11 Month Old Waking for night feeding
« on: November 15, 2005, 15:59:27 pm »
My 11 Month old was sleeping wonderfully through the night and in the last week or so, has been waking at 3am for a feeding.  I have tried to give her a soother and do PU/PD to get her back to sleep but she is too hungry to even consider it.  She is eating 5 times a day and nursing 4 times a day.  Each time I let her eat until she is full, so I don't know how to get her to eat more during the day.  Any suggestions?

Also, would it be better to continue trying PU/PD or wake to sleep to solve the problem?

Thanks!

what does she eat and how much in each meal?
may be give us an example of what she eats in a day?

she might need food that will hold her longer like rice, potatos, pasta and meat.

Her day goes something like this:

3am BF for 15 minutes
7am Awake and BF 5 minutes
7:30am BKFT  3 Tbsp Cereal, 2 Tbsp Yogurt, 1/3 Banana and 1/4C of Cherrios
10:30am (after morning nap)  Snack 1 1/2 oz of Cheese and 1/2 Rice Cake
12pm LUNCH 3 Tbsp Cereal, 1/2 C Meat, 1/4 Noodles, 1/4 soft cooked vegetables, 1/4 soft fruit pieces and one arrowroot cookie
3:30pm (after pm nap) 1/3 Banana 2 Baby Mum-Mum cookies
5pm DINNER very similar to lunch
6:30 6 to 8 oz bottle of formula
7pm Bedtime

Does this help?

I forgot to mention, she breastfeeds after every nap for anywhere between 5 to 15 minutes.

her combination of food sounds very good ! i think up her solid is your best bet. try some soft rice or potatoes for her dinner may be?

and you may need to break the cycle of her BF at 3am. try lessen the time to 10 mins or less, then you should be able to get her eat more during the day.

and ... think you might consider BF 3 times a day instead of 4. but do check this with your ped. i bottle feed so i don't have much idea about BFing.
