It's really strange - I know I must have gone through this with Josie, but for the life of me it made sense then and I don't remember being confused....
Anyway, going through my Super Baby Food book, more or less going with those guidelines with a few modifications - waiting longer for soy and most grains (only done millet and oatmeal and taking my time with those). For finger feeding she's suggesting that around 6 months babies can use their "rake" grasp to feed themselves. Well, Natalie would certainly LOVE to be doing that, since right now EVERYTHING goes into her mouth for exploration, and feeding herself, well, I think she'd like that. She already holds at least one spoon at mealtimes (good thing I have 3 at the table most times LOL), and when the bowl is empty, she's trying to lick that clean too.
The foods the author recommends starting with are things like teething biscuits and french toast. Ummmm.... aren't they WHEAT-based?

And isn't wheat supposed to wait till a year?
Plain Cheerios are on my next shopping list (wouldn't you know it, the rain just started coming down heavier now that Nat's napping off her morning jab?), but what else can I give her now? Haven't started corn or peas, although we did just start green beans, so I guess she could have little bits of that and ditto pears, but banana just mashes (plus we're taking a break from banana since it seems to constipate the heck out of her). And little bits of fruit and veggie are mostly slippery and slide out of her fingers anyway.
So, where to go with this? I feel like such a goofus for asking, but I don't remember!!!! Josie was older at this point (started earlier too on account of her reflux) and eating cottage cheese and peas and corn, but this one, well, I feel kinda stuck.
TIA,
