What do you have in your under 3mo's crib?

Hi,
Just wondering what people think about mobiles etc in young babies' cots/basinets?  At the moment my dd (nearly 8wks) has nothing in her basinet which is in my room - only very plain cream walls, nothing much for her to look at.  I am in two minds about whether to put something for her to look at into her basinet.  Wouldn't I be confusing her by saying "it's time to sleep, but here's something to stimulate you"?  But I also think it would be nice to have something to look at for when she wakes...

What have others done?

i have never put anything in with the girls when they were young - olivia at 9 mo has nothing still although there are things in her room so she can see those if/when it is light in her room...

when alex got older (over 16-17 mo i think) i added a couple of stuffed animals and later we started putting in books for the morning to occupy her in the cot.

We have always had a Dreamscapes soother in her crib. It's an excellent crib "toy" made by Leapfrog that plays soft songs/lullabys, a bedtime story, etc and has soft pastel lights (you can also play with lights off). It has always helped soothe Marisa to sleep and when they get older they can turn it on again in middle of night if they want to. I highly recommend it!

i always had a mobile in their crib, though i could have taken it out for luke since i've almost never used it with him.

i did have 2 animals in there with each child - but they were only toys they saw at sleepy time.  i was trying to drive that association very early on.  granted, it's not until they're almost a year old that they WANT these things to sleep with, but i figured any consistent cue was helpful.   :D

Tiny Love do a flat board book thing with black and white images that you can  curl around the moses basket.  I had that in there for 'Activity time' and sometimes a mobile as well,

ryan didn't have a mobile in his moses basket but when he went into a cot at 4mths he had a mobile and it was beautifull to hear him on the monitor in the morning gurgling away to it.we would get an extra half hour in bed
