Hello, very quiet on here today, what a change!

Daniel ended up sleeping for 2.5 hours which was great, because not only did he need it, but I got to put my tree up! And of course, that gave me a great opportunity to take more photos of Daniel. Here they are.....

Desperate Housewives is on, so I must dash. :D

I just wanted to pop on and say a quick hello.  I am soooo exhausted this a.m after being up repeatedly throughout the night.  Carter woke up screaming at 11:00, 11:45, 12:15, 1:00, 2:00 ... and the list goes on.  I don't know what was wrong with him.  It would take forever to calm him down enough to stop crying and then I know he wanted to eat but he has been sleeping all night for months so I know he doesn't need to eat.  I ended up walking him around the house, looking out windows etc until he was calm and then doing our usual nap wind down routine and only then could I lay him in his crib and he would roll over and go to sleep.  I would just get back into bed and be drifting off and he would be up crying again.  He doesn't seem sick, there are no sign of teeth, maybe it is nightmares or something??  Any suggestions?  To make matters worse, DH was sick and absolutely no help   :(  I did end up bf'ing at about 2:00am.   Arghhh, who knows with these little ones sometimes eh ... so frustrating.  Hopefully he will nap well today.  He did wake Sat night too but only twice (although he did the same screaming) and then he had his first 2 hr a.m nap in over 3 months!
I'm confused ... and tired!  Hope everyone else had a good night and best wishes on good naps today!!

Hey everyone, Janean here so Nomi's off to her first day of work after we got her hubby good last night....    :D

First day as the nanny by myself is going smoothly, Riley right now is wearing herself out playing and watching tv at the same time, she good at multitasking, and jayson's been watching tv and drawing a picture for his mom but it's not turning out the way he wants it too, so he set it aside and gone on the next mess...

Other then that there seems to be no big problems thank goodness...

Ohhh drat I forgot to get a pic of Nomi on her first day off to work...  that's ok I'll be waiting when she gets home girls!!

hey girls, also just a quick post from me.

Holly-I'm no good at telling people look alike.  she had blonde hair...thought she might be your sis.  silly me, as your sis likely had a bridesmaid dress on.  I ALMOST typed BM dress, but then the silly women on our thread would comment on her wearing poop for a dress.  LOL

Cathy-Did Cole move in with you guys?  Same issue here.

I think I'm paying for holding him to sleep.  He slept great from 6-1:00, woke only once for his feed at 9:50.  Then it just went down hill.  pretty much up from 1:15-4:30, down until 5:15 then I called in DH for the first time ever as I have never ever been so exhausted.  Not even when starting pupd so many months ago.  I sat in the glider and cried and was keeping Cole awake with my sniffling  Most of the time he just wants to play :?:  :?:  :?: Does that mean it's developmental?

This morning I settled him for nap without tylenol or anbesol so maybe it's not teeth.  I looked at his gums today and no change.  I thought they felt swollen, but they aren't red or puffy.  The only sign of teething is he's clingy and chewing hard on a lot of stuff.  I extended the nap by holding him back to sleep and then bringing him to bed to extend MY nap.  He's in much better spirits than he has been after 1:45 nap.  hmmmph.

I might have to re-introduce full on pupd tonight.  No mercy.  I am thinking it has to do with letting him settle too long last week.  He doesn't seem too fearful of his crib though.  He'll play in it during the day anyway.  But it's the SCREAMING that gets to me.  If it was his regular cry I would let him settle but it's different somehow.  Are they just getting older and learning how to manipulate us?  Is that what's going on?

oh my, this was supposed to be quick and short, but little man seems content in his saucer so I'll take advantage.

Hayley-love the pics of Daniel.  We tried taking Cole's Santa hat pics yesterday but he wouldn't sit still.  They are quite funny actually with him crawling towards me.  I think we'll just have to use the ones we took at the party last week with DH holding him-just zoom in on his face.

We got our tree up yesterday too, no decorations yet though.  I rearranged the living room so that the tree is in the corner behind the sofa and 100% blocked off.  There was no way I was going to spend a month chasing Cole away from the tree.

Janean-happy to hear things going well.

okay, he's not so content anymore.

bye everyone

hi girls!

Cathy-IMO it sounds like teeth.  That is what was happening with Jack....he wasn't eating enough during the day because his gums were sore.  So for a couple of days I gave him tylenol during the day also....even tho he didn't seem to out of sorts just so that he would eat better.  He seemed to notice the pain more at night tho.

Janean...good to hear things are going ok so far....I hope you haven't jinxed yourself!!   :D

Ok....I've got a ?  -DH and I need to get our bathtub reglazed (it is the original avacado colored tub).  The last owner put way to much caulking around the surround and doors.  I've been playing over in my head how I'm supposed to ask the reglazer guy if he removes the excess "caulk"??!!!!    Do I say "We've got to much caulk...can you remove it??"  etc....you get where I'm going with this.

Cathy & Traci -  (((Big hugs))) to both of you. I can totally relate. What you are both experiencing sounds just like Brady. The screaming, not settling, me crying....etc....it just feels like you're going to have a meltdown. I truly don't have an answer for you both, I'm still working on it, but I do understand and have the utmost sympathy for your situation.
Cause unless you've had the "screaming" its hard to picture it.
I hope it gets better for you.

Janean glad to hear things are going ok so far

Hayley love the pics...so cute....we're getting ready to do Brady's Christmas pics today or tomorrow.

As for our night, we finally got 4 straight hours again....from 2am till 6am, its only 4 hours, but hey, better than what I'm used too.....I'll take it.

Traci:  I'm sorry that we have to be going through this  :(   Hopefully it will get better soon ...

I'm confused though because he is completely happy during the day, taking good naps, eating like a champ and then at night it's just all screaming!!!  DH is useless only because Carter never settles for him, he always offers to try though.  I just say I would rather have 30mins of crying if I do it and DH have a good sleep then 1-2hrs of crying if DH attempts it and me lying awake listening to it all!!!!!  Oh well, I can always hope that tonight will be better??!!!!  It will be ... right???!!!!

Atleast the snow all melted, the sun is shining and it is 60 degrees outside!
Maybe we will just take a long walk Carter and I and get some ice cream ... usually that'll cure anything!!!

Hi Ladies!! A new thread with pages popin up as I try to catch up. :)

I was going to wait until I had a picture before I posted again but who knows when that will be since DH is in charge of it.

RANT/RAVE - DH is a chronic procrastinator and I had to make him a check list in order for stuff to get done around here.  Leaky sink, babyproofing etc.  He's getting it done but breaking shower doors, busting pipes and buying new kitchen hardware that we really don;t need. Oh well, at least we're getting somewhere but my house is a disaster!

Hannah & Judy - Happy Anniversary!

Traci - sooo cute how Cole holds your hand to go to sleep.  How can you not gush!

Naomi - it's day one today isn't it?  Good luck and a big "what's up' to Jenean

Cathy and Holly are super hotties!!

Lots of breastfeeding comments from people.  The nerve! I'm not a big public breastfeeder only because my melons are so huge I'm scared of taking someones eye out.  Really, I've looked here, Seattle, Portland and San Fran and haven't found a nursing bra that fits proper.
Sols also very easily distracted when he eats.  I've tried it, not fun.
My milk supply has also been really low the last few days thanks to my 'visitor' (can't remember the acronym you guys use)  it's been so frustrating.  My dr. wants to put me on meds but it's only 3 or 4 days out of the month.  I'm thinking of trying Fenugreek capsules.

Ahh, someone's awake.

HI Ladies!  Warning!!!  This is going to be a LONG POST!

Missed you all with the long Thanksgiving weekend.  We didn't go on a trip anywhere, just had a lot of different fun things going on.
Thanksgiving was great.  she didn't nap very well, but was still super happy baby.  She ended up going to bed in my mil's porta crib so we got to stay and play cards, then got her up to go home around 10 and right back to bed.  Thought for sure she'd have some night wakings and ruin our 2 night winning streak, but slept right through till 7ish. :)
Friday we went to a party for parents and their babies (one of the moms in my group hosted it) and out of 8 babies, Taylor was the only one sleeping through the night!!!!  And yes, she was the only BW baby!  The next closest was a baby 9 months sleeping 5-6 hour stretches    We had a lot of fun.
Saturday we had friends over for dinner and watched a silly Adam Sandler movie.
Then yesterday I went to the movies with one of my new girlfriends from my moms group!  Had a great jam packed weekend.

So after dropping the df completely, Taylor has now slept all through the night for 6 nights in a row! :o   We are so happy after the rough patch we went through with getting her to drop it!  It took just over a week of MULTIPLE night wakings and a lot of doubting myself, but we made it through!
So Hannah, definitely recommend dropping it as I think it has now helped her night sleep the rest of the night.  We went cold turkey which I know is not advised, so your plan actually sounds better, but either way it worked!
And yes Hannah, it was my dh that told Taylor to stop practicing in the crib!  happy anniversary btw!

Traci-sorry to hear your nights have been rough and hope you see improvement soon.  We put Taylor down between 6:45-7:15, but 6:30 at the earliest if she has had a really bad napping day.  I think you are right to try and move bed time out a bit, and I think you may be surprised at how he can do with a long A time in the afternoon.  Taylor has now been doing about a 4.5-5 hour A time which sounds crazy I know, but she seems okay as long as she is doing something interesting KWIM?
BTW, tell DH CONGRATS!!!  that is so great!

ERin, sorry to hear about her cold and trip to the er, but like you said at least you had an awesome ped to help you through it.

Holly- sorry night have been tough.  hope they improve soon.

who started the comments about bf still?  crazy what people find shocking these days huh?  Gosh, sorry I am choosing to do what I think is best for my child!  oh well, I guess they think they know more than the WHO and AAofP!  luckily I get a lot of support from my friends and family (both sisters bf till 1 year).

Kate-totally busted on the chatting!!!  So know what you mean and in fact when I was reading your story it sounded like several of my run ins I have had!  It is weird to refer to you as friends, but it also feels right KWIM?

Janeane-wlecome to the borads and jump on anytime you have q's about Riley!

Naomi-where is our update on your first day and the picture?????  I am anxiously awaiting!

alright, time to go!  Have a great day everyone!

Hey Andrea, been missing you.  Nice to see you back :)

I am wondering if you ever had a chance to do a Pick up put down explanation or if you know where I can find one.  I wan to give it to my child-care friend just in case.  I totally understand if you can't/don't want to/don't have time...whatever, just thought I would ask.
Let me know what you think.

That's great about the df.  I think you are right about the better sleep.  Looking forward to it here.

Thanks for all the formula advice by the way.  Anyone use target Brand.  It's on sale right now and sooooo cheap, but is it anygood?

Had a great anniversary party/wine tasting last night.

More later, bub's up :)

Hannah
BTW...such a cute picture of Mickey and Holly.. you are just another babe in babeland :)

Micky  :D  :D  LOL ok - ask them about the caulk but really accentuate the "aul" so's this guy doesn't start giggling at you...  I know where you were going!! LOL

Traci  After reading Andrea's post and then thinking back to your night troubles with Cole here's my thought... and toss it out the window if you like because it's so easy to have an idea from ways over here :)  Start pu/pd with that df (the 9.50pm) on - skip it totally.  If any time of the day Cole was going to be able to go a long stretch without food it should be that first night stretch.  So if he's feeding at 5.30 or 6pm then 10pm df is really just another 4hour stretch.  I really think he could go beyond it.  AND as Andrea found with Taylor - perhaps he'll sail right through the night.  That's the first waking time I worked with and it went really well.

Now I just need to figure out how to skip the 5.30am waking??

Janean good to see you on the boards.

Gotta run - Sarah's crying for me.

Hi Guys,

me again.  Micky, little Jack is sooooo cute!
And about the caulk, I have a funny story for you guys    Dh was at my parents house putting up their crown molding and he was having trouble caulking the seams, it was all gooey and kept running all over the place instead of drying.  So my mom asks him, "ARE YOU HAVING TROUBLE WITH YOUR CAULK GETTING HARD?"  I kid you not she said that!!!      Art just said, no no, no problems here!  Very weird and a little creepy, but my mom I really don't thinke she meant for it to come out like that!

Anyhow, so now that our nights are great, Taylor is doing a lot of 45 minute naps! I am working with tweakign her A time in hopes of that helping, but there is no way in hell that we can extend her naps.
:?: Do any of you have success extending naps now that they are older and more aware?

BTW, Becca what is a divorce party?  Did I miss something?

Traci had asked for the Ferber article so thought I'd post for anyone interested.

Also, I do still need to do the PU/PD cheat sheet since it is so fresh in my mind!  I will work on that tonight and try to get it to you guys tomorrow

TTFN!
