I have read on another forum, that if your lo are refusing to take much milk they are ready to go onto solids ???   Is this right?

No I dont think thats right. You start solids when your lo is hungry and milk will not satisfy them. If a baby starts refusing milk they could be coming down with something or they may be frustrated with the teat flow rate, etc  I wouldnt start weaning for this reason especially if your lo was younger than 17 weeks.

I'm not sure what you've read, but that isn't quite accurate. Formula and/or breastmilk should remain your baby's main source of nutrition until close to 1 yr of age, so if a baby is refusing to take milk, there's probably something else going on, like Seona said. Solids are mainly for practice and nutritional supplementation and aren't intended to replace milk for several more months.

There's an announcement at the top of this forum with some information that may help you decide if your baby is ready to start solid food. HTH!
