Cathy-Absolutely LOVE the pic of Carter in the leaves.  It made me realize that Cole has never, ever sat down outside!  Isn't that crazy   The pic of you on your own seems familiar...like I would know you for some reason but I don't think so.  I thought maybe I might have played soccer against you but you're much younger than me so I doubt it.  And who knows if you're even a soccer player  Also, thanks for the offer re: dogs.  It will be a while yet...won't be moving at least for a couple of years.  This house is too small for dogs.

Kate-sooooo busted LOL!  When DH and friends were watching a movie the other night I said I was going online to chat.  And they asked with whom?  I said "other mommies from around the world" and they laughed like i was crazy

Micky- DH wrote his CMA (Certified Management Account) entrance exam.  That's the hardest part of the program.  Still two years of group/individual assignments but it's pretty much a gimme from here.  Glad to hear Jack is well (aside from the short nap)

Erin-my gosh, what a scare!  Glad to hear Katie is on the mend.  Your pediatrician sounds wonderful.  Maybe send a thank-you card for his/her time?

for us...well, another rough kind of night.  I have at least one episode where he's up 1-1.5 hours.  I just extended a nap by holding him...and well, I think he's waking now after a whopping 5 minute extension.  I am trying not to doubt myself with the holding to sleep. sometimes he wakes a bit upon hitting the mattress and will grab my hand and settle on his own so I guess i shouldn't worry.  And once I'm certain it's not teeth I will endure a week of pupd or however long it takes to get back on track.  On a positive note, I took your advice Kate and didn't get him up (well, out of his room) until 6 this morning.  He woke at 4:10 and fed.  I tried keeping in his crib but it became a game...him getting up, me putting him down.  So I let him stand as long as he wanted until he cried...sometimes 5-10 minutes (of standing), then I'd put him down.  I ended up holding him to sleep again at 5:10, went to bed myself at 5:30 and he got up at 6:10.  So at least our day started later, kind of    I am doing what I feel he needs right now, at least what my gut is telling me to do, BW or not!  Tonight he's staying up until 6 regardless of how tired he is.  No more of this 5:15-5:30 bedtime nonsense!

okay, DH is giving me trouble to get showered.  going to Home Depot to pick up a bunch of stuff and put up our xmas tree today.

Quick post.

Holly, have fun at the party.
Ankie, my principal asked me to come back at the beginning of the second trimester which just happened to fall a week and a half before our two week break.  I actually wanted to come back after the break in January, but now I am kind of happy to be going back for the sort of trial period of the week and a half...maybe that would work for you too?  Also, I posted in the working parents forum for suggestions for moms going back to work...so far Ihave gotten some really great responses.  You might want to check it out at some point....just a thought.

Question for you ladies.
I have been using Similac Advance to supplement my ebm for about a month or so now.  We have also given her a bottle or two of formula only.  I am wondering, are there big differences in formulas?  Would it be bad to switch?  I only started using this stiff because we had a free can of powder from the hospital...being the cheapskate that I am...
I have coupons for other brands...and I am wondering if I should stick with the Similac because it works or if it's a big deal to change?

Thanks in Advance.
Hannah

Traci -sorry about your rough night...big hugs, I can totally relate.
We need to get our Christmas lights up outside still, then comes the tree.
Good for you on your early start...let me know how Cole likes the tree!

Hannah - I wish I had some advice on the formulas, I don't though, I'm honestly not sure about switching them at all, hopefully some of the others will know...good luck.

hannah...if sophie doesn't have any issues with constipation then it is okay to switch.  We also started on similac for the same reason as you....us being cheapskates too!! :)   I think I would have started on Nestle Good Start had I know that Jack was prone to constipation and therefore stuck on Similac.  They sell Good Start up here at Costco so I maybe could have saved a couple of bucks also that way!  :D

Love the pics Holly. Is that your sis to your left?

I am still planning on taking a pic when we meet up next.  If we can ever get enough sleep to meet up that is

Naomi-in case I haven't said it enough-good luck tomorrow!  I'm sure Janean, Riley and Jayson will all do great.  And I can just see the smiles now when you walk in the door at the end of the day :D

yay holly, thanks for the pics, some more to add to my collection. So I see the tradition continues in the hotness of us all
I think I have saved most of the pics you all put up. It helps me to remember who I talk to, and was a good help with janean in showing her who you all were.
Many thanks once again for the kind words of encouragement, I am excited yet anxious, I guess that goes with the territory with starting a new job after being on mat leave.
Oh, I got Riley to settle on her own just now, woohoo!!!. She wouldn't settle on me, so I had an "inckling" that she would do it, so I tucked her in with her care bear, she has take care bear, I slowly edged out of the room, sh noticed I was there, but just put her head down. Now if she will do that at bedtime I will be dancing for joy.
Right....that is my time for now......bye for now you hotties

G'day Everyone,

Happy Anniversary to Hannah :) and congrats to Traci's DH. Traci - LOL at Cole pulling a Halle  .

Hello and welcome to Janean.

Hayley - the plane broke down??? omg that just freaks me out. Are you still going to get on it after they fix it????

Naomi - good luck for your first day, dont forget the pics

Erin - Hope Katie is feeling better.

Hugs to everyone having rough nights and hello to everyone else. (love the pics everyone)  Judy -are your girls still sleeping all night? I read so many pages I can't remember everything :?:  :)

Nikki - I have issues with people (family) all the time about Halle's food. They try to give her things like ice cream, ice blocks, biscuits. It drives me mad. Then they question why can't she eat that? I say because she is my baby and I say she can't eat that yet !!! I even have some people tell me I should stop breastfeeding    That makes me even madder. Yesterday at the divorce party a friend commented that I have lost a lot of weight. Before I could answer one of my other friends blurted out "Halle is sucking the life out of her, she needs to be put on a bottle"    I just looked back at my other friend and did this

Traci - we try to put Halle to bed around the same time everynight also. I have also being trying for naps around the same time as well which has resulted in her starting to sleep longer than 45mins :D  :D What I find is that sometimes there is like a little 'hump' that you have to get over. So she might be a little grizzly and cry a bit earlier, but once I get over that hump she is right to go for a bit longer. KWIM? I am not sure if that makes sense

DH Rave - Well, I went to the divorce party saturday night and DH was home alone all night with dd. I was so happy that everything went well and she took a bottle from him with no trouble. She woke at 11.30 and he re-settled her and 3.30 he gave her a small bottle. I suppose it's no big deal as there is no reason why he shouldn't be able to look after her by himself. Maybe I am just happy that I now know I can do things and not have to worry that he is going to stress out :? omg am I making any sense today?? I better go this is a long and confusing post  8)  :?   :D

Hi, just a quick one as Daniel is waking again after only about 45mins. This cold is still lurking (for us both) and I think he's teething aswell so his sleeping during the day today is not going well. He's just sooo grizzly and out of sorts, with 2 red cheeks but only one really hot feeling one.

Bec, re the plane.... I think it 'broke down' after it landed safely. The airforce is really particular about their aircraft and if there's something every so slightly not right they ground it until fully investigated and safe to fly. Which is a good thing, I'd rather that than have them fly when it's not safe. And with only 1 Boeing 757 when it's out of service there's no replacement. DH is due home on Friday, and although that's still 5 days away I'll just stay here. We're off to Wellington in the weekend though so I may stay there for the week afterwards as DH goes away again. (I think I may have told you all that already  )

Judy - great to hear your girls are doing just sooo well now. I bet you didn't think it would ever happen a month or two ago. Well done, pat yourself on the back.

Hannah - we've switched formula's and our health nurse said it would be fine to do so, just not all the time. In saying that, I've got a friend who just buys what's on special.

Yay, sounds like Daniel's gone back to sleep. In that case I'll say ta-ta to you girls and go off to the garage to pull out my Chrissy decs and tree! Yay!!!!

Bec, I also get the breastfeeding comments from my grandmother (she was mortified the other night when she asked how long Nathan BF for and I said 14mths, also apparently babies in her day were fed EGG WHITE instead of milk, but then she is 90 and times have changed huh?) and my mum seems to think that my babies are/were weaning at 8mths and should go onto whole milk!

About the breastfeeding... I get tonnes of comments from my friends. It is not very popular for alot of Chinese Canadians to breastfeed. Some will pump and give EBM via bottle but only for a little while.

I got a look of horror from my friend's husband when I said that Arwyn needed to be fed and that she is breastfed. He asked if I had a bottle for her and I must have given him a puzzled look because as he realized, his eyes nearly popped outta his face. Anyhow, she was only 7 weeks at the time. Another friend asked me why Arwyn had not weaned yet. "Why, she is almost 6 months for God's sake, Ankie!" was the comment.

So... I live with this... there is only 1 Chinese Canadian friend I have that EBFs her baby. But... my 91 year old grandma keeps telling me how great it is that Arwyn still breastfeeds! Completely different from your granny, Nikki!

But....off schedule, didn't get him calmed down and into bed unitl 9pm OMG....way off schedule...will i pay more for this outing now.....???
