How long ?

Looking for help here ! My 8 week old has usually taken about 25 minutes each side since birth but now seems to finish a bit quicker. sometimes let him have 20 minutes just to be sure but not sure how to tell how long is enough etc. etc. breast feeling "full" and "empty" is a bit confusing too as I sometimes think they feel empty but I can get more out when he's changed sides. any advice much appreciated.

Does he seem to be snacking? as in- getting hungry again before the next feeding?   If not, then he's just getting more efficient- which is nothing to worry about.  -Also make sure to keep checking the diapers- output is a great signal of input.

Babies tend to be much more efficient starting at around 6-10 weeks. Some can be really fast, my dd was usually done in 5 minutes.

You need to look for output not input. That is if he produces 6-7 wet and 2-3 dirty diapers within 24 hours, if he is gaining weight, is active, happy and so on.

Also, if he can go at least 2 hours between feeds, I would say he is doing as most babies do .

Thanks for your replies. I'm hanging in there. He's still fussing and taking less time but loads of wet,wet,wet nappies so I'm pretty cool I guess !
