Changing bedtime routine caused confusion
« on: November 11, 2005, 12:27:01 pm »
I had my 4 month old daughter on a routine of EASY until bedtime and then I would nurse her into a light sleep.  I don't know what I was thinking but I tried to adjust that so that she would be on a fixed EASY routine but now she is waking up at 5:30.  If I put her back to sleep she wakes up at 7 and It throws her off her routine all day, so that she is ESA. I am not sure how to fix this. Her old routine was  never consistent but she always went to sleep about 7 pm give or take an hour. She would usually wake about 7 or 8. Now this is her routine: Nap times vary.

E 8:30

I was trying to adjust her time to 6 instead of 5:30 and was rocking and giving the pacifier. It was working but she kept trying to nurse to sleep. I decided to go ahead and do pat/shh and pick up/ put down and she reverted back to the 5:30 wakeup. How do I adjust this?

So are you saying that she used to sleep through the night but now she wakes up to eat at 5:30 AM?
