Little leggies too fat for Bumbo Seat!!!
« on: November 16, 2005, 19:18:58 pm »
Blooming Marvelous have just delivered my long awaited Bumbo seat.  I was so excited when it arrived so i scooped up Ds and plonked him in it, but his little legs wouldnt go in

I did eventually squueze them in

How cute do they look in them!

Did anyone else have this problem??

How did your lo's react to the seat, Jude at first kept arching his back but eventually stayed still when i distracted him with a toy.

I had to pretty much squeeze Zoe's in too  :D   She actually ended up not liking to sit in it for very long as she couldn't reach her toys when she dropped them.  It would be nice if there was some sort of tray.  I used it ALOT though for wagon rides with my 3 year old - worked perfectly  :D

HAd to squeeze my little one in it too; I was so excited when I got it ( she was 4 months old) 8 weeks later she is ditting on her own and the bumbo is redundant apart from when she sits on the table with us. She used to arch her back as it was frustrating the toys were always too low for her to get; a agree it owuld have been great with a tray.

The arching of the back can actually be a sign that they are not sitting back in the seat far enough and are losing their balance.  My DD sees a physical therapist, and I asked her what she thought was wrong because she always seemed to arch in the seat.  Well, she showed me that Rachel was scooting her butt forward to reach for toys and then when she tried to lean back there was space and she would arch.  I also used to give her toys at eye level or above, and this can cause them to lose their balance too.  Now we put the toys on the floor so she has to look down.  We also put some of those skid things you can use in your bathtub in the bottom of the bumbo to keep her butt in place.  And yes, those chunky legs aren't going to fit for long either.

Toms little legs only fit when we sit him right back in bumbo!! He tends to arch his back if he doesnt want to go in it, usually if hes overtred, but hes fine if we only use it occasionally. We put him on the dining room table on it when were eating, and also when we feed him, this is grat because he cant sit in his trip trapp chaior yet (as cant quite sit up on his own) and hes learning all about food and meal times from watching us (he even sometimesopens his mouth as if he wants some when we eat food he recognises like mash!!)

I know bumbo is only meant to be used on the floor  but its a big table, and we stay with him all the time!! Ive also been known to put it on the kitchen work surface when im baking, as he is a curious litle man and loves to see what im doing, and look in the mixing bowl etc!!
