need help with wake to sleep
« on: November 12, 2005, 16:51:02 pm »
My one-year old's morning wake time has gradually moved from 6 am to 5 am.  It's been at 5 am for at least a month, and is driving me crazy.  He is generally a good sleeper, with a sleeping schedule as follows:

5 am: UP!
8-8:30: Down for nap
10:30: Awake
3: Nap number 2
4:30-5: Awake
8 pm bedtime

For the past three days, I've tried to use the "wake to sleep method" and gotten up at 4 am and picked up him so that he wiggles around but doesn't really wake up.  He still wakes up an hour later.  Am I doing something wrong?  Should I wake him up totally?  I'd hate for him to them start waking at 4 am...

Help!

hi there,

i noticed in your schedule that your lo is sleeping close to 4 hours in his naps?  i think he's waking at 5am cause he is all done sleeping.  around 1 year old, you're looking (on average) at 13-14 hours total.

you might want to try cutting back that morning nap to an hour, so he can put that 2nd hour in his night sleep.

just a thought.   :D

Thank you Jaime!
You and my mother both said the same thing, so now we're going to try to shorten his morning nap a little bit every day.   I guess now is the time to try and start moving his two naps together...
