hi girls, I am still here. I read at least twice a day, but I have been getting sooo tired lately. So last night I was a good girl and opted for a very early bedtime. That was disturbed by someone blaring their music outside our window, so dh went out, knocked on every door in the building, we live in a 6 unit apt. building, well, he couldn't find anyone around, so he went and found the car doors were open and went in and ripped out the deck and put it on the back seat.
Yesterday Jay brought home his frist pieces of craft things from school, I am going to put one on o\my desk at work.
We got our pics back from sears, so dh's project this weekend is to hook up the printer so I can use the scanner on it to put up the pics for you girls. I was to ansy to wait to get the pic of the kids to put in your cards. I mailed them out on thursday.
As for Janean, AHHHHH!!!!!, I got the keys back from her on thurs, she was a bit shocked that I wanted them back, she is not living here so why have them. Enough of that, she makes me too mad after what she did to talk about her.
OOOHHHHH!!!! Jay woke up from his nap and is sounding cranky.....gotta run girls.
I will try to be back soo tho!!!!

Hello everyone, welcome back Hannah. Yay on your first week over, and you've still got the energy to come and see us. :D

Cathy, with Carter going down 15mins early/rising earlier thing, why are you putting him down early? Maybe that's why he's rising so much earlier. Can you stretch him out again and see what happens?

Kate, yay for Ryan. Isn't it exciting! I had some friends who said they thought the first tooth was such a let down when it finally arrived. I didn't think so at all. I was very excited and still am! Nerdy mum!!!!

Ankie, you poor lady. Arwyn should definitely be giving you a break for Christmas. But as Nikki says, keep at it and surely there can only be an improvement.

Andrea, as for naps vs sleep, personally I'd be wanting a good sleep at night myself. Can you go out at the beginning of Taylor's wake time then either let her sleep in the pushchair while you're out or get home in time to expend some energy first. She might be able to stay awake longer if you're out then come home if she's been relaxing while out, so just watch her cues when you get home (within reason). Just a thought.

We went to a farewell bbq for one of the girls in our group last night. Actually it started at 4pm, so I thought Daniel would be fine. Normally he's awake at this time and pretty good/happy. But I think due to the weather (very muggy) and so many people, he was not a happy camper. After the first hour he became grizzly and sucking on his hand constantly. So I think teething was contributing to the problem too, but I didn't have any medication/powder for him. When we took his shirt off thinking he might also have been hot he was covered in a heat rash. So our poor little bear was not happy. We ended up leaving at 6.30pm. Oh well, at least we had dinner and I managed 1 glass of wine  When we got him home it was medicine and straight to bed (after bottle of course). He slept soundly from 7.30pm - 6.10am. He was much better thismorning. No tooth though.

RANT: DH is still sleeping.  It's 9.30am. Really annoys me, cos he stays up late then sleeps half the morning. Unless he's on morning duties, then he grumpily gets out of bed. The rest of the day he moans cos he's tired. I keep telling him if he kept his bedtime more consistent his body would adapt and he wouldn't have this problem. But will he listen???? No!!! He's pretty good in other respects, cooks most meals, helps look after Daniel (when he's awake) even pretty much knows Daniel's routine, but is just slack when it comes to getting out of bed cos it's daytime/morning. Enough of my rant. Don't normally have to do it, but today, I just felt like it. I admit that he offered to look after Daniel tomorrow morning and the following though, so there's a RAVE for him in there after all.  :D

Better go.

Sophie keeps getting into the Christmas presents, trying to be easy going Judy but figure I will hide them under the ruse of Santa so it doesn;t drive me NUTS!!

Ah see I *try* my best to be easy going but on things that bother me I remove the problem - so there's no presents under our tree they're all hidden away!! :)  If they were under the tree they'd have been unwrapped a million times by now and I'd be annoyed and nagging - so instead, they're hidden. ;)

Ankie - (((hugs))) - good for you and DH for picking a plan and going with it.  Hope you see some good results soon.  Fingers crossed big time!  And not to worry about the "swearing" (as much as you can on this site!) - everyone needs to vent now and then.  I was just saying to DH this afternoon - in August, I could count the number of times on one hand Katie didn't sleep through -- December, I think I could count the times she did.  However, we are not dealing with nearly the same number of wakings as you.

Andrea - Katie has never been the greatest napper - rare are the days when I get two good naps out of her, so what I've been doing lately is taking her out after nap #1, feeding her lunch somewhere, doing whatever, and putting her down for nap #2 when we get home.  It works -- sometimes.  I do try to preserve bedtime, but I haven't found a huge difference if we're off by a little bit.  So, generally I choose bedtime over naps.  I am beginning to wonder if I need to be a bit more of a stickler about naps/bedtime though in order to improve our nighttime sleep.

Hannah - You sound SO much like me teaching-wise it's scary.  I've had so many people mention to me that I definitely don't yell at the kids enough.  I work with a teacher who is so "old school" in terms of assignments/classwork and sometimes I do want to ask WHY??

Kate - YAY for the tooth!

Ladies, I had fun at chat (Cathy, sorry the shaved legs were wasted).  Sorry to have run when the other folks showed up, but it was getting rather late, and Princess Katie was up again last night.

Traci -waiting to hear how the party went.

Talk to you all soon!

Ankie, good luck tonight.  I agree with the other ladies.  Setting a plan and sticking to it (esp. if dh is on board, you lucky dog!) is a surefire way to get back on track.  If you only fed once last night and you were out and about and late getting her down, maybe tonight will be the night for you.   :D   We are keeping everything crossed for you and Miss Arwyn!

Hayley, sorry about Daniel's rough go at the party.  I bet it was the heat rash.  Don't you hate it when that sort of thing happens and you don't realize it right away?   :?   Glad he slept so well, though.

Naomi, good to see you girl.  Catch up on that sleep; you know we'll be here when you have more time!

Hannah and Erin, I think we would all have similar teaching styles.  I don't know why it wasn't obvious, if we all have similar parenting styles, but it still made me smile!   :D

No wrapped gifts here either.  I was going to start tonight, but leave them upstairs and out of reach.  As you can see, I'm not making any progress as of yet.  Wonder why?

Ryan was f Mr. Crankypants off and on today.  No surprise with the big tooth and all.  (I really am quite excited...or what do you Southern Hemisphere people say...fussed?  putzed? Hmmmm).  Gave him some Advil about 20 minutes before bed and that helped a lot.  Hopefully he'll sleep through again.
:?:   Since he didn't eat/nurse that much today, should I feed in the night if he wakes up?  Obviously am hesitant to start another bad habit and have to go through that he!! again.  He actually ate a decent amoung, just nursed shorter and didn't eat as much as usual, but still a lot, IYKWIM.  Hmmm.  Think I'll hold off for tonight and see what you smarty-pantses think tomorrow.

Really must go get wrappin'.  Love to you all!

Yay Ryan and Kate for the tooth! I did wonder what you were laughing at during the chat, Kate but I was having a chuckle when we were all jumping in there being all friendly. I thought the same as you though about "strangers" intruding on the chat. Is that selfish? Oh, and I would still not feed overnight. After weaning the night feed, I am wary of going back to it. I think that Sam would preferentially feed overnight as it is quiet and there is nothing else to do. I feed earlier so if he wakes say at 4.30 or 5 am then I would feed-technically morning.

Well done Micky for helping Mrs H out.

I wonder how Cole's night went and how the party today is going/went.... Oh and got your card and gorgeous pic of Cole, Traci.

Ankie, glad you have a plan. Looking forward to hear your progress and big hugs to you!!

Nikki, you mentioned a book on Love and Logic...who is it by? Geek here would like to start reading over the holidays if possible.

Well done Hannah on your first week!

Andrea, I preserve bedtime over naptimes.

Oh Cathy shame about the shaved legs.

Naomi, missed you but good to hear from you.

I'm off to rescue my shoes.

I know what a putz is but have never heard it used as a verb

I'll check for you ladies tomorrow at 10 est.

I hadn't even THOUGHT about the whole presents under the tree thing (maybe becasue we haven't even put ours up yet ?) until today and what do you know? you are all discussing it.  I swear...something about all concieving around the same time and giving birth around the same time is causing us to have the same thoughts?  (Not surprised btw that we are similar teachers too Kate and Erin)
Anyhow.  One of my favorite things  about christmas is (or should I say used to be)stacking the pretty wrapped presents around and under the tree...Oh well.  Now I see the usefulness of santa :D

Hey where's Bec??????

I am drinking green tea and eating jelly bellys left over from Brendan's bday party.  I feel a cold coming on.  Somehow this combination of food/drink better be the cure.
I have been such a junk food junkie lately.  Sophie definately eats better than we do BY FAR.  Dh had waffles for dinner tonight and ice cream for dessert  Yikes!  I keep thinking we'd better shape up so that we can be good roll models for our children and soon!

OK gotta run for now.  See you tomorrow!
Hannah

Andrea, I would definately choose night sleep over day but the only problem is I don't think you can really because they are so related.  I think the suggestion of doing things in the afternoon was a good one (nikki?)  I find I can definately stretch Sophie longer at that time without negative consequences.  HTH

Traci I am missing you already..

Naomi, good that you got your keys back.

BTW, Cathy I purposely Don't shave my legs...it doesn't work.  Wanna trade? Just kidding

Lisa...was it you talking about libido a ways back?  I am with you hunny.  I have none.  Zero.  Nada.  Although I have to admit it wasn't super strong before.

I talk about it a lot with you ladies and with dh.  That helps.  It is a bit of a sore spot for me.  You are not alone.

Such cute pics of all the pets and kids!!  Pre-Molly, we had a cat named Scratch that we had to get rid of when Molly was a couple of months old. She was very unpredictable, often would be fine just sitting and being petted, then all of a sudden would get a very dark look in her eyes and would pounce on your head!! We were scared she would turn on Molly so had to give her away.

Have a question if anyone has any answers...Molly is on her 3rd ear infection since the end of October. We are awaiting an appt with the ear/nose/throat doctor to talk about tubes for her ears. In the meantime, we are on ANOTHER round of antibiotics which is so hard on her little tummy. She has constant diarhea. I give her probiotics twice a day in her bottle, but does anyone have any other suggestion on any type of food to try that will solidify her bowels a little better?? The diarhea is so hard on her tender skin, I hate to see the angry, red rash.

Richelle - WTF was up with DH?? Sheeeeesh. Hope you kicked him a good one in the arse. What cute pics of the little princess though!  Your Mom sounds amazing, mine took to BW quite easily as did Aaron's Mom. It may not have been their way but they don't criticize us for our choices.

Hannah - so glad to hear that your first week back at work went well!! I go back January 11th so was watching your posts. Have you got Sophie in daycare?

Can't remember who posted about cars and carseats but I have a 2005 Malibu Maxx and it is wonderful, even for the rear facing full carseat! There is tons of room and there are sun visors over the back windows on the roof. The back seats also move back and forth and recline as well. It is a hatchback so perfect for stroller, baby bag etc... I love it!!

Kate - congrats on little Ryan's tooth!!! Yaaaaaaaaay!! Molly is still toothless. I was 11 months when I got 2 teeth at once and Aaron was 10 months. When the tooth poked through was it still quite pointy?? Thanks for the card and picture too, what a sweetie. Looks like such a happy baby.

Andrea - I guess I'd say I work more on preserving Molly's bedtime as opposed to naps. I have just found with her that if I take her out after her morning nap, I can extend her awake time and put her down for a later nap. She will go straight to sleep, sometimes for a shorter nap, but usually about 1.5 hours. That way we can keep her bedtime consistent.

Ankie - Hugs Hugs for you and Arwyn!!  Molly went through about 2 months of that waking every hour so I can relate and totally feel for you and your exhaustion. Hopefully it will pass soon.

I will try to come on to chat tomorrow night, 10 pm EST?? Not sure what time that is here in Alberta, Micky - have you figured that out yet??

Thanks all who have sent cards and/or pics!! I love getting mail. What a "card" I am.

Karen, here is the website for http://www.loveandlogic.com  .  Like I said though, I have mostly moved away from this style of discipline, the book's not available in NZ, I ordered it through Amazon.  But if you are interested in it, PM me and I will sell you mine.
