When I give my 3.5 mo old boy his DF at 11pm, he invariably wakes up during it.  He goes back to sleep afterwards but am I steering him into a habitual waking scenario??  I know Tracy says it's very important that they stay sleeping during the feed.  I'm just not entirely sure why that is.  And if it IS super important, what should I do?

Thanks!

Sarah

Does he wake completely up?  Sometimes my kiddos would "sort of" wake up, which if that was the case I would continue the DF if it is working.  Otherwise, you might try skipping it a couple of nights and see what happens  :D

Hi Noelle,

Thanks for the reply!  He wakes up completely...grinning at me, etc.  What do you think?

My son has his dream feed at 10:00.  I always end up having to change a diaper at this time too, so he is always awake for his df.  I keep all the lights off and try not to speak to him durring his changing.  As soon as we settle into the rocker for the bottle he goes right to sleep and takes about six ounces.  I think as long as you try to keep him asleep as much as you can you should have some luck!

If he is waking up completely, I understand your worry about creating a habit.  And I tend to agree.  Could you maybe try the DF at 10?  Maybe he'll be in a deeper sleep?  Otherwise, i would be tempted to not wake him and see what happens  :D
