separation anxiety, how to get a babysitter
« on: November 14, 2005, 23:13:00 pm »
I have a 5 1/2 month old and she has major separation anxiety. she olny wants to be held by my husband or myself or my mother. she does not and never did like when others held her. she is very sensitive to loud noises when she is not with us. Obviously a touchy baby. how do I get her used to a babysitter? I had a 14 year old neighbor over the other day to meet her and of course she did not want to be held by her. we have a Christimas party in a month and need a babysitter. what do I do to get her used to people???? I don't want to let her cry hysterically or get so scared. not sure how someone else will be able to put her to bed if they cannot even hold her. uggggg help

I'm also trying to find a babysitter for dh's christmas party.

My only suggestion is to get the babysitter to come over and just be in the room with your lo as much as possible.  I know Emily almost always cries when a stranger looks at her closely and I always wait about an hour before I hand her over to someone new to hold.  Then she's okay!
