Very sudden change in sleeping
« on: December 01, 2005, 09:19:15 am »
Hi, My daughter is coming up to 20 months old.  She has been sleeping in her own room since she was 4 months old and has always been excellent when it comes to sleeping.  We made sure she had a routine and we are convinced it has resulted in her being a happy child in the day.  Unfortunately for the past three nights when laying her down in her cot she refuses, stands up and says 'No!', again and again, sometimes even crying because she doesn't want to stay in her own room, depite being very tired.  Basically I've had to lay on the floor next to her cot holding her hand trying to calm her down.  Anyone experienced anything like this before or have any suggestions as to what could have caused this abrupt change in her sleeping?

hi there,

i'm going to move your post over to the toddler sleep board, where you will likely get more answers.

Oh Yes :?  been there and (fingers crossed) finally coming out of it.
We had to resort right back to PD.Basically I laid her down, went out, counted to 10 went back in laid her down, went out counted to 10 etc.
The first night it took 50 mins, which was great as it had been taking 4 hours  .
Sometime now that doesn't work so I have to stroke her hair,or sit and hold her hand,I think she now realises that I'm not going to look at her or play with her she goes off in about 10 mins.(quite rare now though)

Has she tried to climb out of the cot yet?If so,she might be ready for a big bed.(luckily Emily hasn't yet)
Also have you got a night light?Emily became scared of the dark at about 18 monthsish (is that a word?)

Can you post your routine, may be just overtired.
