Andrea, yes, Molly is getting her 2nd round of the flu shot. She was supposed to get it tomorrow but now with the ear infection we have to hold off until that is gone. So we are going mid-December now.

Molly's nap this morning was 2 hours, then this afternoon 45 minutes, so I know what you mean about leaving them to a long nap = short afternoon nap. Will keep that in mind. Does anyone's LO do the 2 hour a.m. nap and the 2 hour p.m. nap??

Richelle, where are you that it's -25?? Here is it about that with the wind chill. Very NOT lovely.

Holly-I guess Brady won't have any problems with Santa now that he is friends with the clowns!
Judy-You deserve a massage and much much more.  SO glad your DH is coming home.
Hannah-Hope the next week and 1/2 goes really fast.  The kids will love hearing stories about your LO and it may help to boost your spirits.  I used to miss my dog all the time when I was at work and I found if I put him and DH into journal stories I didn't miss the boys in my life so much.
Andrea-Got the second round of flu shots here and everything went smoothly.
Got the first real nipple bite here today.  I was so surprised I squeezed his little cheeks super hard.  He did it again 5 minutes later.  I thought my nipple was going to fall off...
Rough night last night for us.  Lots of screaming at 12, then up at 4:45 back to bed at 6:45 until 8.  SO far the rest of the day is normal amazingly.  Took Ben to the doc to see if an ear infection started but all he has is a cold.
OFf to do some laundry.  Hope everyone is doing well.

Michelle-Naps here used to be 2hrs in am and around 21/2in pm with no catnap.  Now they are around 1.15 am and 2-21/2 in pm.  If I take a nap at the same time in the am I am cursing the little mongrel, I love to sleep.

okay, sorry in advance girls....this is a rant...yes it is about janean, and no I don't really care if she sees this.....
Right, bit of a background...janean has been staying with us since the end of september, the agreement was that we would help her out with living accomodations until I got to start work, and then we would pay her to have the kids, she would still live with us, but at the time she wanted to go out west at the time (to BC), so we thought we would be the perfect opportunity for her and us.
Well....I have hit my limit, after her living here "scott free", with full internet, over 200 channels on cable, food supplied and laundry done with ours....she met a guy...maybe even "the guy" ifkwim.
Anyhew, he needed a plce, so we let him stay here, I am a pity case, and couldn't handle the guilt of not helping them out to get on their feet like we had been given.
So, after having her man here, feeding him too. All this as we were trying to pay rent, our bills, plus feed four adults and two children.
So, not a thankyou of anysort out of wither of them, not even when I paid her, she swears she did, but my dh does not lie to me, as he was the one who noticed.
So my dh is a randy thing, bugs everyone, he is very sexually minded, that is the best way I can put it. Well how about a randy teenager, you know how guys carry on with their buddies.
So Janean's man gets in a huff, says it is very disrespectful, and he is leaving, after Janean goes after him, I tell her he is no longer allowed in our home or anywhere near the premises....This is our home, we have fed him and provided a roof above his head, no questions asked, so in my mind he really doesn't have a say in our home as he doesn't contribute.....
So.....all that has happened and she leaves and back chats in the hallway on her way out.
That is my final straw, dh is out looking a a sitter I found yesterday, she sounds wonderful, so hopefully Ri wil be there tomorrow.
BUT, THERE IS GOOD NEWS....it was Jay's first day of school/daycare today, so he neer noticed we left, he went right off to the toys, and he screamed when we said we had to go home to Riley.
I applaud you for reading this and getting this far, I just needed to let it out. Thanks for the shoulder girls.....I miss you all and I will check back in the morning before I go to work.
Now you see what I mean when I say that you girls have been better friends to me than the ones I have around here.
Right, I am off to control the screaming monster that is my son...haha

OMG Naomi that is just craziness.  How ungrateful of them both   So sorry that things didn't work out but now you'll have your whole place to yourself, a whole lot more money and hopefully a great place for Riley.

Andrea-we're doing 2 rounds of flu shots.  She knew Cole had a touch of a cold but she said as long as he is in good spirits it's okay.

I am so lucky girls, even with teething, a cold and poor sleep my little guy was still a charmer at the doctors office.

I learned first hand the error of letting him sleep too long.  Darn doctor keeping me there so late.  Cole fell asleep at 1:55...when he's normally waking.  He slept until 3:00 so I just had one heck of a battle to get him down for bed.  Started at 6:10 and he gave up at 7:10.  Did PD for 30 minutes (as per kate!) and I must have put him down 150 times.  I kid you not.  Then he was going to settle but wanted to hold my hand so I gave in, then he sounded like he was choking on his snot so i got him up to wipe his nose and he started again! 10 more min of PD, 10 more min of handholding/patting and he's finally asleep.  *sigh*.  I wonder if I shouldn't have caved and made him settle without the patting.  Kate-is that what you do or do you pat him towards the end?  My back is really getting sore with all this patting to settle and I want him to sleep independantly. Anyway, gotta run, DH home and he made dinner as I was up with Cole.  He's not feeling so great after having crummy sleep...welcome to my world!

Hi,

Judy - I hope DH made it home OK and that once the girls get their cuddles that you can get a few in.

Naomi - OMG, It is horrid how some people find it so easy to take advantage of kindness, you deserve better and so does Riley.  It is so great to hear that Jayson loves daycare.

Kate - Fab news that Ryan is sleeping again!!

Traci - I really hope it gets easier to get Cole down.  Sophie had a 45 miute nap this AM and usually she has a really good afternoon nap but only slept for an hour  :?  but since we have dropped the catnap she is sooo sleepy by bedtime she hardly even talks to herself so I may be paying for it down the road.

Macaire-I can't imagine how that feels, Sophie has 8 teeth now and when she gets a hold of my finger it is torture, i can't imagine a nip on the boobie!

Big news here is Sophie says MAMA and HI back to me when I say it to her    I hope it continues, it was very exciting as she was doing it all day!!  She of course has her standard babababab and adadadadada but these are new and very distinct!

hey it is me again....we got things sorted, Ri goes to a new lady tomorrow, she has three other kids she has in the day. She is a blessing, not just because of the short notice, but she is willing to follow Ri's routine, she asked for it to be written down so she knows what to expect. She doesn't believe in CIO. If there was a jumping for joy emoticon it would be here!!!!!
We laid the law down with Janean, she was shocked that we found alternative arrangements so fast....haha, I told her I am not as stupid as she seems to think I am!!!!!
I am glad you all liked the new do!!! Thanks for the hottie comment richelle, really made my day after the evening I have had.
Work is going well, I am actually starting to piece it all together. So if you canadian mum's call up to redeem you rbc reward points for travel...you never know it could be me on the other end of the line...hahaha
You girls are fantastic, I am so glad that we all know each other and that we are here to be there for one another, despite the miles between us.
Oh! Andrea how is everything coming for your company......I have a cute princess and a cool dude to spoil here!!!!!
See you tomorrow ladies.

Naomi - you said it chick !!!

Hi everyone,

I have been away camping for a few days. Sorry I haven't caught up on all the posts. Hope everyone is doing OK. Big cuddles if you need one or big high fiver if you need that too.

Camping went ok this time. Not as good as last time so I am a bit discouraged. She screamed the tent down yesterday. This morning she was much the same. I ended up going up to the chemist and buying some suppositories for her constipation. Not long after I used it she pooed, it wasn't much but she seemed to be in better mood afterwards. Also, it was very hot yesterday and today is hotter so I turned on the air con. So now I can't work out whether it was because she pooed or because she was too hot before?

The camping was also funny this time because of all the animals. We were sitting down eating our tea when a kookaburra landed on my friends plate and started eating his steak!!! It was soooo funny, he actually had the plate resting on his lap at the time. Needless to say the kookaburra had a nice meal while our friend had to eat a bread roll!! Also, I was being stalked by a huge goanna (lizard) it kept coming over looking for food and I kept having to chase it away with a broom!!!. There were a couple of American guys camping there as well and one of them slept on top of his car !!! DH asked him what he was doing up there and he said he was sleeping on the ground but then got paranoid about all the critters

This is what I got Halle for chrissy:
Peek-a-blocks train plus extra blocks
Baby Einstein DVD (something about water)
Musical Giraffe thingy
Push Car thing that she can walk behind then turns into a car that she can ride on  :?
More blocks ?
Floatie for the pool
Beach Shelter

I think that is enough - what do you think??? I think I should get her some books but the ones she already has she just wants to eat them.  What have you all got your lo's?  Disregard if you have already been through this

hi girls,

i've been trying to get caught up all day....every time I read one post there seems to be a whole page more to read!!   :)

Bec...when you said camping was fun because of all the animals....I was thinking squirrel, racoon, deer, or something along those lines...not a kookaburra (i think a bird??) or a guanna????   crazy talk!!!   :D   What a different world we live in!!  I got Jackson a set of puppets for x-mas.  That's it.  DH got him something too.  I didn't get him very much since I know MIL and my mom got him tons for x-mas and also with us going to California I'm sure my sisters have got him a ton of stuff too.

Naomi!!!!!!   You have way too much patience!!  I would have kicked those freeloaders out and changed the locks a long time ago!!!    I'm glad to hear you've found someone new to take care of Riley and that Jayson likes daycare, what a relief!!  :D

Traci:  Glad to hear your dad did well!!!  What a big sigh of relief!  Does he know how long he will have to stay in hospital?

Michelle:  When are you getting back from Victoria? I'm super busy this week with appts. since we are trying to fix this house and also build a new one....I'll have more time next week...Otherwise we'll have to meet up after the holidays. :D

Jackson has been having quite a few nighttime wakings lately (about 3-4 times over night)  I usually have to go in at least 2-3 times to settle him.  This is very unusual for him he was sleeping thru before....I think it must be seperation anxiety, or something....I don't know anymore!!    It's so much harder to get up now!!!  I can't imagine having to feed him every two hours like when he was a newborn!!  I think I must have been a zombie those first few months because I feel like one now!!  :?  :D

Wow...what a day! First off,

Richelle--Poor Sophie's chapped face! Liv's face gets so chapped, too. Do you just put regular Vaseline on it? Yeah! for her saying "mama" and "hi!"

Traci--glad to hear things went well with your Dad.

Kate--how big is Ryan? Liv is already 24 lb!! She's my little chunk!

Michelle--Liv usually takes a 1.5-2 hr nap in the morning, but her afternoon naps are usually pretty short.

OK, now on to our day...Christmas photos went pretty well...I've updated the avatar with one of the pics. Then we spent the afternoon running around town b/c I had to do an errand for my sister. The things we do for family, huh! So Liv didn't get a good nap this afternoon, but luckily she went down well tonight. Oh! And I think she did the sign for "drink" tonight at dinner. It was pretty quick, and she only did it once, but I'm believing that's what it was. It made my night!!! (Oh the things that excite us now.)

Well, I'm off to bed...wishing everyone and their LOs good sleep tonight (or today for those of you on the other side of the world).

Hi Everyone!!

How are you all??  As usual lots going on on the thread

Love the pics everyone - you have inspired me to take more and post more!!  Will have to get onto that

Naomi - what a childcare debacle!  Glad that you got it sorted out so quickly.  I guess there's a lesson there for all of us seeking care arrangements for our LO's.
Michelle - hope Molly is on the mend
Kate - yay for sleep!  Send some my way!
Bec - sorry the camping experience wasn't so great this time.  I guess you can't have it all, all of the time
LOL Micky - yes, a kookaburra is a bird!  Love the cultural differences, don't you!
Richelle - how clever is Sophie!  Lucky you were there to save the day for your mum!
Nancy - am loving the new avatar - I love chubby babies!
Traci - sleep vibes to ya!
Judy - am loving the stories as always.  Bet you are glad DH is home!
Cathy - cringe on the eyes.  Hope that a bit of rest helps.
Macaire - ouch on the biting - not looking forward to that!

And on the topic - the teeth have arrived here too!  Or should I say, tooth in the singular.  A little grumpy with it, but hey, what's new

No developments on the sleep front - still up a couple of times a night.  I'm riding it out for the moment.

A question - is anyone else's LO very vocally expressing their likes and dislikes re food?  Fraser seems to have decided he doesn't like meat and vege's, only fruit.  He very vocally tells us throughout his meals that he is not keen - until we bring out the "desert" (fruit) - when he opens his mouth like a cherub and silently scoffs his food.  He is also starting to clamp his mouth shut during his feeds.  Anyone else experiencing this?  Are you just going with what they like or are you continuing to offer the "offending" item/s as well?  And Bec, I read your recipe for DIY fruit gels - have you made any yet?  Do you use junior juice or regular juice?

Everyone - love you all lots.  Hope you are all doing well and your LO's are being perfect for their mummy!!  (I'm sure they are!)  So glad I found this place, can't imagine where I'd be without the support and friendship I get around here.  So thanks and big HUGS to you all.

Take care
Jo

Hello ladies!  It looks like I have missed alot in the last coule of days.  I'm only allowed 20 minutes of computer time before the headache sets in so I didn't get to read all of the pages I've missed!!  I hope everyones sleep issues are getting better.  Congrats to all those new toothies that are coming through!!  I think Carter might be getting his 3rd because he is sooo cranky!! He is napping well and eating well though so who knows??

We had a rough night last night (naturally of course ... DH is in Georgia for business so why not test mommy's patience  )  I'm hoping tonight is better.

On another note, I've been working on all those Christmas cards and am almost ready to send them out!!!!  I will have to figure out postage for all these other countries!

Have a good day everyone!

Bianca - adorable pics!! Thanks for posting them

Naomi - my goodness what a week you've had.  I hope today works out just great for everyone.  So am I correct here?  You fed these two for free, didn't charge them to stay in your house, did their laundry AND paid Janean to look after your children?  You are too generous!! :)

Yes dh got home safe and sound and on time!! :)  The girls were so thrilled.  I believe almost an hour had passed before *I* got a  hug - Z&S wouldn't let me near him and when he walked in I was holding K&H.  He was so tired as he'd basically been up since 2am our time and so by 8pm he was ready for bed as was I because I'd had a rotten night with Sarah and Kaia.  Unfortunately I'd let Zoe and Sarah have aft. naps.  They were so tired and so crabby and I didn't want them to be unhappy for dh's homecoming... well anyway dh tried to lie down with Sarah in her bed and Zoe wanted to join them so no sleeping there!!  At 10pm I woke up (drifting in and out of sleep) to hear Sarah yelling about something and dh was in our bed asleep.  I was not impressed..."enough already!"  so dh brought her to our bed where she did quiet and go to sleep.  Just too excited and not tired.  Kaia woke at 4.30AM!!! :( chatting away happily.  I left her (this was after I attempted W2S at 3.50am) and she drifted back to sleep but not before waking up Hannah who wasn't as happy.  I fed Hannah at 5.15am and put her back to bed successfully then Kaia was up at 6.30am.  It was nice b/c dh's body clock is 6hrs ahead so he got up and changed diapers and brought me babies and I didn't get up till he left for work at 8am (late).

I tell ya - at 4.30am I was so tired and so annoyed that AGAIN they were awake so freakin' early I said to him "if you EVER want sex again you had better get a vasectomy"  he generally says he's not talking about it... but even after I got up at 8am I seriously said to him "I am NOT going through this again! I don't want MORE children!"  He agreed that we had enough (still hasn't agreed to the vasectomy but surely he'll come around in the next year right???)  Don't get me wrong - I'm not resentful of the girls I have but I am looking forward to being done with infant sleep issues and moving forward with life with 4 girls.
