My DD wants to sleep all the while
« on: November 14, 2005, 12:08:59 pm »
My DD who is nearly 5 months wants to sleep all the while, should I be worried?

She wants to go to sleep after 1hr, I manage to get her to go to 1.15hr.  She is on 3.5 EASY at the moment.  She naps well for 1.45 or 2hr.  Her total daytime sleep is about 5hrs and she sleeps very well at night.  She goes to sleep about 7pm.  My DP does her DF at 10pm.  She wakes up when her nappy is changed.  She goes to sleep at 10.30pm through to 7am.  She stirs in her sleep at 4am, but she doesn't wake up.  She wakes up at 5am when I stick her dummy in. She goes off straight to sleep until I wake her at 7am.

I think her teeth are giving her problems though and she has a birthmark on her arm which there is a couple of sores at the moment, but when she is awake they don't bother her.  Is this why she is so tired?

She managed to stay awake for 1.30hr before her sores and teeth.

When Jessica was a baby she wokes for feeds about every 4-5 hours and then slept. As she got older she managed to stay awake longer, but mostly she would wake up about 8am,breakfast then milk about 30 mins later, sleep for a couple of hours, have lunch and bit of play sleep for a few hours, wake up for dinner, bath, play,go to bed at 6.30 til 8am.
Up until she was 2.5 she would have 3 x 2 hrs sleep during the day and sleep all night.
I wouldn't worry,some sleep,others (like Emily) don't

My dd is still a "sleepy" one.  She sleeps a lot more for babies her age.  We have finally just gotten to 2 hrs during the day.  I noticed though that she started to sleep more after getting some teeth but not during teething.  It could be that she is having a mini growth spurt.  I guess that is when babies grow- while they sleep!

I made the mistake of trying to force longer awake times and now I don't do that I just watch for her signs...and this way we're all happier this way! TRUST ME!

I keep asking my ped about her getting to much sleep but he thinks it's great esp since apparently it's some sort of epidemic that children don't sleep.  As long as she is alert and happy during her wake times I wouldn't worry either!
