He thinks his bed is the one with the parents
« on: November 10, 2005, 19:13:08 pm »
Ok I hold my hands up!

Heres my list of sins................

Sean is 14 months and good as gold all day. ( Eats loads, naps on time )

To get him to sleep at night  I lie down on my bed and give him a bottle.

I then place him sleeping in his cot ( next to my bed)

When he first wakes (early hours ) I comfort him in my bed then place him back in his cot asleep.

He will then wake again just before dawn and I repeat this only I fall asleep and we all wake together in the morning in the same bed.

Sean is due to get his own room in January and I feel this would be a good time to get him to settle himself to sleep in his own bed and hopefully sleep through.  Having being such a soft touch I dont know where to start so as not to cause him any distress.

Heres my questions....................

Do I do PU/PD at bed time and when he wakes or is he too old?( hes 28llbs so could be a problem)

Why is he waking at least twice a night? ( I stopped breast feeding 2 months ago and cannot use that excuse any more)

I would really appreciate any advice. I know I have been accidental parenting but I want to make amends without cause too much trauma!

hi there,

i'm going to pop your message over to the Toddler sleep boards; you will likely get much better advice there!   :D
