1 yr old does not like cow's milk
« on: November 17, 2005, 01:45:24 am »
My 1 yr old readily drinks breast milk from a cup but does not appear to like cow's milk.  I've tried soya milk. I've also tried to mix some cow's milk with the breastmilk in hopes that he gets used to the taste, but at this rate it will take me 6 months to wean him.  I'm very concerned about milk not being part of his diet.   I'd rather not get into a situation where I have to dose my child with vitamins to make up for what would be lacking in a diet without milk.  If this was the case, would cheese provide enough of the required fat.   My older child drank cow's milk without any problems.

I'm of the belief that you don't need to offer cows milk once they are weaned.  I just make sure I offer other alternatives such as: cheese, cottage cheese, yoghurt, leafy greens, fish, nuts and other foods are often forified too.
