Erin ok - the feeding pillow is called EZ to nurse and I got it from http://www.doubleblessings.com  I really love it.  Can't imagine having breastfed without it.

Other than that... hmmmm, start buying diapers EARLY!!!  You go through LOTS :)

Well, we had a great night last night!!!  I was very surprised but very relieved!!  Carter was down for the night at 8:30 and didn't wake until 7:15am!!!!

About the dreamfeed ... we actually never did the dream feed.  In the beginning we did do cluster feeding though.  Also, at 2 weeks of age (when Carter started going 6-7 hour stretches at night)  I started pumping every morning and giving him whatever I pumped before he went to bed along with bf.  So, I just kept up the pumping every morning and giving the bottle at night.  Now I don't know how to get rid of it!!!  The pumping is a pain in the butt because my motor broke so I have to use the hand pump.  But, I honestly think that the extra milk at night is what got him sleeping 10 hr stretches by 8 weeks of age.  Back then he would only get an extra 2 ounces where as now I give him 3-4 before the bf.  DH always gives the bottle which he really likes to do.  I guess I could just start giving cereal at night instead but I like having the extra milk stored in the freezer too!  I can't wait until the pumping days are over!!!!  Actually the last 2 horrible nights of nightwakings were nights that I hadn't been able to pump in the morning so Carter got thawed bm instead ... I wonder if that has anything to do with his crazy night wakings.  Looking back in my journal, the last 2 other times he had thawed bm he woke multiple times in the night (approx 4 hours after his bottle).  Maybe the breast milk went bad ?????!!!  Hope not, then I would definitely feel like a bad mother.

Traci:  Carter goes 10.5-11hrs tops without a feed.  I really hope Cole starts sleeping better for you!!!  I know how discouraging it can be.  I hope Carter gets back on track as well.

Naomi:  I'm glad you had a good first day at work.  It must have been so hard to go back.  I have to go back in about 3 months and I am not looking forward to it at all  :(

Erin:  So glad to hear that Katie is feeling better.  I can't imagine anything worse than your baby being sick!!

As for friends making unnecessary baby comments ... I find it is usually family members that do it!!  I also hate how they don't listen to what you say about your own baby. In August we put a new roof on our house and there were lots of relatives here helping.  Anyway, Carter's room is right across the hallway from the bathroom so I told everyone that when they shower please don't slam the bathroom door as it will wake up my baby.  Well, just about everyone slammed the door, banged stuff around, yelled out the door "Where's the towels" and one Uncle even opened his bedroom door and went in because he wanted to say hi  !!!!  It was 10:00pm!!!!!  The other thing they all wanted to do (DH's dad was the worst) was give Carter coffee!!  I kept telling everyone no but every time I turned around there they were trying to get him to take a spoonful!!  The real kicker is that he is allergic to milk and eggs and there was milk in the coffee.  Needless to say I ended up with a baby with an extremely puffy face and I almost had to break out the epi-pens  !  After that Carter was off limits to everyone.  I got  alot of slack for that "c'mon we live far away and never get to see him"  Well then stop trying to kill him you idiots!!!!

Anyway, sorry for the long jumbled post.  It is breakfast time as Carter is starting to fuss.  I have some questions about solid foods but will save them for another time!!

Cathy, what is it with family!?!?!? When we were at the ILs last week for Thanksgiving, my FIL tried to give Olivia soda!!! I almost flipped! Luckily, my MIL stepped in before I had to, so it saved my relationship with my FIL. I'm not sure how I would have handled it. Kudos to you for dealing with your family the way you did and sticking to your guns!!

People can be so ... oh ...  stupid sometimes!!!  I remember when Zoe was about a year old and MIL was here.  She had a beer poured into a glass.  Zoe was in my arms but reached for MIL's glass (of course Zoe didn't know what was in it!!) and MIL holds it out to her and says to me "is it ok if I give her a sip?"  I moved Zoe away and said very sharply "It's not even ok that you are asking me that!"  She got the point and said later "are you ever going to let me be with her alone again?"  "maybe"

Her and I get along just fine - but she's learned that I'm VERY outspoken when it comes to my kids.

I just don't get why people would want to give babies things like icecream and coffee and soda???  It's crap food for adults (but yummy yes!) why on earth would you give it to babies??

As for breastfeeding - I do find that other women with young children or babies who have finished breastfeeding (or didn't) are the first to encourage one to stop.  I wonder often if it's a guilt thing???  I just think people should do whatever works for THEM and not feel bad about it, and not concern themselves with other's choices (unless it's dangerous/life threatening etc.)

hi girls!!

so many funny stories....I can't remember any of them already    but very funny!!  Oh....where oh where has my memory gone....where oh where can it be???

Traci: Jack goes 12-13 hours without feeding and is totally fine in the am.

BF comments :x   My one girlfriend (no kids) said she is only going to BF for 8 weeks then that's it....she doesn't want her boobs to get any bigger!!!     ROTFLMAO!!!!!  Well...I had a few comments for her that was for sure!!!  WHY BOTHER!!???!!!

Richelle-Great idea about the portable DVD player...maybe we will have to go and invest in one for our trip to Cali.
I called about a caulking problem.....and did just say it straight up just to see if I'd get a reaction (my kind of humor to hannah)....but nothing!  Such a let down.  But I'm sure those guys get caulk jokes all the time!  :D   I can't remember who had the other caulk story about it being all runny....I was killing myself laughing!!!!!  That is hilarious!

Jack still does need settling every now and again in the middle of the night.  Usually only once every 3-4 days.  He does cry out probably every night for the first few 45 min cycles but he can usually resettle himself.

21 more days until the casts are off!!!!!  YIPPY!!!!!!  The count down has begun!!!!

wow girlies, everyone is so very busy.  Cole has been great in his saucer but I'm expecting meltdown any moment so I may not be able to comment on everyone.

Huge hugs to Bec (and a bit of a laugh too-i HATE spiders), Richelle (you will get through the trip and your great little sleeper will do just fine), Ankie (I really think you need to stay consistent with whatever it is you choose to do)

Okay-my poor memory, that is all i remember :?

I'll have to post back about our night, but it was NOT good.  multiple wakings in the first 1.5 hours and I caved and fed at 10:30 then he was up until midnight, up every hour until 3, slept til 4:30, up until 5:30, slept until 6, fell asleep on the boob.  etc etc etc
After reading everyones posts today I'll try again tonight with renewed confidence, esp. seeing Taylor woke more at the start of the night.  All I was thinking was - this is when he usually has his best sleep!
On a positive note, I extended his 45 min. nap this morning to 1.5 hours.
OH-he stopped complaining in the saucer so I can explain more.

When he was waking b/w 9 and 10 pm he settled fine the first few times.  Then he wasn't crying, just didn't want to sleep.  Kept squiggling around and reaching out to hold my hand.  Then he starting practicing his clapping, and his "dada" (first time he said that!).

okay, he's done in the saucer and it's lunch time.  more later girlies

OH-the list went out last night. (You'd think you'd be too busy naomi  ) Please review your info and let me know of any errors/omissions. I got Macaire's this morning.  Will amend the sheet and send again.

It is POURING rain and yucky out here.  Likely an afternoon at the mall for us.

Well like usual you blink and 10 pages later... well I have read all I can read today!!!!

Here it goes:

Cathy- I feel for you and the "unexplained" bad night with Carter... BOTH girls on Monday noght decided to get up every 1-1.5 hours... it was worse than when they were born... Dh and I were stumped!! Then last night back to the norm- slept til 7am!

Hannah- we have switched the girls formula a few times (mostly when they were a few months old though). We recvd  so many free samples (Judy should understand!).. with twins they send you 2x the samples! So we had 12 cans of power- all different types... we used them up and no problems. We now use Enfalac with Iron.. cheap and the girls have never had an issue with it!

Micky- Jackson looks so amazing! So happy , not a care in the world! He is beautiful casts and all!
I am going to go to WEM by MYSELF sometime this week ( we have a wedding in Jasper on the weekend- need an outfit, possibly some "night wear"  ) .. if you want to come you are more than welcome! ( Jackson is welcome of course!)

Bec- The girls have slept through off and on (depends on the teeth and colds) for about 2 months... 730pm-7am. They are very inconsistant though. Teeth messes them up and they will wake for about 10 min at 2-3 am. They need some meds and then they sleep again (homeopathic stuff at night). Colds... well they wake once or twice for a few mins then doze back off... Sometimes I have the 5am waking prob. I give them 2 oz then put them back to bed... enough to get them through til 7 and they are still hungry for breaky.

okay here is my lovely MIL for ya.... She cried on the phone to my Dh a few weeks ago about not feeling welcome in our home ( she hadnt called in 4 months, and when she did she wanted to be invited to our house for thanksgiving- but my fam was coming and we had it planned for 2 months) She cried about how she wants to spend more time with the girls BLAH BLAH BLAH.... so Dh cancelled an xtra shift (worth $500 to us!!!!!) so she could come visit... so she was going to come on fri am. Dh calls at 9am (about the time she said she would leave- she is from 2 hrs away) SHE WAS STILL IN BED....complaining she worked until midnight.... Dh worked ALL night -5pm -7am, did not sleep (he's a paramedic) and stayed up all day to clean, get groceries and get the house ready. She showed up at 6pm- 1/2 hour before the girls bed time!..
Then the next am she didnt get up until 930- girls were already down for their nap. We spent the day together (it was like pulling teeth-really) then all the sudden at 11 pm the girls were fussy.. while dh and I went to check on them, She gathered her stuff and was waiting at the front door to leave by the time we were back down stairs. ... so she just left at 11pm... didnt really care to see her grand daughters in the am... she is LOOOOOONNIE!!!! I am starting to really really not like her...

Sorry had to vent- she is coo-coo, mean, selfish and doesnt even know the girls middle names... okay now that  Im done that, off to my excercize class....

Ah... family... my own mother, insists on letting Arwyn "pretend" to eat whatever she is eating. I can't turn around or mom would have put something to her lips. Yesterday, it was a coconut bun. Today, Arwyn has bright red cheeks and chin. I hope it is not an allergic reaction.

Thanks Andrea for giving me hope. Arwyn is about 2 weeks younger than Taylor so hopefully... I will get to sleep soon.

Last night... HORRIBLE. Arwyn is sick so she can't breathe, poor thing. She woke at 8 and I put her back down. She then woke 3 times between 10:20 and 11 pm. I nursed her at 11:12 pm. I could hear that she was having a difficult time breathing & nursing. Anyways, she woke again at 1 something?? and could not be put down... I think that as soon as she was horizontal, she couldn't breathe. So... I HELD HER ALL NIGHT LONG!  She could not be consoled, didn't want to nurse, for sure, didn't want to lay down in her crib. I tried and she cried for 20 minutes with me trying to comfort her. Also, she was awake from 3:20 - 4:40 at which time, I had WALKED her back to sleep. She wouldn't let me hold her AND lay down, because I guess she was horizontal again so... I catnapped all night long, SITTING UP!!!

She has NEVER been awake in the middle of the night, seemingly wide awake and not going back to sleep. Even with the crazy pu/pd sessions we have had, she has always had her eyes closed and didn't want to play or push off. Needless to say, I am right knackered and need a long winter's nap (got our first snowfall here).

I know, this too, shall pass... if it doesn't kill me first. I used to always say, "If it doesn't kill you, it will only make you stronger." I am now thinking, it probably doesn't apply to night wakings as I don't feel remotely stronger. If it were not for you ladies, I would feel a whole lot less confident and probably really depressed.

Oh... I forgot... Traci... Thanks so much for the addresses!! I already printed them out and they are ready to go!

I know I need to be more consistent about what I am doing to put her back to sleep but with the multiple wakings, it is hard, KWIM? If there are only 2 or 3 wakings, I usually nurse at one and pat & pu/pd at the other. However, if it was a night like last night (see previous post) or a night like yours, I don't have the resolve nor the strength of body and mind to do it. I am just mustering through the difficult times right now.

Anyhow... JODY... what's with that visit? Hardly worth her time or yours?

Micky...  too bad there was no reaction. I guess if you're in the profession, it gets old really fast??

TTFN... Arwyn is whining in her walker. She has discovered the messy hallway bookshelf  and walks over there and pulls stuff off.

Dang Jody... you look fabulous.  Love the dress.  The MIL trip could definetly have gone better.  I keep reminding myself you can't choose family.

Richelle - can I borrow your ILs? hee hee

Ankie - wow what a night.  I'm sending vibes of strength to you.  I think you're right about the toothpaste Ankie.  I was told to give it to them because we don't have any in our water and only use childrens' paste cause it has a low amount of flouride.   I think you asked me before if I was a teacher?  I taught ESL for 6 years.  I'm more of an educator/entertainer.  I love to teach my students in a fun way and don't have the strong fire in the belly that most real teachers do.  I guess that's way I like working with little kids.  What grade do you teach?

Can't remember much today but it sounded like most people had rough nights.  Sols started night wakings too.  He was up every hour from 6:30 to 11:00 then up at least 3 times during the night.  Won't let DH tend to him, only wants to stare at me for a few minutes.

He crawled yesterday at playgroup!  Isn't it a too soon?  He's only 7 months today!?  I'm thinking maybe seperation anxiety is starting to creep in or maybe it's because he took one nap for a whole 45 min yesterday.
